    Keep in mind : The singer learns icelandic for this song. He wants to sing this song as authentic as possible, so he works quite a ton of time with two teachers to get it right.
    So the chorus is in english, but the rest is in fact in icelandic, not german.

    • @hegamona2864
      @hegamona2864 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      He also learned swedish and french and latin for just a few songs. they sing in a lot languages

    • @nudelsalat4912
      @nudelsalat4912 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wow, that impresses me! Think it over : It's really hard to learn another language and speak it nearly fluently.
      Nevermind to sing in another language!!!
      World class!
      Thank you both for the info!

    • @eddiewinehosen6665
      @eddiewinehosen6665 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@nudelsalat4912 It's actually easier to learn to sing in a foreign language. Proof, lots of singers especially in the opera world learn to sing in Italian and German since many operas are written in those languages without learning how to speak those same languages. Not saying it's not impressive but it's not harder to learn to sing then to speak. When you sing you have to learn phonetically, for a song like this, maybe 30-50 lines of text and that's it.

    • @beardpwn282
      @beardpwn282 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Nah thats the original Norse Language, not Icelandic. Its in the original poem in the Egils Saga (which was found in Iceland, ill give you a partial Corrent for that)

    Definitely react to Saltatio Mortis - Loki!! They are really good. This cover was amazing, the effort they put into it is amazing. Lead singer (Alea der Bescheidene) is a cosplayer, he has the most accurate and awesome Eivor costume ever.

    Great video, love Saltatio Mortis, their Prometheus is epic too, pity it's not in English for everyone to understand, the lyrics are beautiful (the legend of Prometheus). The German folk/folk metal bands rule (In Extremo, Tanzwut, Santiano, Faun, etc etc) and German medieval fests are the best both in quality and the atmosphere. Hope to get to see them again soon 🤘🔥🍻

    Thanks for your good reaction again! :)
    there's a shit ton of german folk bands you can check out!
    Saltatio Mortis has some really good songs too. some are also politically interesting, but dunno if you'd get some references there, because e.g. in one song there's a reference/'parody' of the first paragraph of the german anthem (which was forbidden, bc history xD);
    but if you want to check it out, it's "Wachstum über alles" ((financial) Growth above everything). the above mentioned part is the refrain :)
    otherwise there'd also be other commenters who will probably flood you with other awesome requests :D
    have a nice day!

    i realy love the productionvalue saltatio mortis put into that video, and i love theire version of that song so much, so powerfull. but i have one complain, why do vikings always have to look like bikers, where are the chainmails where are the silver armbracers etc. thats something i disliked at the Vikings TV show to. but anyways it is entertaining, it is an awesome sound i love the band and thx for your reaction enjoyed it very much! :)

    Man react to old school BFMV song react to 4 Words To Choke Upon

  • @kheidal
    @kheidal 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I love the song, but the "Old Norse nerd" in me is kinda annoyed with all the people covering this and saying it's "an old viking song". Sorry, but it is not. It is as "Old Norse/Viking" as the Vegvísir symbol ^^ One dating from 13th century and the other from the late 14th - early 15th century. Both from well after the end of the "Viking Age".
    But as I said: LOVE the song, (though the lead up to it in Egil's Saga is rather... to put it midly: grim), and the effort put into this particular cover is AMAZING! Production, effort to actually learn Icelandic, the costumes... 10/10.
