All in all, Shishido turned out to be a very good villain. It made sense why he did what he did and the battle against him was fun from start to finish. When Majima stabbed through Shishido's hand and it barely fazed him was honestly a top 5 moment from this game.
one of the better villains in the series and he comes from a fucking half game where he somehow has more screentime than most of the other main villains
@@hidan407I don’t think he would’ve killed them, he just caught them off guard and they underestimated him. If Kiryu was able to beat Shishido then Majima and Saejima should be able to as well. Especially if it’s both of them.
@@hidan407 To be fair, they did just have to fight like, a entire room of Omi beforehand, and Saejima was basically saying that they were pretty tired, so they weren't really at 100% when they were trying to pressure Shishido. It's still really impressive regardless though, Shishido's a genuinely intimidating guy to be able to do that even to a tired Majima and Saejima. Plus, he was going toe to toe with Kiryu for a while, even if he lost. Guy has tenacity and endurance for days.
The last fight against Shishido made me cry a little. This man had to raise himself, and the Omi was the only place he had. In his twisted mind, he thought taking the Omi for himself would grant him power once in his life. Shishido was also my favorite character by this point. Everything he had to endure... it's horrible.
shishido might be thinking its for survival but at the end of the day they all knew they were gonna become slaves. its like people forgot how hilariously pathetic the tokyo omi alliance and rk were. the only those two groups had were muscle
I never thought this series would get me to cry more than it did with Rikiya, but Taichi/Ayako speaking to Kiryu/him getting to see Haruto’s picture broke me
Bro Rikiya was just some stupid obnoxious kid just like Nishiki was. That’s why they both died lmao. And Nishiki especially because he thought he can be the fckng villain when he was just a stupid kid for a brother compared to Kiryu😅😅. Kiryu literally beats his ass at the end.
21:57 the discussion about balls with Kiryu and Daigo and then majima giving smirk to saejima had me in stitches when I first saw it. I’m glad the localisation team acknowledged how memeable Saejima’s dialogue can be
I feel like people aren't mentioning how SAD shishido's ending is. He wasn't even given the mercy of death after all his plans failed. He lost his status as yakuza, he can't live a free live no matter what and is now forced to work under daidoji under a short leash meaning he'll never get any rest and will be under watch 24/7, and he'll have to work with nishitani. I love how after he heard that you can actually see the fear he got in his eyes.
Well he knew too much. If they let him live and he goes after the orphan kids Joryu would never obey the Daidoji no matter what. They already knew what would happen if the kids were threatened.
Can't say that I pity him, if only he went along with Kiryu and Watase he still had a chance to live a free life and probably working as freelance muscle had he put aside his pride as yakuza.
@@evantambolang3052 No. Just, no. The whole point of Shishido is that he represents exactly those yakuzas both Daigo and Watase know couldn't be saved. They're just too balls deep in the game to ever return to the civilian life. Look at Shishido, with all the scars in his face, tatoos all the way to his wrists, there was zero chance in the world for him to be acepted in civilian life. In real life, most ex-yakuza aren't able to get jobs and are excluded from society, not to mention how mentaly deranged they are from their experiences. Even in Yakuza 3, Kashiwagi had a group dedicated to help ex-yakuza to integrate to the civilian world, but even then, it wasn't enough for a lot of them.
SOB THE ENDING HAD ME CRYING SO MUCH THAT WAS EVIL TO SHOW THE VIDEO AND DRAWING they're so old now and the whole situation is still so sad, kiryu saying he needed them was so touching everything was tearjerking
It wasn't evil. Kiryu thanked him and said he appreciated it and I'm glad Kiryu got an update as to how the kids are doing rather than being in the dark about everything, I'm happy he's seeing his grandson growing up, he really deserves it after everything
So heart wrenching.. He’s risked a lot for them in the hopes that they would be able to care for themselves despite him not being there. Yet in the end, he realised that the he really needed them more than they need him and the fact that he’s unable to tell them this because of his decisions. The fact that he gazed upon Haruto’s drawing proudly like a proud parent, knowing that he grew up and remembered him despite him being a baby at the time… fuck man..
The game up to this point when you go into fights, the font is this formal rigid style. Probably symbolic to Kiryu upholding his Agent persona. And at the final boss, we return to the traditional, stylized Yakuza font. Like the Yakuza in Kiryu has come back to fight for what he believes is the right thing to do. Man this series is so tight.
Well, hate to be the guy, but all major boss fights will have the old Yakuza font, as well as all character introductions. That said, it's really a very good attention to detail even with the tight deadline of the production
@@darrylaz3570 But they simply omitted the original writing like they did in the English versions of the first two games back in the PS2. I feel like Hanawa was Morinaga based off this ending. Not only do they have the same VA, but he literally said that he was acquainted with Taichi Suzuki
im on a mix of thinking its either nakajima (the guy running the taxi business and employed kiryu) or morinaga. the reason i say nakajima is not only does he look similar to him, but he also knew taichi suzuki was an alias from the start. not to mention it could also add some other reasons to why he has such a bond with kiryu and hesitated killing him. morinaga makes more sense but its cool to make theories
At 16:19, is it just me, or does Majima sound like he momentarily dropped his Mad Dog persona, and returned to his Y0 personality? He practically begs Kiryu not to leave him and the gang. To me , he really misses Kiryu, but just didn't want to show it.
That whole scene was so heart wrenching in its subtle way. Majima begging Kiryu to stay, Daigo having a quick grasp on the situation and his sad acceptance of it, their quick father-to-son exchange, the fact that Kiryu can't even look at them. And then I remembered that the ugly crying scene has not happened yet so I buckled up... :')
Majima knows what it's like to have to pretend to be someone else to protect the people he loves, no wonder he knew what Kiryu was up to at that moment
Crying doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means you’ve been strong for far too long. EDIT: for crying out loud. How on earth did this comment invite a debate on gender roles of all things!?
Crying is healthy when done for good reason. People who cry at the slightest inconvenience are weak. In my eyes, your tears are sacred. They have meaning. Shed them for what's important to you. Not for spilled milk.

