Microcenter has the Gigabyte 7900xtx for $800......That's a deal and better if you overclock it a bit. But maybe wait to see what the 5070/5080/5090 can do thou. By then, might as well wait for the 8900 xtx.
RTX 4090 isn't solely for gaming. It might not be worth paying $800 more for this purpose. But for productivity, there are sides that are much better than AMD and definitely worth that difference. No, not just a bunch of games that have Ray Tracing still not worth $800, imo. Plus, not all Ray Tracing titles are similar to Nvidia ones.
Why do you need 60+ frames in story telling games and who plays competitive games will never play on max settings so xtx is better as per price to performance.
had 1060, 2060, 3070, 3070ti, 4070ti, after 3 years i realised im not even using dlss cause i hate the downscaling and raytracing is not playable. so i went with a 7900xtx and holy shit... for this money..
As long you aren't activating RT and playing without that, the 7900xtx is a great card. But with RT. It's a big difference. Then NVIDIA cards have a clear advantage.
Its a poor investment imo. Higher temps, worse memory usage, higher wattage and lower frames paired with a bad upscaler and horrible RT implementation. Long term its a poor choice. Rather save for a 4090
a more than decent performance for the RX 7900 XTX but with the RTX 4080 super at the same price I think this graphics card makes little sense, now it will age quite well due to the 24gb of Vram. the best quality price of AMD is the RX 7800 xt and/or the RX 7900 GRE, very good performance for what they cost.
It's a 75% increase you can find them for 1600 to 1700 right now. So 75% increase at most. 100% would be 2k also. Not 200% Also there were much larger differences then 20% some of them had 50 to 60% gains. Especially with ray tracing. Development are now putting it in without options like the new wukong is going to utilize nvidia tech to the fullest. Same goes for the new star wars game on the 30th. It's just how it is. Enjoy the decline of amd lol. Not our fault or there's devs want to utilize the most advanced new technology for there games to be pushed to the limits. So you will see it happen more and more. They are even utilizing rays in game without settings yoy can reduce due to the algorithms put in place. So yeah gonna be a tough time for amd. Its pretty crazy when a 4070 ti super is beating a 7900xtx in wukong, alan wake, the nee star wars game it will happen and more. The 6 new releases are all going to be nvidia focused. 😊
@@reviewforthetube6485 I agree with you, and I still believe the RTX 4090 stands out, but not because of ray tracing. Full ray tracing isn't a priority yet, and in most games with ray tracing, AMD's performance isn't bad. NVIDIA crushes AMD in titles with full implementation or path tracing. The problem is that we won’t see the RTX 4090 being future-proof for upcoming games that focus on path tracing. By the time those titles are released, the RTX 5090 will have already taken its place, much like how the RTX 3090 struggled with Cyberpunk 2077’s Path Tracing. Despite being a high-end card that outperformed the 6900 XT, especially in ray tracing, the RTX 3090 was quickly forgotten. NVIDIA continues to push the limits, but instead of making these features more accessible, they’ve made it harder to achieve playable performance, even with top-tier cards like the RTX 4090. DLSS and frame generation become necessities. Take 'Black Myth: Wukong' for example-it brings the RTX 4090 down to 22 fps. While that's better than AMD's 4-5 fps, it's still far from a good experience. Current-gen GPUs simply aren’t ready for full ray tracing or path tracing, and the RTX 4090 will share the same fate. It’s a short-lived advantage with only a handful of path-traced games, and that’s unlikely to change.
All that performance means nothing when you see AMD’s excuse of an upscaler. Cried tears of blood when i saw max FSR. Rather would go broke with a 4090. At least you get better side features like DLSS 3, better frame gen, RTX Remix, actual RT and PT implementation. Was actually considering a switch till i remembered all that
that's a gaslighting ass statement if I've ever seen one. FSR is really freaking legit right now, ur either ignorant or just being flat out dishonest af. It may not be a 100% match to dlss 3 but i doubt the average person is gonna tell the difference. "U cried tears of blood" lol what a theatrical basehead.
Ofc the 4090 wins but it’s only by 10-20 frames. For an extra $800-1000 I can definitely say for me, it’s not worth the money. I don’t really care about RT and you can buy a 7900 xtx and 7800x3d for about the same price as the 4090 itself. For my 1440p 144hz monitor I haven’t had a lot of games that don’t max it out with ultra settings.
Tbh idk why they show games not many play. People don’t spend thousands to play red dead they do it to play 4k and see a head 200m away on cod put up red dead because it’s hard to get good fps but show us tarkov, warzone and r6 maybe Valorant or over watch

With too many incidents of burnt power connector the 4090 is a hard pass even if I can afford 10 of them. There's this fear of me that it might burn my house if left for a while.

