    2 of my favorite tv composers, Shukey Levvie and bob singleton, used the juno106 for the music of Saturday Supercade and barney and the backyard gang, respectively. the former used the funny cat patch as a whacky brass sound for the donkey kong and pitfall cartoon segments, while the ladder used the preset Donnald pluck as a stacado banjo sound in 2 episodes.

    My first real synth I bought when I was in High School. Now I am almost 50 and I still own it. I had and still do have the big ones from that period. Roland Juno 106, Yamaha DX7 and a Korg M1.

    • @adamgreenhill110
      @adamgreenhill110 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Niiice. That's a real holy trinity of synths

    • @liammurphymusic9962
      @liammurphymusic9962 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Which one of those would you recommend for someone starting into synths. I absolutely love all three of them

    • @adamgreenhill110
      @adamgreenhill110 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@liammurphymusic9962 The DX7 and M1 are mostly "patch based" synths. You load pre-built sounds, and you can modulate/change their expression while playing. They both offer the biggest variety of sounds too. On some patches, the M1 has a "cheap keyboard" sound, but the DX7 sounds more impressive (just my opinion). DX7 has that classic 80's sound, M1 is great for house/dance etc.
      The Juno 106 is different. You can save a few patches, but it's less versatile in sounds. It's a "do it yourself" synth; you control every part of it. But that unique, spacey character might be what you're looking for.
      That's my input anyway, all three are great synths :)

    • @gobigparts
      @gobigparts 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@adamgreenhill110 Probalby the DX-7. The Korg has a cheap piano sound but it still sounds more realistic than the DX7. Nothing beats the electric piano sounds of the DX7. They all have their place. The juno is analog. Or just buy a newer keyboard that can do it all. Like a Yamah MODX

    I just picked up one of these a few weeks ago--a co-worker literally GAVE it to me. It didn't have a power cord, and he didn't want it. (He had gotten it free from his church.) I used the cord from my Korg DW-8000, and it powered right up! It is, without a doubt, the most ridiculously easy synth to program. It sounds VERY similar to the Korg Poly-800 (but NOT the DW-8000, which is completely different), but because the controls are on the panel itself, I was able to reproduce some classic sounds I used to get from my old Poly-800 in mere seconds.

    A very good synth to learn how use a synth. I have the Korg Kronos and really couldn't make heads or tails on how make those cool sounds. So, I went back and purchased one of these older synths and the most basic elements that you need to make all those cool sounds are right there right in front of you. There are no unnecessary knobs and buttons. You just experiment and learn what knob/slider does what. With that I've found I can manipulate the Kronos much easier now albeit you have to go in a dig onto the screen and find what you're looking in order to get the sound you want.
    If you go out and buy (3K or more) the latest Roland/Yamaha/whatever there are knob/buttons/sliders everywhere. A beginner in synth playing like me will never get off the ground.
    This is a great sounding synth and a good synth to start learning on.