Honestly that has to be one of if not the most emotional Yakuza endings. Not just because a flashy badass fight, not just a touching moment between characters, but Kiryuu of all people outright breaking down after seeing the kids was something else. The sheer emotion in the voice was perfect and such a tragically positive ending that had me from start to finish.
RGG is so evil man, showing that video and drawing in the end is unfair, seeing taichi as firefighter really takes me back when playing yakuza 3 where kiryu and the kids still happy and playing baseball together, kiryu must be so proud of his kids, hopefully he can find happiness in the next game 😭😭😭
If nothing else, this final boss fight really reminds me of the final boss fight of Yakuza 5. Right down to fighting from the center of HQ and ending up outside.
RGG was really like “hey guys this is just a side game ok 👉👈” then proceeded to casually drop one of the greatest final boss fights in their entire catalogue
@@ryanologistonym Hey Ebina's no slouch either. Both he and Shishido represent interesting aspects of both Kiryu and RGG moving on from this era of their story. And both are still better finales than Iwami.
This final fight was just gorgeous. Good old Yakuza final boss choregraphy and stakes. Amazing scenery. Beautiful music with multiple phases. A great dynamic intro. And of course, amazing tattoos. It reminded me a lot of Yakuza 5's final fight. Which is a personal favorite of mine too !
When Watase looked down at Shishido and the dissolution in his hand, I think there was a little bit of conflict in him. Not enough to change his mind, just respect for Shishido being so tough and fighting for the Yakuza like he would have himself once upon a time.
This. The whole time you can see there's apart of Watse that's proud to see his men fighting for their dreams. He and Daigo are dissolving the yakuza to help the men but they still respect their willingness to fight.
Kudos for Shishido for being such a vicious villain. It's just a shame he got to face Kiryu at peak manlyness. I mean, look at those knees to the face! Damn

You also have to take into account the previous damage Shishido sustained at the construction site, fighting Tsuruno, Kiryu and Watase, not to mention the finisher he took: a fall several stories high. Judging from his mucky clothes and bloodied face, Shishido probably got out of the ditch without anyone s help and was too determined to bother treating his wounds. Despite the injuries, Shishido still held off Majima's attack, unbothered of being stabbed through the hand. He stalled Saejima, perhaps the only character surpassing Kiryu in raw power, with the guard of a sword THAT HE ISNT EVEN USED TO (He picked Nishitani's sword.) Oh yea, he also shrugs off a kick by Kiryu and doesnt even keel over despite his injuries. Then uh, cue the boss fight. Countless falls Shishido took, but he soldiered on. Went through glass multiple times, no care given. Still has the stamina to wield his blade and punch despite the hand injury. The brawl was basically a room tour of Omi HQ, that s how durable he was I rest my case.
It'd be cool if Ichiban eventually got an ability like Dragon's Resurgence later in the game like what Kiryu has, maybe call it Hero's Ascension or something to keep with the theme.

