    THANK YOU FOR COVERING THIS!! This was my first mmo around 2008 and I played til around 2014 with some check ins here and there throughout the years since. I've wanted to get back into it since this game just means so much to me, but I could never really wrap my head around the old systems and combat again. It really aged like milk! I'm so happy its gonna get updates to make it play and look more like a modern game and I'm excited to finally introduce my friends to it when that happens!

    I cant imagine how much of a bottleneck the Plieone engine was for Mabinogi... Completely proprietary engine from like 2001 that probably takes a full year to onboard any programmers onto because it would be nothing like anything they'd seen before, with decades of boilerplate keeping things from falling apart. It's a miracle that the developers manage to update the game with new features, let alone maintain it.

      Honestly, what they managed to do on an old engine is impressive - its definitely buckling under new updates

    1. 최적화는 잘 될까? (위치렉, 버벅거림, 신종버그 등...)
    2. 염색 시스템을 잘 구현이 될까? (기존의 RBG코드값을 잘 인식을 할까?)
    3. 손가락이 생기고, 머리카락이 휘날리는건 좋지만 다른 언리얼 게임과 비교하면 비교적으로 조금 퀄리티가 부족한 부분이 없지않아 있다.
    (이 문제는 언리얼이 적용이 된 이후에 업데이트를 통해서 개선이 가능할 것으로 추측. / 개발자들이 일을 열심히 한다는 가정 이지만...)
    Thoughts on the future of the Mabinogi Unreal Engine.
    1. Will the optimization work? (Witchrek, stuttering, newbugs, etc.)
    2. Will the dyeing system be implemented well? (Will the existing RBG code value be recognized well?)
    3. It's good to have fingers and hair fluttering, but compared to other Unreal games, there is a lack of quality.
    (Tis problem can be improved by updating after Unreal is applied. / The assumption is that developers work hard...)

    man i nearly teared up when they revealed the eternity project, i really hope that they handle the power creep aswell and launch the update togheter with a fresh start server so new players don't don't get carried by lvl 50K + whales and see all the rediculous outfits and mounts and get discouraged.
    mabinogi was so much better back when it was simpler.

      I do feel a big part of the game for a lot of people were collecting those outfits and mounts.
      I do agree the powercreep would be a concern though. Aside from a fresh start server (which I think is fair to have), it'd also be nice to see them rebalance a lot of things, so that players going through content are appropriately challenged/scaled for the challenge, as that one npc lady (forgot her name) powercreeps new players with really good gear, that it just makes a lot of the initial growth into the game stupidly easy.

What I’m saying is that I don’t just play mabinogi all day and night so when you play games like FiveM and Call of duty you don’t want you favorite mmo trying harder to cook my space. And I have a build pc and a very good asus gaming laptop that I got from Walmart 😂

    It's not just in this comment section that I am starting to hear complaints from players that their computers won't be able to handle this update. I'm hearing comments like, "Maybe can we keep old Mabinogi up and the new version too??? Give Mabinogi players a choice!" Nope. Nope nope. Nope. That's not happening and it doesn't make sense for a company to do this. This is already a costly process for them and they ARE going to cut costs where they can for this.
    The solution for those players is going to be painfully obvious; you are going to have to get better computers. Your walmart computer that you bought a decade ago is probably not going to be able to handle this update. I'm sorry to say but that's not their problem. This update is necessary for the continued survival of this ancient game. If you love Mabinogi enough it's time to upgrade.
    But the good news is that you have a year or two before this update goes live. You CAN save up enough before then. 💕

    Mabinogi holds a special place in my heart, hell my icon is my main in Tioz armor dual wielding black goddess obsidian black wooden blades, drew by a friend from the same game. Is this an actual upgrade for the old client or are we all starting over with this?

    They can still use older techniques for lighting since the majority of the environments as the time of day changes, are static.

