Finale was kind of underwhelming or at least different than I expected… but doesn’t mean it was bad. But I gotta say that Olivia Coleman and Kingsley Ben-Adir’s performances really stood out to me and made the show, hope we see more of Sonya Falseworth in the MCU… would be interesting to see her stand up to Val at some point

Hmm... I thought it was more or less the logical way to end off Secret Invasion, given what we already know about future MCU plans. We know Fury won't die, so the only way he'd survive his encounter with Gravik was for someone to pose as him. G'iah was the only logical option given she's young & have more room for future development compared with Vara.

I think this finale was rushed and very lackluster. And how did she get ghosts powers to phase if ghost wasn't there? Also, Ritsons speech threatening all alien life on the planet could've easily been directed at new asgard as well, I wonder if the US will attack them too
I think that scene of ritsons speech was meant to be the end of his character and never to be seen again and the thunderbolts will be the result of that

I know it's not specified and it only mentions the Endgame battle as source for the Harvest but knowing Fury, I'm sure he had every super out there tracked and followed until he got their DNA. That's priceless material.

You know what's one of the most saddest thing with some of the Skrull reveals? If Rhodey was replaced during the events of Captain America: Civil War, then he doesn't know that Tony is dead.

I think the biggest overlooked thing might've been how the president declaring war on the skrulls really parallels and sets the stage for people to become afraid of mutants later. The presidents speech reminded me a bit of Days of Future Past and the early seasons of the 90's X-Men show. Was really surprised they missed the opportunity to introduce a Trask-like character.

I genuinely don’t think they replaced Rhodey that early. There’s just no way. The biggest tell for me is during Tony’s last moments in Endgame. Rhodey puts his hand on Tony’s head and looks at him for the last time. Even with his memories, i don’t think Skrull Rhodey would have done that. Wouldn’t make sense. On top of that, Tony was helping Rhodey use his legs again with the help of those metal legs at the end of Civil War. And they way Rhodey talks to Ross in Infinity War? Nah his mannerisms just don’t match what we see with Skrull Rhodey. I think they only started replacing people after the Blip.
Also in endgame we see rhodey bleed blood, if he was a skrull the blood would have been purple. Also in falcon and the winter soldier rhodey is walking without the use of his braces
Rumour is that it most likely happened near the end of Civil war.
We do see that Skrulls start experiencing the emotions of the humans whose memories they copy as their own. Just look at Fury's wife.

You’re telling me Gravik was on Earth the entire time during the MCU just trying to pull strings with absolutely no hint to it at all? No. They only made it canon during Secret Invasion. Based on Rhodey’s hospital robes and him being not able to walk immediately. I think he was abducted after Civil War which makes it kinda dark. He has no idea that his best friend is no more and the avengers are history.

Secret Invasion started so well, I was really hooked to see where the show was going, and how it would end. They built it up so well, to only let you down in the end. Nick really gave Gaia the real DNA of all those super beings, makes no sense. She now has the power of a god, lame, and Nick just lets her go work for the Brits. Nick stops the bad Skrulls from taking over the Earth, but now humans are going to hunt down and kill the good Skrulls, and Nick just leaves back to his space station to make peace with the Kree. Terrible end to what was a pretty good Marvel show.
I agree with your last point mainly but especially not the second. Its not all happy endings unfortunately, the skrulls almost started ww3 without the president even knowing, you can not blame the majority of people for wanting the skrulls gone of the planet unfortunately. The whole gaia working with the brits, i dont really see the issue tbh - fury typically doesn't work close with the top tier superheroes in the mcu.

If she had just brought a fake vial, how would it have ended differently? They would have still had equal Power Levels and Olivia Coleman had already secured the President.
Secret Invasion started good with great potential, but this was rushed. I did love Gi'ah's display of her new replica powers 😮 If she can master and keep it - she will be so powerful, it's alot to grasp! Fury should have found a planet by now lol imo we deserved a post credit scene.
this finale felt so underwhelming, I expected so much and my heart dropped when I saw that the episode was only about 35 minutes long.
They also poorly rushed and the fight was really done in bad taste , that CGI was so unfinished

I found the whole show very underwhelming. Sure there were some acting stand outs: Samuel L Jackson, Olivia Coleman etc. the writing and direction was such a let down. What happened to the Capt America: Winter Soldier style show we were promised??
Mhm, yeah. I did enjoy the one-on-one dialoge sequences, but beyond that? They killed Maria Hill and Talos for this? Jeez, I wonder what the show was like before the reshoots.

