Hi. A 12v, 4 pin relay connected via your reverse light wiring and another constant 12v source would have resolved the drop in current that was causing the backup camera issues. Most modern cars use a canbus system which uses less than 12v to various systems around the car.
Cheers for the tip. I did that for for the headset dimmer function (when it eventually dawned on me months later) but it didn't occur to me at the time that that was the issue. I'm not sure where I'd get a solid 12V supply - there's a power outlet back there, I guess that would have worked. One for next time!
Range Rovers have 10s of ECUs and, as required, have different power supplies. While you will have +12v in two locations, if they do not have a common Earth you will have problems.
I admire your patience and determination to arrive at solutions!
Thanks. I'm also driven by a desire not to have 2.7 tonnes of dead car on my driveway!
Man, that fought you. Awesome work. No way I’d have thought of a relay.
Cheers, but it did take me two months to think of it!

They all use different pulse voltages as well so I have found that relays and straight 12V supply (power socket) seems to be a reliable workaround
Love it trying to put digital into an analogue car lol, keep the faith.....
Well, it's annoyingly a bit digital and a bit analogue at the same time, hence the struggles!
