1985 - My very First Synth coupled with a Korg MS10 for right hand solos....the Juno 106 introduced me to the fantastic world of Roland Synths...and I still with Roland since...
I just picked up one of these a few weeks ago--a co-worker literally GAVE it to me. It didn't have a power cord, and he didn't want it. (He had gotten it free from his church.) I used the cord from my Korg DW-8000, and it powered right up! It is, without a doubt, the most ridiculously easy synth to program. It sounds VERY similar to the Korg Poly-800 (but NOT the DW-8000, which is completely different), but because the controls are on the panel itself, I was able to reproduce some classic sounds I used to get from my old Poly-800 in mere seconds.
2 of my favorite tv composers, Shukey Levvie and bob singleton, used the juno106 for the music of Saturday Supercade and barney and the backyard gang, respectively. the former used the funny cat patch as a whacky brass sound for the donkey kong and pitfall cartoon segments, while the ladder used the preset Donnald pluck as a stacado banjo sound in 2 episodes.
8:45 to me is were the magic happens.. I love those airy atmospheric chords.. What a way to end the video! BTW..MJ is what I get from the progression at the end.
A very good synth to learn how use a synth. I have the Korg Kronos and really couldn't make heads or tails on how make those cool sounds. So, I went back and purchased one of these older synths and the most basic elements that you need to make all those cool sounds are right there right in front of you. There are no unnecessary knobs and buttons. You just experiment and learn what knob/slider does what. With that I've found I can manipulate the Kronos much easier now albeit you have to go in a dig onto the screen and find what you're looking in order to get the sound you want. If you go out and buy (3K or more) the latest Roland/Yamaha/whatever there are knob/buttons/sliders everywhere. A beginner in synth playing like me will never get off the ground. This is a great sounding synth and a good synth to start learning on.
Grazie. Molto bravo! CIAO!
Absolutely love your videos! So informative and straight to the point. Keep them coming. Only friendly request is if you could post the settings for each patch that’d be amazing! Thanks for everything! :)
I always thought it was almost like having six ARP Axxe engines in one chassis. So many awesome features - but the dealbreaker for me was always the absence of an option to create a tuned fifth in monophonic mode.
Use the main start noise, max the resonance, add good distortion, (Boss MT-2 pedal if you have it) max the noise and you have daft punks Rollin and scratchin in a nutshell. There's other details but that's the jist.
Love your videos mate. I have a suggestion for you guys. Get a black table cloth with Doctor Mix logo screen printed so you can place it under your synth! Would look cool and personal. ;)
amazing video, love to see the mutual passion. only at 9 12 when you started to play human nature by michael jackson the sound seemed to change to more resonance or more filter and it seemed like you didnt change a thing, how is this possible?
Made the same face as you when you turned on the chorus. THAT’S the sound I love with the Junos. That chorus just makes it sound enormous!
Gabrielle de Bourg that sound just made me weak. When you kick in that Juno chorus, it just hits me so good
@Chris Greene ok now thats ultimate fatness
damn, that pad sound came ridiculously effortless, and it was just beautiful

I just bought a Juno 106 and I’ve played many many boards and I can say the Juno 106 is truly my favorite!!
The lush pad sound alone is a great reason to want Juno-106. It sounds so good!
Came for the Juno...
Stayed for Dr Mix!
The Human Nature sounds better with you cause you're a great man and great musician, with a lot of sensibility. Your videos are awesome !
Picking up a Juno 106 this weekend!
All synths are amazing. The vintages have a special place in my memories...
You started by saying, "JUNO what I'm gonna do today?" lul
Haha yup
Man, nothing beats the pad sounds of a Juno.
Did anyone ever call you "Mr. Mix," and then you had to tell them, listen, I didn't get my PHD in mixing to be called mister.
Hahahahahha!!!!!!
That's so funny.
I just love how enthousiastic you are with the hardware ...as I am
Of all my synths, the Juno 106 is my favorite and most used.

