Thanks for the video, never knew this was even a problem. My fuse is still good, but you may have saved me a ton of problems....appreciate it.
Yeah man. We did not know either. My truck came with the kit in the glove box and I put it off for way too long too. Well until my buddy showed me his melted fuse. Could have been worse. So I changed it shortly after so I don’t loose my baby.
Fantastic install video, did the install while watching the video and had the whole thing done in about a half hour
YT hanks man. Glad we could help.
Glad you made this video, I have the kit but have been procrastinating it forever😂
Same here. 🤣🤣 Kit came with the truck. Previous owner procrastinated, and so did I for a year. But I had a friend recently melt a fuse and said it’s about time. Got it done in no time but it was a pain in the butt for my vertically challenged ass.
Arnold voice - Do it! Do it now!!!! Don't get stranded!
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Relocated mine too. Before it became an issue. Preventative for future issues. Worth doing.
Totally agree.
Great video. I just did the fuse 27 relocation and your video was very helpful.
This was my first mod even though the fuse looked fine. Im also in the do it camp. Id rather not chance being stranded out in the north woods…
Getting to it was the hardest part with all those clips and the body positioning you had to be in to do😂
Agreed. Being bent over and trying to support yourself and do all that sucked so bad
Excellent instructional vid, just like the paper instructions except with live explanation.
Good job.
I repurposed my Fuse 27 for a set of rock lights. My Fuse 27 now protects my rock light controller with a 10 Amp fuse (that won't burn up or catch fire).
While I had my fuse box apart to do the Fuse 70 Relo job,
I also bought 4 more kits and activated Fuse 11, Fuse 64, and Fuse 74 so I have 3 more circuits I can use for more lights and other add on accessories.
I'm also going to activate some of the blank 8L8T relay slots and jumper my activated J-Case slots to them so I can have these additional circuits relayed.
Interesting idea. Would be better than an add a circuit for sure. Damn. Wish I would have though about it. But electrical stuff always scares me so I tend to put it off. May have to do it in the future.
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad the beauty about these fuse boxes is the main bus bar is connected to all of the J-Case slots and most of the micro fuse slots.
All you need are the "pigtail" wires just like in the FoMoCo Relo kit to activate every unused J-Case slots.
The cheapest way I found to get J-case pigtail with the proper spades is to go to a wrench-a-part wrecking yard and cut out and unbolt the same fuse boxes from these generation trucks of F150s and some Expeditions.
Once you are home, using a needle pick, it's very easy to pick out every fuse connector to get a wide variety of colored wired fuse connectors.
I've done it and have connector pigtails for J-Cases, micro fuses, and all of the relays
I intend to activate the unused "Bosch" style relay slot since it is a universal relay design and build a 30Amp circuit
(This is the relay slot which would be used if you have the 3.5 Exoboost engine, which our trucks obviously don't because they are the 6.2L SVT)
That’s was going to be my next question. How to get the right connector ends. May have to try it now for sure
Mine semi melted the fuse 3 or 4 years ago... I put a bigger different style fuse with a higher rating and haven't had an issue since... I did buy a kit like you got to fix it the right way. You da man. Thanks for the videos!
when I say semi melted... I mean it melted one side of the fuse and no damage in the electrical box.
Yeah most catch it at semi melted. Truck stops working and when you check the fuses they find it melted. But in rare situations it keeps melting and causes some major damage and I wanted to avoid it. I also put this off forever because of how much of a pain it is to do.
Good job on the videos, I am grateful you take the time and go through the hassle to make them so I can do what I need to. I got a high top creeper for Christmas, you need to look into them. Makes working in the engine compartment a lot easier.
I so want one too. But the good ones are expensive. Which one did you get?
I got a Xtremepowerus topside creeper. It’s pretty good for the price and really helps when doing stuff over the top of the engine.
Thanks for doing this video on the fuse 27. I got the kit a couple of years ago and didn’t instal it until today when it got me while at work.
Haven’t done it yet, but only lost one fuse in 172k miles, and still have a dozen spares in the center console…
I agree that it’s obviously a known issue, but to me, since Ford thought it was a big enough concern to create a kit, they should’ve issued a tsb/recall and done it themselves… pushing onto the owner just transfers liability should something go wrong after the relocation.
Very true. I wonder if there is a TSB out there for it? If there is a kit, there has to be one
I think it's BS Ford didn't issue a recall. I had mine go out into the middle of rush hour traffic a couple years back. Not a good feeling stalling out with no way to restart with 2 small children in the back seat.
