Hey, clever idea. I just used some .22 pellets for single weights in paracord for my ultralight survival kits. Didn't have any split weights so rather than spending a couple bucks and a trip to the store, I just made two using your method. Perfect! Thanks for sharing the knowledge.
I've been wracking my brain on how to make an adjustable fishing weight and I'd forgotten about slinkies. The paracord sleeve never occurred to me! Got it now! Also the big shot source. Thanks!!
That’s good stuff man... we don’t use slinky weights for anything I’ve ever done, but it is good info in case we are ever in a situation where we need something like that! Thanks for the how-to and the great info man, you’re killing it!
Thank you Sir , I appreciate that ALLOT !!! your right you must make videos because it does take hours upon hours to make a video most ppl don't realize that lol
Well ,well, well ain't you showing your ability to come up with some awesome ideas, you are my kind of people. Maybe these will be an answer to my problem, which is losing too many rigs in the moving too fast to fish but i'm gonna try anyway water. Yet another great video. You are the man. Keep coming up with great simple ideas that's saves cash and keeps you fishing on a smaller budget always going to be a win win for me lol 👍👍👍😜🏴🦄🎣😁🤞✌️
Drifting for steelhead in the PNW many people use a swivel snap and surgical tubing to hold pencil lead weight. Take a snap swivel and using the snap end, pierce the tubing at a place that's just a little shorter than the inside of the snap. Close the snap, push the lead into the tubing. Thread your line through the swivel, now go fishin!
Nice job! Harbor Freight sells an orange funnel set that has a very small funnel that might be perfect for getting those pellets in the paracord. You might have to cut the end if it's too small for the pellets, buy I think it would work well and speed up the process.
Awesome 😎. I've made my own slinky weights from your previous video & it worked out great. I found it easier to use a bb loader & bore out the point to accommodate the bigger BB's "ball bearings" or round weights. Great video. 🎣😎🎣😎🎣😎🎣
I use these weights for catfish. Doesn't really break the bank if you make them yourself & lose them. Especially if you already have the materials. 👊🎣😎
Thanks for watching man I appreciate, a lot of ppl use paracord for slinky weights I'm not sure would came up with it catfishermen or steelhead fishermen lol
Absolutely loved it but you can also use rubber tubing with small blue wire nuts on the ends with a small eye bolt in 1 end. Love to see fellas getting it done and still using there heads and makings things with our hand and imaginations. That's what makes America great! Tight lines and great fishing brother!
I love the way you think , I was thinking about doing one on that too like the dragging stix , I've got another idea that might be better than all of em but I have to test it first thanks for watching and commenting
I bought a couple of very this walled metal tubes to fit inside paracord outer sheaths, then you use a punch to slightly flare one end of tube, they make filling very fast and easy plus they will last forever when making slinky weights! happy sinker making! you can use BBs size for smaller tubes

Appreciate you brother as always..
You can also make similar weights using 1/8 oz egg sinkers. I'm experimenting by sliding them onto a piece of aluminum electric fencing wire. They come 12 to a pack for $1.18 at Walmart. I did put heat shrink over them but I don't know if covering them is necessary and it doubles the price.
For a clean cut heat the wire cutter until it cuts and melts the paracord. You can space the split shot in your slinky at any spacing you want by pre crimping them onto fishing line and pulling that through the outer sheath, thinner longer more flexible. Thinking of bungy tube ? less likely to get caught up.
$7.00 for 6000 steel bbs over 4 lbs 84 bbs =1 oz for those without a scale found at Walmart lead has been impossible to find almost everywhere also take look at Paracord planet for para cord loots of colors and longer lengths good prices Big fan of your DYI veto’s