With a 106 you can't do all but many of the best 80's sounds are there,
And it's a tank.

more stuffs like this please, would like to hear one with prophet 5

This costs a small fortune unfortunately, which synthesisers would you recommend for beginners?
The pad was Human Nature by Michael Jackson. Nice video!
The question is, Lawrence, could you have figured that out without him whistling the melody?
thanks. :)
That's Herbie Hancock-cantaloupe islad ;)

Last pad sound is Human Nature by Michael Jackson :D
Wonderful sounds - thank you!
A video in your series of the Juno 106... you answered my prayers!
Love your 106 videos!
First bass sound we meet in most of new house tracks, and also second stacato bass sound from 80's stays to eternity...!
Thank you very much! Now I can reproduce them on mine💖
Another great video. Love this Pad
love this video! very easy to follow your steps. what a smooth Human Nature pad sound at the end!
Those pads ❤️
Weltklasse Synthie ☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻😎
I just sold mine :-_( loved it, but wasn't using it all that much,. I especially love the sub-bass it creates; it's making a comeback with Basshouse.
Absolutely love your videos! So informative and straight to the point. Keep them coming. Only friendly request is if you could post the settings for each patch that’d be amazing! Thanks for everything! :)
Definitely MJ's Human Nature at the end. Such an amazing song.
Whistling is cheating. straight to the naughty step. ha ha Loved the pad well done. moog. Nellie the elephant, have I won?.
Mesmerizing Sound

Oh yes... i stay inspired ! Lovely!
Used a 106 on a recording once. Loved it.
Great video as always 👍 I like your satisfaction when you play the instruments 😂 Don't stop

*slaps hood of Roland Juno* "This bad boy can fit so much *chorus* in it"
Listening to the custom made bass notes with my SVS PB-2000 playing was very nice! Thanks :D
Very cool video (as usual ; )) thanks so much for sharing this, it makes me understand more about synths
Human nature by Michael Jackson! "Why...Why...Tell 'em that it's human nature" One of my favorites
Nice video ^^ keep up the good work :)
Dream synth
I pije your expression and ofc synth music
Why do I torture myself with these videos...
CutThroatNin3, look for the HR-16. It’s more economical if you can find one. I would myself - if I wasn’t satisfied with my JX-8p.
@@Shred_The_Weapon I have both :D
Every sound is interesting.
see and I belong to the Kool and the Gang now. lol i love this guy
I need a Juno 106 so badly

Hey, you never showed us the super-secret Chorus 3! Incomplete video! ;)
You gave it a little more Sub, but it got way more Dom!
Aw man, I was hoping to hear a quick track with the sounds you made!
I tried to follow along with my Alpha Juno 2, it more or less worked out. Though the chorus isn't exactly the same.
Existe-t-il sur le marché des répliques du juno à prix accessible ?
Could you make a comparison video of this and the arturia jun 6 V ?
6:44 - *Alert* The alarm clocks from the 90s lol
Roland Juno 106 is femous for its chorus.it is an iconic synthesizer.I love this review though.
Use the main start noise, max the resonance, add good distortion, (Boss MT-2 pedal if you have it) max the noise and you have daft punks Rollin and scratchin in a nutshell. There's other details but that's the jist.
Great video again !!
Why not a next one, only about the Basses we can get with the Juno 106, i'm sure this theme desevre his own video ;)
The song you mention is Human Nature by Michael Jackson but I thought MJ was singing freak of nature for the longest time. : )
That chorus is 90% of the 106 sound
Cantaloupe Island - Herbie Hancock, sound sick man!
you are amazing bro, you've got to produce some GoaTrance for us! =]]
Love your videos mate. I have a suggestion for you guys. Get a black table cloth with Doctor Mix logo screen printed so you can place it under your synth! Would look cool and personal. ;)
Hmmm interesting

It’s probably the delayed timing on the LFO 👍
I
Cantaloupe Island!!
Song at the beginning is cantaloup island.
He belongs to the Kool and Gang indeed.
Please review the infamous KAWAI K4!
Can you do a video on the Roland fa-06 or the fantom x8 or g8
That bass just crashed my head....!
00:51 “Polish Girl” by Neon Indian.
I mean the style’s the same but the chords are a little different, polish girl is Am-G-F-G-Em/A-F
@@acidwashmusic Yeah, I meant that the patch sounds like the stabs from “Polish Girl”.
"I belong to the kool and the gang" lol
I still have my SH 60! ;-)
When you are too young to know all these keyboards, still surprised
Still not the same synth K&TG used, though, xD. Great video!
what do you guys think about Roland Boutique JU-06??? sounds alike?
Haven’t tried it yet...
