- This is the album that changed everything for me.
When 'Dookie' was released on Feb 1st, 1994, I was a lost kid looking for something to call my own. Green Day was the band I had been waiting for, and this album was my gateway into a world I didn't even know existed. It is because of this album that I first picked up a guitar, and wanted to start writing and playing music of my own.
In celebration of the 30th Anniversary, we decided to cover the whole record in its entirety.
We'll have a different vocalist on each track, all bringing their own spin to these incredible songs.
I must also acknowledge how special it is to have Dan Vapid join us on this cover. It's a full circle moment for me. The first time I was fortunate enough to see Green Day live was on Oct 25th, 1995 at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, during their Insomniac Tour.
Not knowing who the opening act was, we arrived early to make sure to catch this band I had never heard of - The Riverdales. I remember thinking, “these guys sound a lot like the Ramones”, and I was sold. I've been a huge fan of all of Dan Vapid’s bands ever since: Sludgeworth, The Mopes, The Riverdales, Screeching Weasel, The Methdones, his time spent in The Queers, and of course, Dan Vapid and The Cheats. It's truly an honour having him sing this classic Green Day song, 'Welcome To Paradise', on our 30 Years Of Dookie tribute!

Really happy you enjoyed it !
Can't stop jumpin' .. and i m at work 😂🍻👍
Hopefully the boss is a green day fan !!
@@MikeyAndHisUke I don't know but he didn't see me 😅(i m 58 yo lol)
Dan Vapid, a Legend.
Agreed !!
Leader of the Methadones and the Mopes, too
Wears a Green Day hat
He don't watch the news
...
Danny Vapid ain't a rabbit!!
🧡
All my homies love Dan Vapid!
We all love Vapid !!
I love Danny Vapid. Good choice for this one
Thank you ! 🙏
Danny Vapid is one of my fav singer/songwriters!!
💯agree !!
@@MikeyAndHisUke I met him years ago, after the Methadones opened for the Queers. I'd gotten their latest CD, and the song Break Out Of My Head brought tears to my eyes, because that's how I've felt just about every day since I had a brain injury in a mountain biking bail 25 years ago! I've also identified with a lot of songs from his various projects that deal with inner struggles we all face!!
I used to have that Riverdales shirt, ordered it through the Lookout mail order and it came the day of the Green Day show that the Riverdales opened. I wore it to that show proudly!!
That’s good timing ! That tour is how I first discovered The Riverdales. Been a fan ever since!
I would get so hype when the lookout catalog came every quarter or so. MTX, Weasel, Squirtgun!!!! Those were the best days!!!
I remember listening to this back in high school, almost 30 years ago. So awesome.
Same here! Brings me right back!
'92 Whiskey in Hollywood. Skate punks going to see one of my favorite bands Lagwagon and NoFX.. Opening band had a lime green jumpsuit wearing member. Thinking what the hell.. Green day was so energetic and enjoyable, it is ingrained into my memory for ever.
Just epic show for me.
Thank you Mikey and crew.. These always make me happy when posted... "No Cigar" is amazing.
That’s a great memory to have. I wish I could have caught them in 92 !!! Glad you’re diggin’ the vids 🙏
Dan Vapid! You all could have been performing 'Do Re Mi' and I would have still clicked on this with the quickness. Amazing song and even more amazing cover.
Hahah, very cool ! 🙏
I saw them on the dookie tour and then a year later for insomniac which btw had the riverdales opening for them so nice touch with the shirt dude
I thought that was a nice little touch as well. 😉. That 1995 tour is the first time I saw GD, and also my first exposure to The Riverdales. Been a fan ever since !!
JOEY BLESS DANNY VAPID!
Dan Vapid is my hero.
Everyone did great on this cover! Randys bass tone was perfect! Not too much, and not hidden. His fret work is so F'n clean!
Randy is the man !!
blue rocks!
Idk if its my feed or what but the first half sounded worbley..still sick...still Vapid!! Thanks Mikey
Outstanding work. Dan was a great choice for vocals on this one
Thank you. We were very happy when he picked this one!
Amen, Mikey
Brings me back to 6th Grade!!!!
Amazing work guys!!!
Awesome!!!
I even read the description....
What an amazing track, project and line-up
Brings me right back to highschool everytime I hear it. Really glad you liked it 🤙
What a surprise to see Dan Vapid on vocals! You guys absolutely crushed this one!!
He killed it for sure !!
Fucking brilliant as always. The further into this we get the more excited I get to see who we have for She and When I Come Around.
Ohhhhh, I’m excited to get those ones out too !!!!! 😉😉😉😉
VAPID!!! WOW!
Nice work!
🙏🙏🙏
My favourite Dookie track, awesome job everyone 🤘
Is it your favourite Kerplunk track as well ?
It keeps on getting better and better 🤘🤘
🙏🙏🙏🙏
really really great memories as a 47 year old dude back in the 90´s, really a great cover you all made !!!!
