    I have always believed feeding your dog only kibble is like feeding your children food only from a box.

    • @micheleroyalty4092
      @micheleroyalty4092 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It depends on the kibble. Mine get NutraSource, appropriate for age. They love it. They stay exactly the right weight. It is a lot more expensive than children’s boxed food. Also, my dogs are very healthy.

    • @michaelmischko847
      @michaelmischko847 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In my exp, kibble brands come in play when your dogs digestion cant handle certain complexes.
      Your average dog will enjoy basically any kibble and be healthy doing so if you feed it the appropriate amount based on his weight and activities.
      Theyre dogs, not weak humans.

  • @brytonmassie
    @brytonmassie ปีที่แล้ว +14

    The kibble part ties into the fact that if you are going to give them high caloric/rich foods like meat you must also give them plenty of ways to burn that energy.

    I have had GSDs for 25 years, 2 at a time. I only bred once and realized it was very intense and required many hours daily. My dogs have all come from German lines, not American. They are healthier, and I have their generic background going back 10 generations of dogs tested for every disease specific to the breed. I used professional trainer for the first 3, and the most recent one. But I socialize then when they are 9 weeks old, have been vaccinated, except for rabies. I take them to pet stores, lumber yards, businesses, even my pharmacy. As pups they are very friendly to all. Mine have naturally protected me, and have saved my life from burglars 3 times. I feed them very high quality kibble, same as my breeder uses. It is expensive, but they love it and it keeps their teeth clean. I have them professional groomed every summer as the blow their coat in warm weather. I have even vacuumed my dogs with a Dyson set made for that purpose. They do shed a lot. Mine travel with me, go into motels, are very good kids as they always let me know when it is time to pee….and poop if need. It is usually 4 times a day. I do share my food with them if it is high protein, like a Turkey sandwich. I never give them sweets. My GSDs are from a great breeder, so I pay 3500-4500 per dog, they come chipped, vaccinated, tested by a Vet. My breeder has the best German breeding dog in California. I am 76 and have no problems with my dogs. They really love me and my friends. I teach children to be calm with them, and not to over excite them. A great dog for people who really want a dog to spend time with and don’t leave them alone too long. While working, they went to Daycare.

      They really are great dogs. I have one who was dumped at my work as a 5 month old pup (she was emaciated and abused so stopped growing and was the size of a 10-12 week old). She had to go through some therapy of her own, trust exercises, confidence training. Today Khaleesi is an amazing service dog and helps me in ways I could never imagine. She gave me my independence. She's 8 years old now and topped out at just 45 pounds.
      Now we are starting again with a new German Shepherd puppy, Vex. She gets to help train the puppy to do just as good a job as she has for me these past 6 years. Vex is a quick study and has already learned a few commands after just 4 days at home. She's got a good teacher and big sister in Khaleesi. Love these dogs. 🥰🐕‍🦺

    It's a privilege to be owned by a GSD . Sadly I missed puppyhood for my rescue. I was lucky my dog Duke was trained well. If you have a puppy in your life they will almost certainly grow up into a sweet lovely dog if you train them.

    I fed my GSD puppy raw meat, vegetables, white rice, plain white bread at times torn or cut into small squares, I used to occasionally break a raw egg on the top of his dinner. His had dried dog snacks as a treat during the day, he loved cheese and banana. His coat is immaculate. As for when he did wrong as a puppy, I used to turn my back on him sometimes. With this he would go into another room, give a big sigh and then sulk 🤣 on the positive these dogs deserve love and respect. They are proper dogs and highly intelligent. Also very loyal and protective 🥰

    Regarding #3;
    I chastise a friend of mine religiously about doing this to his dog. Now she barely listens to him and favours me (I don't tolerate her insubordinace) and he's left clueless.
    It's both sad and annoying at the same time. But its like you said before, pets in general can, and often will, be a reflection of you.

    If your dog is a puppy protect them from extreme weather as it takes awhile for the double coat in. Avoid exercise which strains the joints until they are more fully developed (ie agility). I would also get them used to being handled especially ears, mouth, feet etc to get them accustomed to exams and grooming

    • @theclumsyprepper
      @theclumsyprepper หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Ravzie That depends on the dog, obviously.
      My two require totally different levels of exercise for example. The boy is much quieter and likes to just flop and play with his toy, with just am hour or two of exercise while his sister needs hours of activity (pulling five foot tree trunks around the yard, jumping through obstacles, running etc) to get rid of her pent up energy.
      Each dog is different so "properly" will look different for each of them.

    What is your opinion about leaving a 3 months old puppy alone for 1 week? A person is supposed to come once daily to "play" and feed him. The dog will be left outside in a fenced backyard. The owner doesn't want to travel with his newly adopted puppy. Is it safe and not traumtic to the dog? Or this decision is selfish and cruel to the dog?
