I really wasn't a huge fan of the Clone Wars, but Captain Rex was my favorite character. In also enjoyed his cameo in Rebels. The detail of this figure is insane. Just...wow. Even if he only comes with his blasters I'm all for it. I want.
I wasnt a fan of Clone Wars until it hit its 4th season. Then something snapped.. or clicked.. or something. And then I went all in. This is definitely worth picking up.

yeah! i look forward to seeing the difference! But honestly, this head sculpt is so good, if you had told me it was face printed, i would have believed it.
Mike Kaess the regular release comes with both hands to hold both pistols both hands have trigger fingers unlike this 1 only has 1 trigger finger 'that's the only perk over this release
Great review. Love this figure. Agree with everything except one point you made. The removable helmet is genius really, because that's how it is in real life. You don't remove your head to put on a helmet, you put your helmet over your head. The Mafex Boba Fett nailed this. They don't have a removable helmet, but to simulate perfect size, the sculpted an unpainted head under the helmet to ensure it was scaled properly. I think the only figure that the helmet was a bit big was Jango and tbh it's a little loose, could've been smaller. I do agree on the paint rub though. I think as of Recent, Rex and Sabine look perfect scale size with removable helmets.
If you gave this a five out of five that I feel like the regular release that comes with the photo realistic head will be a six out of five. Great review as always.
Awesome review! He's probably my favorite Black Series figure period. On a side note, I think that his elbow joints are re-tooled a bit from the other Black Series clones. On mine anyways, Rex's elbows can bend a LOT farther than my other clones' elbows.
i just checked and i think you're right. I know his chest is a little retooled too. Atleast the paint makes it look that way. This is just such a good figure. I can't wait to buy it again.
I'm guessing you hadn't gotten the nonexclusive Rex, but I really enjoy that one better. Mainly because the face printing is sooo much more accurate. I get what you say about helmets being morphed and faces getting squashed from helmets, but I've had my figure for almost a year now and I haven't noticed any of those issues, which is great! Hopefully yours is like that too. A mod I did was slice his left index finger from the rest of his fingers so he can hold his left DC-17, easy fix. On the tally marks, I think he started counting when he got his new Phase II armor, hence why he has only 131 droid kills (nice counting btw XD).
Yep! When I did this review, the non-exclusive version hadn’t been released yet. I ended up picking up the regular release too, and the face difference is night and day. It’s crazy. I am hesitant of altering my figures, but I might do that that because it really should have been done anyways. Good call! Thanks for watching!
I was able to get my Captain Rex thru Hasbro.com and absolutely love him. I Wish I bought two, the packaging is amazing. Rex is by far my favorite figure I own. Love the channel Mike keep up the good work
Rex looks great with the new Gree and the 4 pack order 66 phase 2 clones. The only one that sticks out like a sore thumb is Cmdr. Cody, as he's super clean. I don't display him with the phase 1 clones, separate time period.
Totally agree about highly detailed figures in a collection, it kinda farts upwind of the other figures. Though its a potpourri spiced fart. Great review kid!
im glad you got this fig so I could enjoy your review of it...I'm a little surprised you don't collect exclusives...but then again you have other exclusives in your collection so I'm guessing you mean convention exclusives...I normally don't collect con exclusives either but only because I can't justify the prices...but this one I got lucky on and got it on H.T S....this fig was worth the 33.89 shipped price....as far as I know you are right about the regular release...only the pistols will come with rex...and instead of hand painted face it will be the real photo paint technology...I like collecting variants...and i appreciate the hand painted figs...even though the regular release will look better...supposedly the paint apps will be different to ...but I don't think that's going to happen...what I do know...is I now have am Awsome looking phase 2 clone collection and now I wish they'd put out more prequel characters....
Mike Kaess yeah I feel the same about most con exclusive too...this one was a little different because of a few factors for me...one I'm an in box collector...(at least until I buy enclose glass cabinets for dust reasons)..and this box was quite unique...also while the new real photo technology will be great...I do appreciate hand painted when done well like this one...and not only will it be a rather rare variant it will also be one if the last hand painted faces in black series amd for some reason I want them all lol...the extra 2 long blasters were an added bonus but not the main draw...the ultimate deciding factor was I got lucky and ordered one at retail off Hasbrotoyshop...I figured it was worth the minor shipping charge to have an actual con exclusive...plus he's a cool fig...lol...one side note though...the fig I ordered arrived with a damaged box due to shipping and very poorly centered paint apps on the helmet...which really bummed me out...but in the end...a friend sent me a perfect one and Hasbro let me keep the fig and refunded my money...so I sent my friend 40 for his thought...in the end it worked out and I've got 2 of these things lol

This is one of the few figures I really wish I could have found, when I say that I mean the carded figure. The distribution of the figures are so weird i mean many still cant find the gamorrean gaurd and my target still has five

I'd expect alot more kills. 131 kills sounds respectable, though Rex with two pistols. he'd get more. Once I heard Legolas and Gimli tallying their kills, 42 & 43 in the Battle of Helm's Deep and around that outside Minas Tirith it sounds reasonable. And Rey counting the days she'd spent on Jakku.
+Shaneconnington 27 someone said it was the count of the brothers he lost in battle. Another person said it was just the general type droids he’s killed.
Interesting theories, its a great design touch for his armour kills or brothers lost, maybe crab droids counted as only one like the Oliphant, and Rey possibly had flashes of her force powers if she reached the top of the walker.
It's the amount of separatist leaders him and his team eliminated. Separatist commanders, admirals, captains, important high ranked Droids, etc. Not sure if someone clarified yet.

It's the weld marks from building his armor. In the show its not as pronounced. He wasn't happy with the phase 1 armor, he wanted to separate himself and be more unique versus just another clone. To construct and make his armor, he used various pieces of armor from various sources, which is where the phase 2 armor came from and his arc pieces. Plus the Mandolorian sight finder, ammo packs, etc.
Arc trooper armour? Arc troopers have reinforced chest plate armour, better arm gauntlets, double sided pauldrouns and kamas. Yes there is a likeness but Rex isn't and arc. . .
Editing isn’t the problem, recording is. I don’t script anything, I just talk. And then I cut out all the mistakes and excess shut i decide I don’t like. But I tried scripting and it came off wooden and I didn’t like it.

i think you're right, but i feel like swapping heads would still be preferable over rubbing the helmet over the paint on the face over and over again.