I don’t think Gaia will have access to Wanda’s chaos magic. Those powers are unique to her because she is the scarlet witch. I guess after the finale, we definitely have a chance to see the real Abigail Brand in the future. Also if rhodey really was replaced after civil war then god damn this guy is gonna have a heart attack knowing tony is dead now. It also kinda makes that heartfelt moment between tony and “rhodey” in endgame weird now
It would also be sad, because I think Nebula and Rhodey became friends during Endgame. I think she bonded with Stark's group, and maybe even Pepper considers her a close friend now (and possibly even Morgan). That would be like another death to Nebula.

If gravik was on the harvest team and the harvest happened after end game, then I would assume his plan and replacing Rhodey also happened after endgame, so I think Rhodey was still himself in endgame

I loved Olivia and Kingsley, honestly she’s amazing and so likable yet cunning and witty, and he really makes you hate him as a villain. They’re both outstanding.

I just was watching the episode when you posted. I can’t believe no one tried the basic test of slicing their arm or hand or something to detect whether someone was a skrull or not (Supernatural was doing that for years among other tests). I did laugh out loud when Fury called Ritson a one term president. Everyone needs a flerkin to watch for skrulls. I did kind of expect that Fury would figured out a way of corrupting or sabotaging the “Harvest “ DNA collection. This was big vendetta reminds me of all the anti mutant plots in the X-Men books and anti Inhuman plots in Agents of SHIELD. I am disappointed we didn’t get post credit scene too.

this show had so much potential and i really felt like it was too short & didn’t end well. the stakes weren’t high, but the cast was great. this episode really left me thinking “huh what? that’s it?” when it ended.
The world going into WW3 wasn't high stakes !???? And millions dying if it happened? I agree the show was a let down but u sound stupid when u say the stakes weren't high.
if G'iah's powers are permanent then this has to absolutely make her the most powerful entity on earth, especially if she can hone those powers, literally has every power we have saw so far.
If Fury was smart, he'd have had it engineered to NOT be permanent. A failsafe contingency plan to his contingency plan.
@@budgiecat2885I think it is engineered. We don't see Gia'h and Gravik completely using the powers. Arms, or some other body parts and not in whole. Also, if it were pemanent, Gravik could have healed the last blow with Extremis's powers, but no, straight death.

As much as I like G'Iah, I can't believe Fury just gave her *all* the powers of everyone involved in the Battle of Earth.
I expected her to somehow get rid of the powers after defeating Gravik (like Pepper getting rid of Extremis at the end of Iron Man3), not for her to just walk away & do whatever she wants - she's possibly one of *the most* powerful characters in the entire MCU now 3:20 10:51

They showed that the skrulls could not tell each other apart from normal humans During the Talos and Gravick meeting. That's why Talos was surprised when everyone in the restaurant was a skrull.
That was inconsistent though.
The run times for these episodes were definitely disappointing. Kinda makes the series pointless.

The cast is totally stellar. The series just felt so CHEAP and small. You can almost see the accountants behind the camera saying "Cut to budget saving angle" or "No we don't need to show them as Skrulls, just leave them in Human mode". What might of been more interesting was to show Skrulls defecting from Fury to other governments or to show other bad guys using the Skrulls for their own ends and Fury realizing Humanity will just make them slaves to their own power plays and he has to make amends and get them out of this terrible situation he brought them into.
For my money WandaVision and Loki are by far the best if the Disney+ MCU and everything else has been somewhere on the "meh" scale.

What all Iron Man characters like Titanium Man and the Crimson Dynamo are we going to see in the Armor Wars movie? Would it be awesome if Crimson Dynamo became allies with War Machine in the MCU just like Red Guardian worked alongside Black Widow in her solo movie?
Judging by Rhodey wearing a hospital gown and having trouble walking, it would seem they are implying he was taken while still in rehab for his spinal injury.
Charlie, you've done it again. Great episode breakdown and overall AMAZING breakdown of the series. I, too, am extremely surprised that there was NO cameos or post-credit scene. I DEFINITELY thought there would at least be a post-credit scene setting up THE MARVELS movie. It's really cool that we might actually get to see Capt. Britain and a reunion with Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke, if that really was a set-up for Excalibur. Cool, cool, cool stuff, I personally do wish they stayed closer to the comic story of "Secret Invasion" and with "Super-Skrull,", but I get why it was changed. How would Gravik have gotten "Fantastic 4" powers if they haven't been introduced into the "Main" or "current" MCU roster? The way they did make Gravik have "similar" "Fantastic 4" powers was a cool work around. Thank you again Charlie for another kick-ass series breakdown. See ya in the next one!

Carol Danvers definitely could've offered them Thanos' garden planet, & I'm sure Fury probably found out about it when he came back from the blip.

She literally says it's just him. Even *if* that's not a viable planet for the Skrulls (which it should be), it feels like a plot hole that they didn't at least mention it/ come up with an excuse for why it's not.

