- Hey everyone! In this video I walk you through the best new fishing products and tackle at the 2023 AFTA fishing trade show, which is the Australian equivalent of ICAST in the USA.
We had a chat with some well known faces within the fishing industry including Curtis Waterman, Justin Willmer, Bone Lim, Zane Levett, Mick Horn, Russell Babekuhl, and Chris Henry (Fezmond).

Thanks mate! Yes I am going to be trying them out in some upcoming videos so stay tuned to see how they go! It should definitely save time not having to re-tie knots every time you want to change your sinker size.

Couldn't get there so really appreciate your work Will. I tried to find on line the rapala gripper.prawn imitation lure. Found the imposter but not the gripper. have I got the name right. Thanks mate.

Hi mate, thanks for the comment! I’m glad the video was helpful for you. The Rapala soft plastics are awesome, they were definitely one of the most popular products at the show. I was very impressed!
Yes the imposter is the prawn, and the creeper is the curl tail/grub (which also has small legs which look great).
I’m not quite sure if they are available yet but they will be sometime within the next couple of months I believe. Hopefully you can get your hands on some and land some fish! Tight lines mate 😁👍
The prawn imitation is called The Imposter, the Curl tail grub is the Creeper. Hope you were able to find some to add to your tacklebox.

Hey Will, do you know any web urls that show the specs in the full range of Bone offshore travel rods? And/or are you aware of any stores that will get them soon?
Hey Dan, I’m not too sure sorry! I’ll ask them though and see if I can find out for you mate.
I think I heard that the Bone gear (lures and rods) that were released at AFTA will be available within the next couple of months.

Reel and rod companys should stick to that not trying to tack over the lure industry. Will end up like big business take over bunning and woolworths have done.
Hey mate, yeah I get what you mean. I noticed a lot of stalls at AFTA this year seemed to have a new product that was outside their usual range of products.
I think the appeal of making lures for the rod and reel companies is the fact that people lose them and constantly have to buy more, whereas rods and reels last a lot longer before someone has to buy a new one. It’s almost like a steady stream of income for them while they also keep focusing on the rods and reels, I’m not completely sure though.
Business is business I guess, it gets crazy sometimes hey! But it definitely doesn’t make it easy for the smaller lure focused brands when a big company starts competing with them 😅😅
