    I ordered these without the thick carbon fiber, just the black plastic. Will I still have that rubbing issue or do you think I'll be okay?

    • @nprform
      @nprform  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You should be ok or at least the gap shouldn’t be as severe. I spoke with another TH-camr and he stated he didn’t encounter the same issue, when using the normal black struts. He used the same ones I did. Here’s a link to his video. th-cam.com/video/c7sToPUt1as/w-d-xo.html

      @@thesorrow619 They will work with only the passenger side, but will be a bit weaker. Someone stated they bent the bracket holding the ECU over a bit and that fixed the issue for them. I wish these worked better than they do, when it comes to clearing the top of the ECU.

    Great idea on using the metal stick. I was about to install these and I was worried about that bolt as well. I will do this, too! Cheers!

      Thank you! I hope to have a follow up video soon, as I’m currently working with the company to come up with a solution to make the carbon fiber struts work without pushing the hood up, due to the placement of the ECU.

      @@nprform I'll probably install it with the pins out instead of in. I'll let you know if I have the same fitment issue on the drivers side. I got the regular black ones though. I hears that the extra carbon fiber cover is thicker and may cause the hood bulge.

      @@robg2732 You shouldn’t have the same issues as I did with the regular black struts. I found I like the pins in better than out, but again, I was using the carbon ones. I found if the driver’s side pin was in the outside position (close to the outside of the car), the strut would pop out. Please let me know how it goes! Cheers

    So there's another TH-camr Ntense, who did the struts as well and he didn't have any fitment problems. So I went back to watch to see if he did anything differently and I noticed your bottom struts are angled towards each other. Whereas his were angled away from each other. That may fix your fitment issue.

    • @nprform
      @nprform  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have linked his video in my comment. After speaking with him, it looks like the regular black struts seem to work better than the carbon fiber kits. As far as the strut bracket, I tried it in every possible position and even turned them upside down, nothing fixed the issue. That’s way you see so many hand prints on my hood in the video! LOL

    • @nprform
      @nprform  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@michaelwilburn1001 I hope you have better luck than I did. I believe the carbon fiber cover being used adds a bit more thickness to the product, which unfortunately, presses against the top of the ECU. I don’t believe all the Elantra models have the ECU located in the same place as the N. If you have an issue, Amazon return is really easy and you could swap out for the regular black set. Let me know how they’re work for you.

      End up having the same issue with the driver side sticking up due to the ECU. I am thinking though it will be fine, it is just mainly for cosmetics and the ECU will not be hurt...

    Any recommendations on removing the hood nuts after installing and finding out the rubbing issue? 🤦🏻‍♂️

    • @nprform
      @nprform  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you didn’t install the metal pieces as I did to easily pull the nuts back out of the hood, then no, you’ll probably lose the nuts inside the hood, when unscrewing the bolts. I lost one as I was going through the install process and coming up with the best way to install the struts.

    that gap is from factory i have same uneven gap without hood struts and i know another one that has the same issue as well

    • @nprform
      @nprform  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand there is a gap in the hood from the factory, but when adding the strut, specifically on the driver’s side, the gap is increased. I tired several was of installing the struts, plus checked the hood with or without the struts installed to verify the gap was being increased by the struts. This is because the struts Is pressing against the top of the ECU. I believe the issue may be with the extra width added to the strut for the carbon fiber look, as another TH-camr didn’t have the same issue I had, using the same product, when installing the basic black strut.
