I love the compost tomatoes! I have Matt's Wild Cherry and Coyote (similar to Matt's, but yellow) that reseed themselves all over my garden every year, and they cross with everything. I have pink ones, black/yellow ones, plum shaped yellow ones. But, they grow with no attention from me, and in a very hot, very dry area, if it wants to grow and produce food, I'll let it grow all it wants.

Thanks Gary. Glad you had a good vacation. I left my garden for two weeks. Definitely in the same place as yours. Time to say goodbye to warm crops.

Ty - I’m starting to clear my raised beds out and amending the soil which I’ve been building for 3 years using your advice. My soil now is wicked good. I mulch them with EZ Straw. I love building the soil and planning for next year - I’m planning on adding 2 - 11:36 4’x8’ raised beds. Ty again - Steve zone 6 b

1st time growing ginger outside in 5B in 5 gallon pail. Grew GREAT! Started in my basement in march, harvested in September. Cooler in Upper Michigan so I gave them full sun.

Here by Arundel Mills, my eggplants, peppers, pumpkins and watermelons are still growing strong. Have all my lettuce beds going now and they are doing great.

Gary, have you ever tried to over-winter an avocado that sprouted in your compost? I'm in Fredericksburg, zone 7b now, and not only do I have an avocado that's about 7' tall next to the deck but now I have a papaya growing out in the yard somehow. It's right next to a tiny black raspberry that I planted this spring; must have put some compost on it that contained papaya seeds.
It's beautiful and healthy looking, so I hate to lose it. I just today put a tall fence around it and will try to insulate it like I've seen people do with bananas.
    What do you think?