Yeah, we have to admit, skrulls could have had much better motivation than Nick fury not being able to find a planet out of the trillion billion ones 🤦♂️
@@almightyClairvoyant We have no evidence of other life existing on that planet, but they could've at least explained *why* it's not an option, instead of making it seem like they just forgot about it.
Why's that crazy? Like Charlie said in the video 7:42, there are *billions* of habitable planets out there, surely some of them would be uninhabited, even in the MCU. Thanos explored the universe for *years* while he culled planets, he could've easily come across a few uninhabited ones on his way.
Not to mention, Thanos had the Infinity Stones, so he could've even *made* himself a planet, or used something like the Embers of Genesis (from What If...?) to heal a dying planet like Titan.
What would have happened if we saw Talos dealing with bad Skulls like Gravik in this episode if he wasn't killed in the previous episodes? Do you think he would have become a Super_Skrull?

Being Fury, outting Skroady earlier could have spooked Gravik, or put him on the defensive. The plan needed to have Gravik believe that he was winning and that it was Fury on the ropes.
I hope Sharon Carter is a skrull. So we can explain away the whole powerbroker thing and say it was all the skrull’s fault. It would align more with their goals of amassing power across the world too.

Since Endgame, I’ve always wondered why Rhodey wasn’t more sad seeing Tony die. He just had a “damn that sucks” kind of face. This explains a lot.
Great Video but..... I think you're wrong about how long Rhodes has been a Skrull. I believe it was soon after Endgame - for 2 main reasons:
1: The Falcon & Winter Soldier series happens about 2 weeks after Endgame and Rhodes is still using leg braces to walk (has been since Civil War) and not at all in his next appearance which was here in Secret Invasion.
Now people may argue "He Healed". Ok maybe..... That's possible. But...
2: In the final battle of Endgame, you can see Rhodes bleeds RED - not Skrull Purple. This can't be faked. Unless the make-up person on the day used the wrong colour on Don Cheadles face 🙃

Sure looks like Gravick killed off a LOT of Skrulls before this episode even started. But it was nice to be shown correct that Rhodes was captured way back in Civil War. However Gia is now insanely overpowered so something must break at some point.

I actually think Rhodey wasn't replaced until after Endgame. I just rewatched Endgame yesterday and in the funeral scene Rhodey still has his braces on his legs. I've seen some other people pointing out the in Falcon and Winter Soldier that version of Rhodey isn't wearing any braces when he walked. So I think he was switched sometime after Endgame and before Falcon and Winter Soldier.
Yeah, I think so too. It'd open too many potential plot holes to go that far back.
My opinion is that the episode length was hampered the show. It was like the clipnotes version. As for the DNA you will be surprised how much gets left behind. If the Skrulls were sent they did clean up and it would be treated like a crimes scene. So if Thor drank beer from a can and that leaves DNA. However, the real question is how is the DNA not corrupted.

What's funny is Gravik and Giah are equally matched in terms of power, but Giah seems to be more focused and figured out how to combine the right powers better than Gravik. It's all a matter of skill.

You know Khaleesi was gonna sign on to the MCU to become a badass powerhouse. Excellent final episode. Also I believe the Valkyrie are more powerful than the average Asgardian. Thor and Loki had an extra level of apprehension/respect for Tessa and she was able to spar with the Hulk. The mythological Valkyrie, including in the MCU, should have been imbued with a portion on the Odinforce.

The hospital gown Rhodey was in is meant to confirm he was taken from the hospital during cap civil war. He couldn’t even attempt to walk(he was suppose to be in the rehabs process), the sunlight also bothered him like he was under for way long.. Everyone else that was saved were in they’re regular clothes. So it’s definitely a deliberate way to tell us Rhodey has been a skrull since after civil war.. Crazy to think he doesn’t even know Tony passed and skrull Rhodey was in Infinity war & Endgame..

Jon Favreau’s first attempt, Russo brothers, James Gunn, and Ryan Coogler (first Black Panther). For the others people liked, it was because of the team ups.

Nobody wants to admit it because it's not true or (not many people believe it's true). There were duds in every phase (Captain America, Thor: Dark World, Age of Ultron) and there are good movies now (Shang Chi, Wakanda Forever). The Harvest came from that final battle in endgame. So, how did they get DNA from Thanos and his crew? I understand obsidian, but ebony maw died in space and then was dusted.
Being dusted in endgame would have made all their blood disappear as well. Also, Carol doesn't bleed very easily, so how'd they get her DNA?
Well there was still blood shed on the battlefield so they dont really need the bodies themselves, but ebony maw idk, maybe when he fought ironman and doctor strange in new york during infinity war.
Ebony Maw and the rest of the Black Order from the past showed up with Thanos through that portal during Endgame. So yeah, they all were present for the Battle of Earth. Also, Carol probably did get hurt at some point fighting Thanos who directly hit her with the powers of the Infinity Stones.

