    Great vid
Can this be done with the motor still in the car?
Approximately how much would a qualified mechanic charge for this?

Yes it can, and people prefer and do it this way because you don't have to change the headgasket. You just have to be mindful of the engine cycle so the piston you are taking the springs out of isn't at the bottom of its stroke or the valve will fall in the cylinder hole. This can be done by shooting compressed air into the intake and exhaust ports respectively. Or have a buddy with a third hand hold it with rubber grips (dont scratch it!)

You have to do a leak down and see where the air is bleeding out.

Can I do this without removing the cylinder head from the block?

yes, need to be careful and put the piston up so the valve doesn't fall down.

I’d reccomend you do it with the head off so you can lap the valves. It’s stupid easy and free hp

who makes that valve compressor tool?

    • @murraymadness4674

you can rent them at oreilly's. I personally use a C clamp and grind off the center to make the end like a fork, so it will clamp the spring all the way down. Not possible if you do this with the head still on the engine, then you need that tool shown.