Thanks so much ! 🙏
Killed it ! 🔥🎶
That vox fit the song perfectly. One of the best ones on Dookie, by the way
Also one of the best songs on Kerplunk! Glad you liked it !
@@MikeyAndHisUkeAg that's right. I forgot that they kind of recycled that one
@@symptomsofdecay kept it the same for the most part. Just gave it that HUGE Dookie production !!!
@@MikeyAndHisUke True. Have to give Kerplunk a spin anytime soon, I think. Good record. My first record at all was that "smoothed out slappy hours" compilation, by the way.
I loved, Very Very hard,🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘. When i come around, please.
It will be coming around soon !!!!!
Awesome track, awesome playing. Mr. Vapid is simply amazing, just like all of you! 🖤🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
Much appreciated. Thanks for the kind words

@@MikeyAndHisUke I can't wait for She tbh!
YESSSSSS!!!!!!!! Bloody LOVE Dan Vapid! Welcome to Dystopia is the album equivalent that says "Hold my beer." to American Idiot. A brilliant statement on current affairs.
We love Vapid too !!!!!!
So good! Can't wait for the rest!
It’s coming soon !!
Don't stop with this brilliant cover versions. A lot of them saved me trough the terrible C. days. Thanks to all the incredible musicians. And btw Gonzo goes to Bitburg was my favorite one. Greatings from Germany
If you keep watching, we’ll keep putting em out. 🤙. Bonzo was one of my favs as well.
🔥🎶🔥🎶🔥🎶🔥
Damn thats some nice crunchy guitar tone! 👏👏👏
Thank you ! We worked hard to find the right sound. Glad you liked it.
Randy Bradbury playing a Green Day song that's awesome !
❤
I'm no musical connoisseur but I know what I like. The bass line , the harmonies. One of my favorite tracks from the album. Great job!!
Haha, very cool ! I’m glad you dig it. One of my favs as well
These keep getting better
Very kind of you to say
Chills.... The best song of the record.
Thanks so much. Is it your fav song from Kerplunk as well ?
@@MikeyAndHisUke Actually, for some reason (production ?), I wouldn't say it is. The contest would probably be between "One for the Razorbacks" or "Who Wrote Holden Caulfield?". Anyway, thanks again and looking forward to the rest of the album !
flawless victory..fatality 😅❤❤🤘🤘🤘
Great job!👍
Loved it!
Awsome! For the next one please bring @cjramone and @greggraffin on board!
Killer work like you do, So cool to see you handling the axe duties
Thanks very much !!
The Riverdales T-shirt at the end ❤
Glad you stuck around till the end for that. 😉
Best one yet! The instrumental intermission was great!
Thank you ! I love that section !
Another banger with a great lineup. You never disappoint!

Much appreciated!❤
Dan vapid singing Green day is like a teenage fever dream come true. Thanks for this - regardless of featured artists or cover choice, this series has been amazing.
Riverdales/Methadones - some of my favourite bands. Great vocals - great bass too, even got the tone right.
Thanks for the kind words. Some of my fav bands as well.
Wow - this is a great one. Nice cover of a classic.
🙏🙏
Oh putain yes! My weekly rendez-vous with u guys.
Patience was wearin' thin but damn it was worth the wait!
Merci beaucoup les mecs.
Awesome stuff.
Thanks for sticking with us !!!!!!
@@MikeyAndHisUke I've already told u. U guys are making such a good thing.
Merci à toi Mike. Merci à toi and to all the guys and gals doin'it with u.
Je vous aime. Merci.
been waiting for this one, the original is one of my favs, and this was a fantastic cover. WELL DONE and THANK YOU!
Glad you liked it, thank you.
Over 20 years ago, my first day at college after moving into the dorms, one of my roommates had set up a stereo system in the main room and just started blasting this song at max volume, it always takes me back to those days.
I also saw Green Day too for the first of 18 at the civic center in Philly on the insomniac tour. And course, got to see the Riverdales open. I think I was 12 years old.favorite band of all the time!!
We will be seeing Green Day, Rancid, Bad Religion and Social D this summer at various venues...See 'em all again while we still can.
Sounds like a good summer !
hot damn, Dan Vapid nails this shit. Is he doing any more of the record?
This is it for him on our Dookie tribute, but he has been on a few other covers on our series. We hope he’ll do some more down the road as well. Make sure to check out the others he did. You won’t be disappointed!
What an awesome way to start my day!
Sounds perfect!
I Love the Vocals.
Finley is as happy as I am with these videos.
Thanks Mikey!
Amazing job 👏! I Looove It.
Thanks so much !!!! Glad you liked it. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Another round of awesome covers. Keep up the good fight.
❤
I'm looking forward to next week to see who we get to pull off the lead and harmony parts for Pulling Teeth.
Keep up the good work, Mikey & Co.
