    My 15 year old spent almost a week with his grandparents and he actually told them about project 2025. They hadn’t heard of it. They do vote republican because they always have. 😢
    From Biden’s Michigan speech yesterday, I agree that politics is not an entertainment outlet and should not be treated as such. The more pole reporting I hear the more I envision a horse race.
    As a country we have come to expect showmanship because of people like Trump. He’s sucked the substance out of politics and made all performative, hence why nothing is getting done. If those of us who vote for people like that behaved like they do at work, we’d be fired.
    Always, always research the candidates and where they stand. Base your decisions on that. Not just how bombastic they are.

The point of journalism **IS** to speak truth to power, and they weren't wrong to do it: That the Democrat Party, that Great Power, is once again forcing a bad bet candidate onto the ballot because 'he's their made man/woman'. • @SmallSpoonBrigade
      @SmallSpoonBrigade หลายเดือนก่อน

      Why bother talking about it? The Democrats don't care about winning elections and there aren't 3rd parties that have enough infrastructure to beat both Trump and whatever candidate the Democrats put on the general election ballot. The infrastructure is now there for that, and it's not going away even if Trump does lose. The Democrats had their chance to finish off the GOP in 2016 and decided to use that as an opening to force HRC on the people. That lead to Trump winning and energizing some of the worst people possible for democracy.
      Perhaps talking more about how the Democratic leadership failed us would be more appropriate, because the people deserve a party that actually is pushing for their interests, rather than racist party, and not racist party that both agree on too many policies to represent a real choice.

    I don't understand why the US drags elections on for so long. In Canada, when a general election is called for which party/prime minister will be running the country, the parties have about two months to do their thing, and then Canadians vote. A few years back, it was dragged out to ten weeks. A lot of us were thinking, "Just get ON with it already!" Another advantage to shorter elections, besides concentrating voters' attention, is that less funding is required.

      The US picks the POTUS for 4 years. We're stuck with them for 4 years so long as they don't resign, die or are impeached. We've got more people than live in Canada that are eligible to vote in 50 states that each get to have a hand in the process. Not to mention Puerto Rico and a few other territories and the military personnel on bases around the world. Any even numbered year has an election for the House and several Senate seats, so politically active citizens are always surrounded by elections. The major factor is greed though. Who is President and what party is in power is a big fucking deal to Americans. That makes headlines about Presidential stuff keep eyes on screen/generate clicks consistently, which in turn drives engagement even if that engagement is people being exasperated, which becomes money from advertisers for the networks, which makes news agencies more likely to report on objectively insignificant crap because it makes them money.

      It might not, the SCOTUS has continued to chip away at voting rights and allow corporations to spend more and more money on races. By the time the younger folks get a chance to vote, the country is going to be in extremely bad shape and might not survive. It's been going on for decades. Al Gore conceded the race in 2000 to W, just because SCOTUS said so. It came out later that next year that he had actually won by tens of thousands of votes in Florida, but a bunch of "spoiled" ballots were tossed because the voters had written the name of the candidate in addition to removing the chad. And in 2004 W was re-elected because hundreds of thousands of votes in Ohio were screwed up.
      Then there' the gerrymandering which means that the Democrats need a significant majority over something like 54% just to get half the congressional seats.

They do not speak for me. I am more of a critic of all parties than just one. So I offer this just from my point of view my Republican party isn’t so much trouble. I don’t know what can possibly happen for them to get out of the hole. They are digging themselves into and on the other side, the Democrats, for some reason are so blinded by there, inability to look ahead that they are willing to put this poor man who just wants to do right, I am speaking of President Biden, that they are literally putting a man in his 80s to run their government. We already know the citizens of United States have their opinion, but just in concept the Democratic Party, who are in control of who represents them is willing to put an 80+ year old man to represent them. I hate saying this because it breaks my heart, but I am so glad my parents are no longer alive to see what’s happening here because it would just destroy them.

