If you’re willing to eat 85 million in dead cap that means you really wanted to get rid of him
Exactly. They released him when they could have kept him for zero additional $. That's literally nothing compared to $1.25M league minimum that other teams would have to pay; if he isn't good enough for the horrible Broncos team at zero $, why would he be attractive to any team?
Pretty sure the team had to give up on him at that point. Like next season would’ve been suicide because perhaps a lot of the team said they won’t stand for Wilson as their QB again.

The Saints giving up all picks for one season and their first 3 picks the following season to be able and draft Ricky Williams is up there as one of the worst.
Imagine if this show talked about the whole league rather than the same 3-4 teams/half dozen players. What about, “What can this team(NOT DALLAS) do in the draft to make them a contender?”, “Who should target trades?”, etc.
My favorite part of this, is that they owe him 80M for a 5 year contract extension that didnt even start.
and the coach gets fired in first year...wilson gone before that extension takes place...and the GM somehow gets to keep his job....amazing

Minnesota never used Hershal. Stupid coach Jerry Burns would keep him on the sideline then put him in when it was 3rd and 10. Hershal went on to still do some great things in Philly.

As a Broncos fan since '97 this is the worse deal in Denver's existence by far to give up that type of trade compensation and plus players then to sign Russ to a extension before he actually played to now cut him and have to eat 85 million in a dead cap is just atrociously bad for this organization
and yet I can't find a denver fan or anyone in media that didn't cheer the trade when it happened as being in Denver's favor....and most were just fine with the extension and it was 'lets ride' time.
I don't understand the complaining about Russ in Denver..u got exactly what he was in Seattle....cant throw over the middle...inflates stats when game is meaningless. Can't see wide open players. His stats lie...they don't represent himself truefully.

According to Jimmy Johnson, Cleveland made an offer first and Dallas decided to bounce it around the league. The Viking deal was 6 or 7 players with a first rounder down the road. Jimmy cut the players and got picks that were attached to them. That's where all those draft picks came from
I still think Keyshawn has yet to understand the dynamic of this show. Man can’t take an actual stance but will tear down Skip’s with personal bias

Not a fan of Skip. This isn’t a one or the other conversation. The show should be enjoyable. Skip atleast still tries to debate. Keyshawn is trying to convince, not go back and forth.
Keyshawn is great on the show, he shouldn’t just agree with Skip on everything.

Keyshawn is too opinionated and never want to be wrong..he has no passion and he don't mix well with Skip. He's an analyst not a cohost. Skip needs another Shannon or do what Stephen A Smith did which is rotate different analysts every day

The Herschel Walker trade was dumber. You don't give up that kind of draft capital for a running back. Not even in 1990.

DEN--ATL--LV--TN--possibly NO; the only teams w/coaching staffs; able to talk to Wilson, as well as $$$ deal for less over 2/3 years; Wilson would have no choice but to accept any of the above teams' terms, as he must stay upright/protect the ball more thus the above teams are putting a few more key skill position players in place; RW just needs the right OC/System to maximize his skill set; ie Mayfield--Goff--Purdy--Flacco--coming back from so-so 2022 seasons, get their teams in the Playoff Talk in 2023 ; RW can do the same again, right OC/Offensive System/Good OL.😮

Keep in mind that money they are missing on cap now, is like 1 absolutely amazing RB, and like 2 good wrs. On an offense that they no longer could add..that's an entire side of an offensive line worth of money. They no longer have. That's like the entire special teams salary combined xD not on the field

He’s going to try to get one last big contract and then set sails for life. He can now but it’s like, “I’m 35. I know I can make another $70-100 million. Let’s get it.”
What determines a trade is how the teams fared after the transaction. Dallas won three Super Bowls in four years with the bulk of the assets from that trade with Minnesota for Herschel Walker. One of the players from that trade was not only the engine of that offense, but he later became the NFL's all-time leading rusher and is one of the greatest players in NFL history (Emmitt Smith).
For what Seattle got in the Russell Wilson trade, the Seahawks have gone to the playoffs once so far. I don't know anyone who thinks Devon Witherspoon, Shelby Harris, Charles Cross or Drew Locke is on a trajectory for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, much less being called one of the greatest players in NFL history. Not to mention Seattle has had back-to-back 9--8 seasons in two seasons since the trade and missed the playoffs one year. So I don't see how the Wilson trade is comparable to the Walker trade.
Favre was a 3 straight mvp winner not even close in caliber.

Still healthy and thankful for the bank balances.
Plus he's still young enough to actually get on the floor and outside and play with his children. May not sound like much but those children will have great memories and stories. Means more than accolades of football in their eyes.

The Watson trade is the worst in NFL history. They gave up more and gave a larger contract for a player that has played worse.
Nah, they only gave up 1 first rounder and Deshaun actually had a winning record in Cleveland when he played.
Nope, the Hershel Walker trade is still worst because of the results. Still don’t know what the result is for Houston yet after the Deshaun trade. For Dallas, trading away Walker to Minnesota for those assets resulted in 3 Super Bowls titles.

@@jordan3305it’s the same in the Walker trade. Walker was good in Minnesota, but he couldn’t duplicate what he did in Dallas where one year, he rushed for over 1,500 yards. He never had a 1,000 rushing yard season and only one playoff appearance in Minnesota where they got ran out of Candlestick Park. After that, the Vikings were 14-18 the next 2 years before Walker left for Philly.

One of but definitely not the worst trade ever. That belongs to the Ricky Williams trade. They traded every pick that year AND another first and 3rd the year after. Outside of the picks Denver didn’t really give up much. I credit Seattle for drafting well rather for what those picks turned out to be. The absolute worst part of this deal is the contract. Not only did they sign him before playing a single snap, but didn’t even make it to the extension. I feel like to be a historically bad trade there has to be some like “oh if this doesn’t work it could go really bad” feeling. Like the Brooklyn-Boston trade in basketball

@@OKG2000 It's a lot of money because of the current financial state of the NFL, where teams vastly overpay for quarterbacks. And the $85 million is money Denver can't spend on players for the next two seasons.