I keep coming back to watch this video, I really loved how RGG handled this. The final battle, the music, the legends back together, the closure Kiryu gets from the kids at the Morning Glory Orphanage, etc. Everything was beautifully done.
In 6, Kiryu fought Little Baby Iwami with Akiyama and a bunch of new guys I didn’t care for. It didn’t feel like a fitting boss fight to end to his story. But Gaiden really corrected that. The Tojo Clan’s 6th Chairman, The Tiger of the Tojo, The Mad Dog of Shimano, and The Dragon of Dojima teaming up. This boss fight was so awesome. When they all ripped off their shirts and got ready for battle, I was so hyped. This entire game was so fun. RGG Studios really make the best games.
There was so much that really got me on the edge of my seat! The fight against Shishido was insanely hype and symbolic with epic transitions Yakuza 5 style, and how Kiryu literally GRABS the blades end of a sword without flinching shows just how he’s got nothing to lose! And then literally seeing him crying in the ending after learning about how much the Morning Glory kids had grown literally struck me in the heart that it brought ME to tears too! This one might be a big new favorite RGG game to me!
When Kiryu cried I felt a tiger drop to the emotions and I just bawled. This game is everything that Yakuza 6 had me wanting and it's a cultivation of the entire series, itts getting harder to accept that Kiryu will be leaving soon but they've begun the end of his legacy on a high note
Gonna be seeing a lot of parallels between Aizawa and Shishido in the fandom I'm betting. Both of these men are beasts who go against the old guard and try to take control from them. Aizawa just shows up home to trash it and wait for Kiryu at the top all cleaned up with a fancy suit, he's very much in a position at the top to take it all but that was all given to him, the power and position he found himself in was given to him by someone else. Shishido had to show up home all dirtied and batted up to clean up house after it was trashed for him, everything he worked for was taken away by the old guard, he had to crawl his way up to the top one last time to get a shot at Kiryu, he's in there the whole game working with you and trying to find a way to stop the pan because all the struggles he's been through and everything he's earned would have been for nothing, he earned his shot against the old guard. The fight also plays out incredibly similarly, both of these guys have the largest health bars in the series and all progress the same, an initial class at the peak of the organization's power with the chairman's seat going into a brutal fall onto the main lobby and followed by an explosive exit towards the courtyards of their organization.
The final segment of Gaiden was PEAK Yakuza. The yelling, the shirts flying off, the speeches about dreams and convictions... Watching Majima, Saejima and Daigo throwing it down side by side with Kiryu was fanservice done RIGHT. I also thought for sure Nishitani III was going to be the final boss, but Shishido was an welcome surprise. His betrayal felt much more justified than Tendo in LAD/Y7.
I'm so glad they revisited Kiryu for one final balls to the wall beat em up game. Turn based yakuza is good but it's missing that emotional adrenaline from the older games.
This game really went from a super incredible final boss fight that was hype the whole way through to me crying 20 minutes later. What a game. I'm glad Kiryu got 1 more hurrah after the admittedly not amazing ending that 6 gave him.
I might be overthinking this, but the final clash between Kiryu and Shishido seems to mirror the way they think. They both go for a headbutt, and Kiryu wins. Shishido stubbornly goes for another headbutt, while Kiryu switches to a punch and basically obliterates Shishido. Similar to how Shishido is stubbornly stuck in the old Yakuza way (which Kiryu was also more successful in) while Kiryu manages to adapt and think about the future.
I don't think there's any boss in the series going complete all out like Shishido does, he truly is a cornered beast, in it's last resort. I do feel a bit unfair for Ichiban's fight in 7, as it turn out his fight really isn't the most brutal scene of the promising day. Then again, shouldn't have expect less from the last struggle of the two biggest factions, I'm super glad this game do these wolves some justice in term of ruthlessness, instead of just a hall of people fighting back.
Man, the talk between them reminds me of Kuze. When Kiryu mentioned that he always wants to beat someone who's stronger than him to prove himself to be the best. It means Kiryu never forget what Kuze has taught him