Very true. Once you open up the fuse box, it’s an obvious miss just based on the cable gauge.
Great video! I've been putting off doing this on my 2011 but well worth it. Thank you!
I don’t blame you. I procrastinated myself on this one. But once a friend got stranded because of it, I knew I had to get it done.
I’ve owned my 11 since new, had the relocation kit since 16, I guess I’ll do it this weekend 😂😂
Great video as always!
Thanks 🙏
Excellent video! Thank you very much!
Thanks 🙏, glad we could help
You should try and get some footage of SVC’s 4link Daily Driver. That things so sick. I follow one of the owners Vintage Roamer and love seeing that guys truck
not that this comment has anything to do with your vid lol
Already featured that kit and that truck in our 2 SVC videos. We did the shop tour as well as am SVC day and he was there:
Ahora si voy a comprarlo por que ya se como ponerlo gracias helio
🙏🙏
yeah one of the first thing I did when I got my Gen 1. Cheap insurance.
I had the kit and everything and said I would do it but procrastinate forever because I knew it was a tedious job. But a friend had the issue recently and had a nice little reminder that I should do it before something happens
Can you de-pin that old wire out of slot 27 and just remove it?
With the right pin puller tool you can. Most dont have those and you have to cut the cable anyways because the pin for the larger fuse is bigger too. So it’s just easier to cut
I have a 2011 fx4 that had 76,000 miles on it and mine melted in the fuse block to the point I could not find what I was looking for. It was raining when my truck quit, check light came on and info screen said low oil pressure. I was confused at first but luckily I had my scanner under the back seat. A lot of codes came up no injectors working so on and so on. Called my buddy a Ford mechanic and told him what was going on and he said sorry I didn’t tell you sooner that Ford motors put out the service bulletin to the Ford mechanics but said piss on you customers you don’t t need to know. Adds up a towing bill, service bill, and have to wait on it to be fixed. All for not wanting a recall at fords expense. I fixed my own with a Ford kit like this I got from eBay for $18.00.
Yeah, this is a obvious defect from ford. Makes no sense to me why they did not take care of it as part of a recall.
For all you who did this, what solder did you use? It says RMA im completely lost cant find it, does it matter?
I used standard silver solder. No need to get fancy hear honestly. It’s not a circuit board and the solder is just there to keep things cleaner. Most kits even already come pre dipped in solder too
Ok awesome thanks a ton man
I drove my raptor today and after stopping at the liquor store it wouldn’t turn on ! And the the ignition was like stuck on for a while triying to start and eventually stoped. After the 3rd try it turned on and drive fine . As soon as I got home I checked the fuse 27 and it was burned up from on side.
Yeah man. You’re lucky the fuse just failed. It can catch fire and destroy the truck. Do the relocation to be a bigger fuse. Totally worth it and we all ignore it I waited a year and had a friend have the same thing happen as you. I did it that weekend
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad it’s funny because I had watched your video last week and was already thinking of the 27 relocation and then today this happens lol I just ordered the kid and should be here tomorrow . Your video is very helpful thank you 🙏
A+
Thanks 🙏
What’s that red jumper wire coming out of the fuses from the top?
That’s an add a circuit I used to power my intercooler pump for the supercharger. The Roush way of tapping into power was not working and just killing my battery
Is this raptor specific or does it apply to the 11-14 eco boost variant.
Not sure. I do know the kit is for the whole f150 platform from 2010 to 2014.
Take a look at your fuse box and see if fuse 27 is in the same location and the same size. If so, I would definitely do it.
@@KeepItDirtyOffRoad looks like it is. Good catch on this. Thanks!
Man bro nice I have the kit it sitting in the back seat I been wanting to do it but I was nervous I'd ruin the raptor lol
Same here. It’s not that bad to do. Just a pain and some weird positioning around the truck.
What gauge was the wire that we have to cut and solder the blue and red striped one? And thanks for the videos bro 🙏 keep em coming
We said it in the video, it was a 12 guage I think and you can’t miss it. It’s the thickest blue and red wire in that center bank.
255k miles on mine and it just happened!
It’s probably been happening for a while. Had a friend just check theirs and the fuse was partially melted. Still worked but on the brink of failure. And if it fails wrong, the whole truck can burn down
Unless you wanna be stuck on the highway on your way to work, just change it out. A tow bill and $120 later... lol
Totally agree. Hearing more and more stories of people getting stranded because of this issue