    A lot of the problems here are from ageism and ableism. Biden has a stutter. He always had a stutter. No one said his stutter made him mentally incompetent until the presidential race. Biden is soft-spoken. He always was. No one said it meant anything about his mental acuity or physical vigor when he was younger. Only now that he's old. The old man has a travel and work schedule that would make a man half his age exhausted enough to make a verbal gaffe or two (as every public speaker, including Trump, eventually does). But no one comments on that. They don't want to deal with their own prejudice. Only project their fears of Trump onto Biden. Biden is not to blame for the fact that Trump ran again. Biden is not to blame for the pandemic trauma that has caused everyone's minds to equate old with incompetent. Biden spent almost his entire adult life in government, so he has wisdom about governance that helped him to make the shrewd, bold choices in policy that got the country out of the covid hole Trump dug it into. A younger president would not have been able to do it. No one would have let them even if they had known how. Biden knows all the players in this elaborate world political chess game and he is a master at playing it. The other guy can barely follow checkers. The issue is not age. They're both old. The issue is their ability and will to do the job. Biden has it in spades. He has been building his whole career for these moments. He can save the whole world from this wannabe Hitler and people are complaining because the man has too much experience, wisdom, courage, humility, emotional intelligence.. it's like going for a job interview and being turned down because you're "overqualified. " Are we insane? Someone has volunteered for this thankless, difficult task and we're complaining that he's overqualified? How dare we look this gift horse in the mouth? If you don't elect Biden, Trump plans to destroy the whole world, WWIII-style with his authoritarian friends like Putin. They're setting up another axis. The rest of the world implores you. Hire the overqualified government guru who beat big pharma, covid, and OPEC, and rewrote decades of economic theory by saving the US economy ("trickle down economics" is a lie and he proved it doesn't work). All in one term! You are throwing away any chance at peace and prosperity just because the applicant doesn't look or sound like a Hollywood casting agent's archetype of a "president." Really? So he doesn't just have to be awesome at his job, he also has to be able to cameo in a movie about his job? You people are insane. If you throw him away, you all but guarantee a win for the wannabe Hitler and set the stage for another world War. How dare you?!

    It’s called early signs of dementia. Another one of the problems is that while most of those of us who voted for him last time will do it again this time BUT there’s election turnover some Biden supporters died since last election, lots of new voters and there are homeless republicans. Most of them won’t vote for a leader thats showing his age, and as a caregiver of people with dementia, and obvious signs of mental decline. I have volunteered to GOTV for years and I don’t have a palatable honest response to those concerns. The other thing is Joe needs to get his head around ALL the qualities of Kamala, she has so many good qualities. She will attract the young vote, they are all about lots of choices, diversity, equality…she’s got an impeccable record for all that. I wish they’d tone down the abortion issue, it’s important but there’s so much more. Especially with Project 2025 talking about challenging CONTRACEPTIVES!!!OMG! SCARY!!! I’d love it for Joe bowed out with the same, majestic grace he showed coming in, cleaning up after a mob boss and getting to work, hearing what the people want and creating great teams of people to see it through. What a super hero he would be to grasp the moment, and spread his magic and get his VP up there , and be her advisor (just like some divorced people are great friends these days, its ok for the prez to continue to be active, we are evolving!). Our president too is listening to his body and says he is confident he can run as president for 4 more years. Why cannot we trust him? Has he not been delivering already? Just look at his fantastic numbers. It is so disrespectful to keep focusing on his verbal gaffes. I know many young and middle-aged people (including me) who mix up names. Biden has been making these verbal gaffes throughout his career. No one then said that he was subject to (this sickening word) "cognitive decline". He is only human. They don’t want to take a chance on anybody who is going to stir the pot and they would rather have, and I am saying this because I am an American, born from Cuban parents so I get what’s going on here, a middle of the ground white male American to represent the United States rather than to take a chance on someone who may actually have an effect for the citizens of the United States.

    😮 man alive! I have lived in a fog for so many decades now. I never realized how in my face Donald Trump has been building up to his presidential run. He has since 1990 been slowly seeding himself in popular culture so that the move towards the presidency was not gonna be necessarily that hard to do and never dawned on me that the whole purpose of his TV show in 2004 and subsequent long-term relationship with the wrestling promotion. WWE was all just to promote himself so that when he put himself in the position eventually to run for president and attach himself with the extreme conservative right of the Republican party, the majority of American citizens question whether he had the capacity to actually run. He promoted himself as a businessman who could help financially save the country. That’s what his spiel was and it wasn’t until he was in office that promote his extreme conservative views. This guy actually pulled off what old-school politics used to do, he pretended to be the Wizard of Oz. He gave us what we wanted to see, but he was behind the curtain, pulling the strings all along to what he wanted at the end.