The 980ti smacks the Fury X a bit harder at 1080p than the 3090ti does to the 6950xt at 4k. Remember, back in 2015, 1080p monitors had just become mainstream, 2560x1440 was very expensive, and a TN panel 60hz 4k monitor was crude and expensive. if you really wanna do RT with AMD then it's possible. if AFMF2 isn't delivering a better performance, then I'd say get a lossless scaling app and choose x3 or x4 mode for frame gen, and you're good to go.
don't buy the 7900xtx or any GPU at all and keep another 1000$ in your pocket. With this logic people would only buy food to survive and nothing else and everyone would be rich. But what is the point of being rich if you won't spent it ony anything?
We only parise amd on social media for their good gpu with good price but while buying gpu we choose nvidia only 😂 that's why even after many good gpu's amd not able to conquer gpu market
Its crazy isnt it? Their cpu could go toe to toe with an i9 14900k/s in gaming at 6000mhz but their card saw an almost 2x loss in frames with Alan Wake alone and a 100% decrease in cyberpunk. And higher temps and poorer memory usage along with bad upscaling. Its clear GPU’s are not their strength. Their CPU’s are great at 6000mhz but they also start to show their weakness at anything higher and thats where intel reminds people why theyre still at number 1.

The 7900 XTX is too expensive for what it offers. Comparing your results (Jan 2, 2024) to Steve (Gamers Nexus) some of your results are slightly on par, slightly higher, and some just way out in left field. Did you double check everything?

I quite like the idea of price to performance ratio but then you would lose access to green features as I used those a lot. AMD is indeed never missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity. 🤷🏻♀️
Buyer's guide: If your budget is less than $600 go AMD. If it's more than $600 go Nvidia. Anything weaker than an RTX 4070 super is just not worth it from Nvidia (4060 yuck) and anything better than a 7900 GRE from AMD is just not worth it. At that price point the extra features from NVIDIA are just worth paying extra for.

Sum up, if you play multiplayer and pvp focused games like (call of duty, csgo, rust, Tarkov, battlefield etc,)get a 7900 xtx if you play single story games like (cyber punk, last of us, Alan wake, avatar, etc) get a 4090, I have both and the 4090 really does shine when your just trying to get THE most realistic and mouth dropping single player immersion. And when playing basic pvp games with friend, 7900 xtx absolutely does the job giving a smooth 4k gameplay on basically every pvp game
Pretty close in RDR 2 and Hogwarts!
Microcenter has the Gigabyte 7900xtx for $800......That's a deal and better if you overclock it a bit.
But maybe wait to see what the 5070/5080/5090 can do thou. By then, might as well wait for the 8900 xtx.
Oh, unless u want to buy new power cables melting every week with rtx 4090 and double the price of rx 7900 xtx no thank u stick with the rx 7900xtx
I like Nvidia but i would go for rx 7900xtx any time of the day all the time it's better value for money
4080 super or 7900xtx? Which one would you guys say is the better buy
The RX Is Budget Friendly Still Like Not 2000$

more than 2x the price of 7900xtx rn, 4090 prices are crazy nowadays!
These graphics cards are like phones , always another more expensive one on the way, why bother anymore
As long you aren't activating RT and playing without that, the 7900xtx is a great card. But with RT. It's a big difference. Then NVIDIA cards have a clear advantage.
With how electricity is so expensive where I live, the wattage on the XTX is gonna cost me more in the long term
Its a poor investment imo. Higher temps, worse memory usage, higher wattage and lower frames paired with a bad upscaler and horrible RT implementation. Long term its a poor choice. Rather save for a 4090
Comparison Rtx 4090 vs rx 7900 xtx is like rx 5700 xt vs rtx 2080ti in 2018

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 is a BEEEEEAST! 🤘🏻💪🏻
a more than decent performance for the RX 7900 XTX but with the RTX 4080 super at the same price I think this graphics card makes little sense, now it will age quite well due to the 24gb of Vram. the best quality price of AMD is the RX 7800 xt and/or the RX 7900 GRE, very good performance for what they cost.
Same power draw but 4090 gives 20-40+ more fps.
200% price for 25%-30% improve😂
Then check cyberpunk RT+DLSS 138 FPS RT+FSR 70 FPS 😂😂
7900 XTX 6150 Shaders
RTX 4090 16400 Shaders
Is that enough 😂😂
It's a 75% increase you can find them for 1600 to 1700 right now. So 75% increase at most. 100% would be 2k also. Not 200%
Also there were much larger differences then 20% some of them had 50 to 60% gains.
@@Rsty7571000€ vs 2000€
@@Rsty757because 4090 uses frame gen, without frame gen 4090 isn't that capable of producing those FPS. so it's RT+DLSS+FG.

Can't buy but watching 😂❤🎉

With too many incidents of burnt power connector the 4090 is a hard pass even if I can afford 10 of them. There's this fear of me that it might burn my house if left for a while.
A kidney or 2 kidneys, pass. I'll get the 4070 Ti SUPER/7900 XT for maximum FPS/dollar at the highest price.

@@juanme555 You would have had to have been there to see it. I've never heard anyone ever give Fiji any recognition because these cards were DOA. Vega had a better launch than Fiji did.
These Fiji cards would only show their true power at 4k, but they were hobbled by their 4GB frame buffer. The 980ti tore the Fury X apart at 1080p, and the 980ti beat the Fury X handily at 1440p.

The 7900 XTX is too expensive for what it offers. At this price the 4080 super is a better deal (same price and better feature set, less power required, almost the same raster performance with much better RT performance).