It’s coming soon !!!!
@@MikeyAndHisUkeActually, no, it's not.
@@northofnashira2575 Soon-ish ?
@@MikeyAndHisUke Lol
@Mikey And His Uke, I’m lovin’ this tribute to Green Day’s “Dookie” album. Out of curiosity, are you going to do the hidden track at the end of the album?
You mean, the SECRET song??????? It wouldn’t be much of a secret if I revealed that information now would it ?!?!?!? 😉😉😉😉😉😉😉
@@MikeyAndHisUke, fair point. I will be watching anyway to find out. Lovin’ what you’ve been doing so far.
@@yackohoopy it’s coming, but don’t tell anyone…… shhhh…… hahah
You’re daughter is too cute!
I’m going to have to agree with you ❤
Great stuff!
I think this might be the best one. They've all been stellar, the rhythm section and you, Mike, have all been absolutely phenomenal and solid. It really come down to vocals, for me. I hope the mighty Milo doesn't hate me for this, but I think Vapid is my favorite so far. He just completely nailed it. As far as a tribute goes, and imitation being the sincerest form of flattery, Dan crushed it. If you close your eyes, you can almost convince your ears its BJ himself. Outstanding work, fellas. This whole thing has been a real treat. You're all pro's. Pros? Pro's? Pose, pose, why do you suppose that....
Man you and the selected teams are doing amazing I’m looking forward for o every video
I love this song but after listening to all the Dookie extra from the anniversary album or albums I kinda wish the versions of Christie roads or 409 in your coffee maker was the song that made the jump from Kerplunk to dookie.
The Dookie versions of those tracks are so huge !!! Love that we finally got them properly released. Did you hear the demo versions of the Dookie tracks that got released as well. Specifically Basket Case?
@@MikeyAndHisUke dude that basket case demo and the when I come around one are awesome I listened to them like 5 times in a row the first listen through. This was one of the best anniversary album sets ever.
Nice! We have finally arrived at my favourite album track (and also Green Day song).
What’s your SECOND favourite GD track ??
Tough questions, Mikey. I have many second favourites. I might go with She or Burnout.
@@DTC1138 both great choices. I’m excited to release She very soon !!!
@@MikeyAndHisUke OMG wait. Longview too! Haha
Excelente trabalho! 👏👏👏👏
Sorry buddy, I’m very late for my little support!
This is crazy AF I only turned up the sound throughout the song, I think the whole neighborhood heard you!
Damn, your guitar! Damn, Sir Bradbury’s bass! Damn, everything and everyone!
You really gave me a little paradise! So nice to hear Mr Vapid, so great.
I started (obviously) lost it at 2:17 and it only got worse! Thank you for that! 🤜💥🤛
Missed the Riverdales shirt first time through, me and my homies drove 10 hours to see their CD release party back in 2009 in Madison, WI!!!
Well, that was tippity top, wasn't it, pop pickers? Many thanks to everyone involved as usual.
Dan Vapid is a national treasure, everything that dude does is absolute GOLD. Also, what do you use for your recorded guitar tone...absolutely epic.
The credit goes to Drive Studios, where I record all my guitars. We worked very hard finding the right tones for this one.
This is class!!
Another awesome cover
Danny Vapid is the unsung hero of so many great records. The Horace Grant or Steve Kerr of pop punk. I discovered “Crash of the Moons” a couple of weeks ago. One of the most beautiful rock songs I’ve ever heard.
Honestly it’s one of my all time favorites
Loving these covers of the album that helped really get me into punk, any chance of doing Let's Go, Smash, or Punk in Drublic? All 3 also turn 30 this year
Ooof, that’s sounds like a LOT of work !!!!! Hahah. Great albums tho !! Maybe for the 40th, 50th and 60th anniversary’s! 😉
@@MikeyAndHisUke it would been, but I'm sure you could find 1000 musicians that would be up to playing Linoleum and Salvation, though I know it's time consuming to all the musicians and editors
So well done!!❤
Thank youuuu
After Jim and Randy, now we want a cover with Fletcher!!😂😂
Or Byron.. Amazing drummer
Love it!
So good!
i cant wait to other songs to hear dookie is a masterpiece my son and daughter name is billie joe,and haunshinka bcoz greenday is so especial to me gods fav band
Nice that guitar sound so nasty and tasty ❤
Thank you !!
Dang, I used to have that Lookout hoodie... =(
I always felt like Green Day should have released this song on one of their earlier albums before Dookie.
;)
These videos are so f***ing cool😅❤
Bro......fucking true ....., thanks ....
The link for Mikey and his uke says page does not exist.
Good catch! I’m sure they’ll want to fix it.
Thanks for letting me know. I believe the issue is resolved now????
Euh c'est pour quand le prochain morceau les mecs?
It's been 13 days since Welcome to Paradise.
Unless... U're ok Mike?