    The problem with Lumen is that it's software oriented raytracing (Sort of) function...
    This means if your hardware can't handle it, it will be HEAVY on your system.
    "Lumen’s biggest downside in my experience so far is that it does put a decently heavy workload on the CPU, so if you don’t have a decently fast CPU with at least a couple cores to spare while the game is running, Lumen performance starts to choke pretty hard.
    This means that it will scale well down to say, a top-tier gaming PC from 2017. But it won’t scale well down to older PC hardware, or last generation consoles. Lumen’s distance field and VSM based shadows also have a long way to go. They are noisy and have a lot of small visual defects in small moving geometry (foliage is the worst part).
    This is cleaned up by using hardware ray tracing shadows, but that currently also has limitations that are often deal breakers (hardware RT shadows currently don’t handle transparency or masking, meaning foliage based on cards will incorrectly shadow itself. Lumen shadows in some cases still don’t work with Pixel Depth Offset either, which hurts).
    Because of these limits, use of hardware ray traced Lumen with Foliage kind of requires you to bite the bullet and go for Nanite foliage (which is exactly what Epic did for their big launch of all this stuff in Fortnite Chapter 4)."

    the real question is.. our stuff we got on all ages playing mabinogi, can be transfering to the new motor? or we lost and restart all characters?
    But more important, where can download the new engine or game, coz i dont want touch Epic Store by Download the launcher to play mabi, and plus, i hope the game dont got the worst Anti Hack program like the unfamouse "blue panda", not since the last tournament of Counterr Strike where a hacker can enter the tournament use the "blue panda" Anti cheat like a backdoor by made troublesome on the gameplay. NEXON thinking about it?

    hopefully they'll update and change the controls too. I liked many aspects of the game and so I tried to play but I just couldn't get used to the controls x_x

      I agree that the keyboard controls for running around and stuff are still pretty bad compared other mmos out there. Looking forward to better controls and better movement permissions, there are invisible walls everywhere. Being able to actually jump normally without the use of a umbrella, gesture, pet, or other special item would also be nice. Let us climb up some walls and jump off cliffs. If they don't know what to do with all those empty flat areas on top of those walls turn them into new housing districts (for example if you fly in Filia you can see all the flat space on top of the mountain walls that surround the town that you can't land or walk on). Iria especially is a continent meant for exploring so good movement controls and more freedom to move around would only make Iria better.

      I think slightly to make it more modern and fluid but I think at its core it'll still be the same. No official confirmation yet!

    On the 3D object format part kind. The program to convert PMG to FBX and FBX to PMG already existed due to MMD still being a thing people use.
    With the day/night cycle that is another kind of. They problem he is talking about is lighting not the day/night cycle. In short the shader they used to express the passage of time isn't compatible with UE5. Lumen replaced it as it isn't but for Lumen to work everything has to be in Lumen lighting or all not in it otherwise you will get unexpected lighting system bugs and lighting system conflicts.
    The fog in the distance really was a system resource saver technique but when you get to i think it was G22 you go to a dungeons that everything is in the fog and no way to get rid of it as that is what the dungeon's thing is. It is annoying and i do not like that one. The others it will do well in though it might mess with some of the story of G20 where you cannot see the final boss until towards the end of the scene if done not in a movie file but moved to a series of scripted events it will have to be done in a different way. It will fix the annoying part of G9 or was it G10 with that big boss in a shadow mission that basically took up the entire room but when you got to close it could disappear or take up all the screen. I hope they fixed that too so you do not have to be totally zoomed out to see what is going on.
    The dye part i guess is good more colors is always better kind of thing just how many people will complain that the color they dyed their outfit changed? That is going to be an issue more so around the people who invested a lot of time and/or money into getting the exact dyes for their outfit they wanted.

      In Korea, it has been about a year and a half since the Eternity Project was implemented in early 2023. A rough estimate is that it could be released as early as the second half of 2025-2030,
      I think it will be possible within 2030 at the latest.

    If we are lucky, we will get a mermaid or siren race and new class called Pirate or sky pirates. Maybe even throw an alien and fairy races. I want a dwarf race, too. I want to plant stuff around Mabinogi like in Arche Age. Hopefully, we can live in those apartments too like in Black Desert. Mabinogi needs to be bigger since it feels really cramped...

    not sure if its because its early and not finished but for unreal engine this looks pretty bad in gameplay (trailers look obviously way better). However trailer graphics is not even an achievement in this day and age, most games looks same or even better than in trailers.