Hi great video I have a question I'm using the same products you have but I am having a hard time getting the lead down the cord gets stuck in middle using same stick you have
I don't know man the first one you put in is always tight then it loosens up , but I don't know why they are getting stuck, if you pull down on the paracord it opens up some maybe that will help , did you get the 1/4 " paracord . That's important too
you can get 50 lbs of sand or pea gravel at your local hardware store for around 5 bucks, even less if you buy it by the ton from a quarry or garden center. hell, go down to the river and grab a bucket full for free
That's a good idea 💡 . I like the way you think . But the down side would be that lead weighs almost 8 times what pea gravel does so your dragging weight would be 8 times bigger , ( per cubic foot weight )
Thank you brother , watch the drift weight and soild core weight videos I did , cause there's a lot of different ways to make em I like the fastest way
4,388,091 views I'll be honest I've never tried a slinky weight from shore but it's the same concept so it should work as long as you have the float holding your hook up off the bottom . That's the main thing . You may know what I'm talking about if you dont look up Santee rig
Up here in the PNW, many anglers use these for drift fishing for salmon and steelhead in rivers and creeks, especially if bottoms are Rocky or woody, because they are less apt to hand up as other weights do. We rig them with 3-way,(crossline)swivels. Business end tied to one swivel loop. Main line tied to other free loop. So, to answer your question, yes, if tied like this. In fact, up here, they are rarely used for trolling.
help me out brother, my catfishing spot is near the dam (above) from a fishing pear. I have to cast real far to get past the rocky flat to the drop off. I can reach it with braid but get cut off. I cant reach it with mono, I spooled braid and attached twenty feet of mono and can reach it this way. can you offer a rig suggestion for this situation. I get better casts with a 3 or 4 oz sinker on the very end but my hook gets wrapped in my line. If I put my sinker above the swivel and leader I cant get the distance needed AND my rig gets twisted and the sinker no long slides. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
These drag the bottom and you run a leader off your main line with a cork float on it to keep your hook off the bottom so it doesn't get hung up . You can google santee rig , that's what most people call this setup , if that doesn't help you let me know buddy
vitalarms.com/gamo-roundball-pellets-bbs-22-cal-632032554/ I found these online but your right I couldn't find em on Amazon, I guess they stopped carrying them, you can always get buck shot but you have to buy larger quantitys
The solid cord lead actually makes a lot of weights depending on the size . But they are very close in cost . But times money too and the solid core wins hands down in speed
@@FishinNStuff solid cord? you mean putting in pencil lead one piece into the paracord? rather then bb's....wouldn't that defeat the "slinky" effect....sorry if i misunderstood...

You could slide a straw from McDs into the para cord, and it will make it easier to get the lead inside.

Great thinking man!!
Too Fat To Hunt Outdoors I appreciate it brother I like doing stuff on da cheap lol
Cool! :)
😉 thanks for watch bro
Thank you
Thank you brotha!
Hey Brother Not to be rude but in your last couple videos you dont have thatspark that we all love.I hope all is good for you and the family
help me out brother, my catfishing spot is near the dam (above) from a fishing pear.
Have you tried to use steel B Bs instead of lead pellets?
You're awesome. I just sub..
Thank you brother I appreciate that man , your channel name is what's awesome lol . I love it
You forgot to "Test" these. I've never seen them before. How do you rig them?
These drag the bottom and you run a leader off your main line with a cork float on it to keep your hook off the bottom so it doesn't get hung up . You can google santee rig , that's what most people call this setup , if that doesn't help you let me know buddy
I'm going to try and do a video about how to use planer boards and drift weights soon
where do you get the blue part that slides on the line? and what r they called?
Those are called sinker slides
I can't find the 22 Cal round pellets
vitalarms.com/gamo-roundball-pellets-bbs-22-cal-632032554/
I found these online but your right I couldn't find em on Amazon, I guess they stopped carrying them, you can always get buck shot but you have to buy larger quantitys
Thank you for watching brother
Use bb’s to fill them
Leads heavier , which makes em smaller . And lead won't rust
WOULD HEAT SHRINK WORK THE SAME WAY ?
It sye does , I like those too . I actually have a video about that its really old and bad lol
How much does that weigh? I may have missed that.
35 lead ball's are about 2 oz ball park I didn't weight em just compared em but I will if you want me to , you can adjust the weight by the length
@@FishinNStuff that gives me a good idea. That's generally plenty when drifting. Thanks!
not bad
You see why I say the newer one is faster lol
Bro make your own weights with a soulder gun and some cheap soulder wire . You can make hundreds of them for cheap .
That's a good idea , I was thinking of a weight video I've already bought some stuff for it actually, thanks for the idea buddy
Yeah bro love the vids . Also do some soda bottle and milk jugs fishing hacks .
@@reellife565 hmm I'll have to think about that abby suggestions
@@FishinNStuff yeah bro make a soda bottle under water light , all kinds of stuff you can do plus keeps some bottles and jugs out of the landfill .
You can make catfish milk jugs or cappie jugs with a 16oz coke bottle works for bass also .
What kinda swivel that is?
Eagle claw I think .
Man I wish I found this video before I bought my weights paid 60 for 10 weights that were 1.5 oz
😳
I know what you mean this things get expensive
@@FishinNStuff thanks for videos some people like fishing I love fishing
nothing cheaper then slinky shot? what was actually the cheapest??
The solid cord lead actually makes a lot of weights depending on the size . But they are very close in cost . But times money too and the solid core wins hands down in speed
@@FishinNStuff solid cord? you mean putting in pencil lead one piece into the paracord? rather then bb's....wouldn't that defeat the "slinky" effect....sorry if i misunderstood...
awesome video man keep it coming.
ive subbed and hit u with a thumbs up hope to get some love back
