I think having at least one version CATIA V5 2015-2019, V6 2015-2019 (along with Enovia), and Siemens NX 10/11/12 (along with ICEM Surf), on your workstation is essential. That's my honest view.
Thanks. I have one question as an Industrial design grad who is into automotive field. Knowing how to use 3ds max, solidworks and Alias when I want to be part of the studio design team should I learn catia or Nx or is Alias just fine for Advanced concept modeling and presentations? Will the engineers add thickness and finish of the parts so the CAM can focus on Steel die tool making for Pressing sheet metals in body production?
thanks you, i have worked 5 years for jatco corporation, they only use NX to create 3D model of car is engine or car is gearbox from 2D drawing...from casting to machining process
CATIA is old. Favorite to engineers above 45 years of age. Dassault is tring hard to improve with ENovia but... NX is the big fish here. Solid Works tries to compete further but it's been based on marketing profit and not into engineering innovation. Autodesk remains the big competitor to Siemens (regarding CAD). Dassault is out.
CATIA is favorite to older... ok, "more experienced" engineers. NX though is working on a much contemporary concepts and blows off CATIA making it more attractive to young engineers.
@@liliaeneva8113 How much will Siemens have paid to keep all of Daimler? Many times changes of this type are made behind closed doors and only a few managers are convinced to see the "good" in that change.
@ARJUN A K, The surfaces in SolidWorks aren't as accurate as they are in nx or catia. SW isn't compatible in the designing of truly complex systems which require immense accuracy, like for aerospace applications and others, and this is mentioned in their user agreement too; verbatim, "Neither the Offering nor any of its components are intended for use in the design or operation of nuclear facilities, life support systems, aircraft or other activities in which the failure of the Offering or such components, or both, could lead to death, personal injury, or severe physical or environmental damage.".
Shailesh Joshi thanks for your reply Actually when I see the user interface and tools of these softwares, I feel silidworks is more simple Can you please tell me which software, solidwworks or nx take more time to design a component
ARJUN A K We can't compare them, because they are operated at an entirely different level. Nx is comparable with catia, which is made by Dassault. The same company which makes SW. Why would a company create two softwares for one purpose? SW is like a bicycle and nx is like a motorcycle. You can ride a motorcycle at the speed of a bicycle, but you can't do the opposite. But since you seem such a big fan of SW you would be happy knowing that SW is using some of the .dll files from catia in it's newer versions. Which means in future you MIGHT get solidworks with similar capabilities as catia.
ARJUN A K and to answer your question, yes. Nx takes more time to create a part than sw does. But one can get used to it pretty quickly. In fact nx is similar to sw in many ways as far as ui is concerned.
Nx Siemens, and Mechatronics concept designer are so powerful and you can make with them everything that you can imagine.
CATIA has ICEM and IMA. Maybe managers in Daimler use NX, but designers definitely use Catia.

GM has been using NX for years, Stellantis group also.

Depends on automotive manufacturer. Catia is normally used to map the clay surfaces. V6 is used now, V5 Rx is being slowly transitioned to V6
CATIA is a all in one solution. You don't need Alias or something else, because Alias and ICEM almost identical things.
NX is the best 3D Software i have ever use !!
yeah thats true, specially for aerospace engineering

You use NX in Vietnam? How much did it cost or is it already available on torrent ;-)
Same for me
Obviously you never used anything else LOL ... NX is so damn anti-intuitive, I hope I will never have to work with it.
Nx 10 is good to user friendly access
The real situation is:
Mercedes is German
Siemens is German
Dassault Systems is French
And the prices maybe
...
You clearly did not watch the video.
Summed up for you:
They were forced to use Enovia if they stayed with Dassault.
SolidWorks wants me to add more RAM, NX runs smooth
The surface finish of catia is unmatched
alias enters the chat
NX gets the same finish.
@@completedizasta4610 can alias do b side surface, plastic molding?
@@Stocjon1985 never people use nx because it's cheap
@@afzalahmad7048 they use it for many reasons.
Both have have some good feature but lack speed and its painful
Alias showing in the video! XD
For a mechanical engineering student, the CAD I should learn to use is NX over SolidWorks. I learned that Apple Inc uses NX.
Due to the obvious fact Solidworks is only Microsoft compatible
@Jazzmaster Jay i use apple but i partitioned it and use windows in apple hahah
the video image is too poor, you need to fix it more
i don't know. solidworks and catia are already so powerfull.
Pitfalls!, Autodesk definition. 🤣😂
NX interface is painful but not more than Catia v5. I find creo better than both. Can't say anything about 3dexperience.
maserati and nissan uses NX to make car and entire manufacturing facility
So Alias Autostudio isn't necessary to learn? 🤔
No, for Mfg. Facility they use Autodesk Inventor.
@@kenconcepts It's easy and fun to learn it. Very cool software.
@@deniszaika9534 thanks. I'm already like 50% good in alias now. I'll learn NX/Catia as soon as I'm done with Alias. Just for a few weeks from now.

Makes sense Catia is garbage compared to NX.
Solid works is more user friendly and has better 3d modelling capabilit than nx.
Just compare SW 2016&nx11.
It is the fact
Frank Stoner why solid works is called beginner software?and nx is high end why?
