I'm no expert...but as an engineer..there is a reason other then vibration Hyundai made the mount flexible. I feel with the solid connections from the new mount is harmful as unused torque from the engine that do not go to the wheel is being absorbed by the internal drive train. Which could cause damage. I would recommend what another person mentioned new stiffer bushings. That will at least still be able to reduce wheel hop, reduce vibration, and absorb unused engine torque.
I'm not a hyundai engineer but the stock engine mounts are usually to create bottom clearance. Sacrifice clearance for less wheel hops might not be for everyone.
@MA-pp6of literally any fwd performance car pre 2015. The Mazda 3speed, chevy cobalt ss are great examples. They are fast but when you launch them they try to shoot sideways. I live in ny so fwd performance has been my thing forever 😅
Awesome video y'all! The mount does take around 1000 miles to break-in fully but after that NVH is a bit more manageable! Hyped to see all that wheel hop reduction, great comparison!
In the SRT4 the best way to reduce wheel hop was using moog problem solver lower control arms. Solid mounts just kept you from smacking the oil pan on the AC bracket.
Get the yellow dogbone bushing along with engine mount. 0 wheel hop. The 2024 model upgraded engine mount and bushings to eliminate wheel hops. Will get it as soon as it comes out 👌
Ok… idk if you are intentionally doing this but do y’all even use the actual launch control feature…. ? Y’all are unnecessarily putting extreme stress on the engine with your “method”. You’re not using the launch control properly, you shouldn’t be preparing the launch at redline….. you’ll know if you do a launch control properly if a prompt pops up to “adjust the RPM’s” and you’ll see the revs bounce at either 2500-3000rpms. You guys are not launching it properly at all.
Very true. They are literally not using the launch control at all in the beginning to make it seem like it wheel hops like crazy. When using the launch control the low rpm decreases the chance of wheel hop. Source: I own a 22 Hyundai Veloster N DCT on Michelin PS4s OEM 235/35R19. 🤙

Lol. Mine is stock and I can deal with wheel hopping when my wife is in my car. And, I can beat you. Just learn how to drive the dam* car at least 90% of its full functionality before putting any more mods...
Because the car in this video isnt octane learnt (max boost was only 15psi) my experience has been you won't get as much wheel hop as when it is learnt. Case in point i got a lower purple bushing on mine and it basically eliminated wheel hop when unlearnt. However when i later learnt the car (max boost around 17-19 psi), the wheel hop returned due to the higher power output. The best thing to eliminate wheel hop is to launch the car with 'care' and don't be so ham fisted. A bit of finesse goes a long way especially in 1st gear. Not easy to resist the habit or temptation to just mash the go pedal though.
Wish I knew more about fuel injection, spark, valve timing etc. What I would like to do is try running alcohol and nitro in loo of larger turbo and other mods
Lord i love this thing thanks for the vid love the wrx and 86 but i needed this one 🔥 and yes get new wheels 🛞 👍🏻 PS: get the top engine mount from power flex it helps and tune this thing please 🙏🏻
I can see your on 15psi. Do Octane learning process for the N (it should be in the manual) if you take it to the dragstrip. You will get peak 19psi when its learnt

Not sure if u know about octane learning in the EN but seems like ur maxing out at 15 psi, next time u fill up with 93 try and go thru proper octane learning for the first 5-10 miles then you should max out at 19ish psi

Exactly why. I went with bushings instead of the mount itself, I 100% agree it just makes sense and I ain’t no engineer😂
That makes sense. Gotta have some kind of give or flex
It should be fine
They use softer rubber to absorbs vibration so customer doesn’t feel whole car shaking. The wheel hop will actually cause more damage to drive train

one thing i love about the stock en is all that wheel hop and it still stays straight. still better than 90% of fwd cars
I’ve never been in a car that wheel hopped and didn’t stay straight lol anything with an LSD does that

I went with the Powerflex bushings. They are definitely better in terms of vibrations. Solid mod either way !

The factory under the engine mount was designed to be broken off to allow the engine to be dropped in frontal collisions.