The experience was worth it.Can hardly wait for Infinite wealth. Shishido is in my top 3 final boss fights. Dude's super fun to fight in professional. The katana phases, the fight starting inside HQ and ending at the very entrance. WOW this boss fight was like Ryuji Goda meets Aizawa. Haven't seen Kiryu struggle with a final boss so much since Mine. Freakin EPIC visuals. The sunlight throughout the fight felt so refreshing. I just realized every final boss had occurred during night time
Average Yakuza fan: "Man Aizawa was a fun fight and all the symbolism of fighting throughout the headquarters of a Yakuza family as you push them further and further from their dream is great, I just wish he was an actual character with reasons to be the final boss" Shishido: "Heard, and take this absolutely metal boss theme while you're at it" Fucking GOAT
I gotta be honest, tho. If Daigo *HAD* a gun. This whole fight would've never happened. He would've eradicated everyone the moment he saw Shishido walk in. Im just saying

39:00 Yoshimura snatching Shishido is a sad example of a snake biting his tail. Shishido was born a slave, he was given freedom by the Watase family only to later resist the dissolution plan, but is now enslaved by the Daidoji afterwards. From being a slave to a Japanese Yakuza organisation to being the slave of the Japanese deep state, there was no good ending for him.
In some capacity it was probably deserved for guys like Shishido and Nishitani III. They’re probably being brainwashed in some Daidoji facility right now.
@@deviljho4260 the irony here it is that he was a slave to Nishitani III a priori. Now you will tell me that it is better that the Daidoji control him than Nishitani III. I will agree. This is one of those fights that made me abandon the easy winning moves and choose to drag the fight out just to savour the beauty and epicness of it all.
This is literally Aizawa 2.0 and I love it

However, I'm not regretting not dragging it. Im regretting it because I did Essence of the Dragon God on Shishido, which DESTROYED him, but I did not synch the music😭😭😭

All in all, Shishido turned out to be a very good villain. It made sense why he did what he did and the battle against him was fun from start to finish. When Majima stabbed through Shishido's hand and it barely fazed him was honestly a top 5 moment from this game.
And with him being able to overpower majima AND saejima at the same time. Imo I feel like he could have killed them 1 vs 1
@@hidan407 majima probably but saejima hell nah

And then the Daidoji kidnaps him with Nishitani, the same guy that put Shishido through hell, to make them both agents

@@erniefu1610i dobut he would make anything to the kids. he just said that to make Kiryu angry (and thus, lose his focus).
Can't say that I pity him, if only he went along with Kiryu and Watase he still had a chance to live a free life and probably working as freelance muscle had he put aside his pride as yakuza.

The sheer emotion in the voice was perfect and such a tragically positive ending that had me from start to finish.

If nothing else, this final boss fight really reminds me of the final boss fight of Yakuza 5. Right down to fighting from the center of HQ and ending up outside.
The parallels to Aizawa is uncanny

The little motion Kiryu does where he shows off Haruto's drawing like a proud dad hurts so much
One of finest performances that Kuroda-san he's ever done.

The brawl was basically a room tour of Omi HQ, that s how durable he was

I keep coming back to watch this video, I really loved how RGG handled this. The final battle, the music, the legends back together, the closure Kiryu gets from the kids at the Morning Glory Orphanage, etc. Everything was beautifully done.
I didn't buy into Shishido as a final boss at first, but goddang it man his theme burns and his fight might just be the best.
This kinda feels like yakuza 6 part 2, I liked 6 this just adds an equal amount of liking 👍
So much emotions in this final chapter, the boss fight, the ending and the post-credit scene.
I loved it.
Play the trial the turned based has been improved by A LOT

From being a slave to a Japanese Yakuza organisation to being the slave of the Japanese deep state, there was no good ending for him.