I'm pretty sure Rodey has only been a skrull since before falcon & the winter soldier. Since that was when he was no longer shown needing the exo-suit since he needed help to get out since his legs r still messed up.

Which means it if took place before The Marvels, then G'iah, who now also has Carol's light based powers, would be caught in said entanglement, not just Carol, Monica and Kamala.
This also tracks because Fury asks his wife Varra/Priscilla to help him with the Kree/Skrull peace talks.

If Skrull Rhodey was already appeared from Infinity and Endgame, how she doesn't hate Carol Danvers when they met? Also why he doesn't wear the Mark 2? I think it’s a mistake to say that getting a hero’s DNA also give you their cosmic/celestial powers too. So by getting Thor, Wanda, Carol, or if Jean was introduced you’d have thunder and lightning powers/long life, chaos magic/reality warping power, binary form, and the phoenix force.
I get if you’re getting base powers but also the magic/god/omega status is wild. Quill has human and celestial DNA but he’s no longer a celestial being after Ego died so those powers don’t seem connected to DNA but a person.
You cant get Thors lightning powers from his DNA
Just like you wouldnt be able to get it from Jane Foster's DNA
And you cant get CHAOS MAGIC from Wanda's DNA
You cant get Dr Strange's powers from his DNA
and you shouldnt be able to get Drax's tattoos from his DNA

It doesnt make sense that they had the dna of thanos and his army besides the hand of cull obsidian. Everybody from 2014 except gamora was dusted, so id say this also affected all spilled blood, weapons and so on.
Sword was able to get Vision's body from Wakada...I'd imagine they got some of Thanos blood when stormbreaker hit the ground.

I agree that the show sure did try to imply heavily that Rhodey has been gone for a long time/civil war timeframe. This just doesn’t logically make sense in the MCU timeline. Who kidnapped him back than and why! The skrulls were all working for fury and believing in him. Seems like during Endgame even Garvick was his best and lead solider. Hence why he led the team to cleanup after the thanos fight. After Fury blipped back and endgame happen is when Gravik realized everything was a lie and became a rebel. So the need to kidnap and memory steal all these people wasn’t a thought until recently, like the last few years. I think we are what 3 years removed from Endgame in the MCU official timeline. So it just isn’t adding up that he was kidnapped any time before Gravik became a rebel.
I have to say I was right about G'iah being the one to kill Gravik, after everything he took from her it just made too much sense to have this be a final battle. I was also right about not every Avengers DNA being composed in the Harvest as some of them are just humans with special suits or skills. But this show also has some loose ends, I really thought that Ritson would die in this episode since Ross takes over for him anyway, but the "one term" thing is probably going to be the thing that ruins him especially after Talos is his Skrull form saved his life. I will say G'iah just accepting Sonya's offer after she told her "I will use you" makes me feel like G'iah didn't learn anything which is a little frustrating.
Missed pretty hard on Rhodes. He bleeds red in end game. He was swapped out after that.

This finale was so promising even though it was a very unfinished CGI fight. I wish it could’ve been a lot longer because it’s so poorly rushed. They didn’t really answer How Rhodes was kidnapped because he said that he was held captive for a long time so it really means that the Rhodey Rhodes we knew in infinity war and endgame wasn’t the real one and the one that was kidnapped took place right after Civil War, which means the Skrull Rhodes was a bad person.

Rhodey bled red blood in the battle of Endgame. He had an Avengers combound crushed onto him and others. He sustained injuries. But he still attended Tony's funeral.
Most likely, like any normal human, he went for routine hospital visitations to check on his health since he still has spinal injuries from Civil War.
This was post Endgame of course and was probably when Raava abducted him; while he was sedated in the hospital.
This then gives Raava +2 years to be Rhodey and Rhodey +2 years to be in stasis in the Russian bunker at New Skrullos, thus getting leg atrophy when he was awakened.

If Rhodey is still paralyzed going into Brave New World and the Armor Wars, that's a bit of a letdown. I really thought Marvel would just take the safest bet and say Rhodey got replaced in Falcon & Winter Solider to avoid spitting on his character. Now Rhodey presumably has no idea that the Sokovia accords have been repealed, Thanos' strikes against Earth and Tony's death. Rava has to be the greatest Skrull actor of all time for making those tears look so convicting. A similar thing about Everett Ross regarding if he's still going to be close with Wakanda, we still don't know if it was really him or a Skrull when Val said that she wanted Wakanda's vibrainium resources.
The only powers I could think of that they didn’t have on there are Doctor Strange Spider-Man & Scarlet witch and most importantly not the powers of Howard the duck!!!
