  • The Casio World Time is a great retro, 80's looking, cheap Casio with a lot of character.
    With an emphasis on world time zones and a neat little world map on the display.
    Casio A500WGA-9DF is the number for this specific model.
    There is also the Silver/steel option which is A500WEA-1EF
    (There is also some very similar models with a different colour bezel too, with slightly diff product codes.)
    Also seen in this video is the A168WEM-1EF, silver, with the negative LCD.
    Hipsters, can you stop wearing this watch please, its for true Casio fans only! XD.

    I live in China, my brother in the U.S, parents in Greece and close friends in Sweden and U.K. I love wearing this watch during my days off, as it reminds me when it's most convenient to get in touch. That, and I love the old-school look :)

    I was born in 1965 and therefore a child of the 1970s, the decade when digital watches landed on Earth. Like most other kids back then, I was bedazzled by these space age marvels and that wonderment has stayed with me. I collect and wear the vintage style Casio digital watches and this one is up there with the best of them. I have absolutely no interest in smart watches, they just leave me cold. for me, these Casio digital watches are still futuristic and cooler than a penguin's birthday party.

    Nice review of a fine looking watch. I have the excellent A-168 and thought the A500 was quite large, but that's not much the case - your comparison was very useful. The gold version seems quite more dressy than the silver watches if i may say. Thanks for the video.

    Awesome review! My new job has me traveling a lot but I don't get paid well enough to get a traveler's GMT 😆 Do I wish the backlight was a little stronger? Sure. Do I wish it didn't tug on my arm hairs? Of course. But this watch makes it super easy to change time zones and can be seen on a dark plane, which will more than do for now.

    Gold watches can be very easily tacky and nasty..this ironically is that..BUT for some reason it works in its favour. It's so silly it becomes cool and likeable I was going to get the stainless version but then fell in love with the gold ..it's just got something about it in gold that is just hilarious and legendary.
    These in gold are also becoming hard to come by in the UK I had to import for a total of £52..but you know what ..so worth it

    • @Ocelopilli
      @Ocelopilli 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As an American it was the opposite I got the gold cheaper than I did the silver. The silver coming from the Uk cost me more because of the shipping, but it was worth it and now I have both

    I have the silver variant you mentioned here. I don't wear it often because it just feels small on my already-small 6.5" wrist. It looks very handsome although the stock metal bracelet looks a little too retro for me. It's a good casual watch, almost looks dressy and probably won't look out of place with a suit. Maybe I should give it more love.

    Can you please explain to me why you chose the dull monochrome version of this beatiful Casio “real” watch rather than the stunning black bordered gold tinted screen with the exquisite emerald green world map (where the time zones are highlighted in black,therefore being far more easier to track) l am a Casio collector and as l already own about 5 different iterations of the AE-1200 (the Casio Royale) which also has a monochrome screen you would think you would choose the different coloured version l don’t see the attraction of the monochrome A500’s and why the A500’s have been largely ignored by the watch reviewers on TH-cam in favour of the seemingly orgasmic appeal of the AE-1200’s baffles me the A500’s are the real vintage model of the original 1980’s Casio world time watch except that original version was on black resin other than that it virtually unchanged except that the A500’s have gold and steel finishes the original also had coloured atlases by the way it is not just chrome plated casios that easily scratch- the biggest scratch magnet you can find are rolex’sthey use there own brand of stainless steel rather than 316L surgical steel like every other watches use it is a softer less durable steel l can refer you to Blue fish’s Guy for his review of his Rolex submariner l think you would find that review enlightening .My doctor who is a desk diving couch potato has one and his Rolex looks like it’s been thru a washing machine and climbed mt Everest on its own all polished surfaces scratch not just casio’s anyway l still don’t see the attraction of a gold watch with a black and white screen-RG,Sydney,Aus.

    • @sped6954
      @sped6954 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not into gold or gold tones either. I've always been this way too. For some reason I've always equated gold to tacky.
      I have the silver version of this watch with the blue world map, but I removed its original band, and replaced it with a SS band from a Casio AE1200. It fits perfectly between the lugs, but once you get into the main part of the band after the taper is finished, the band is still a few mm wider than the original one. All the cute effect is gone now. It still wears kinda small and it's just a touch heavier, but it looks so much better with a wider and thicker band that doesn't look like plastic.
      I might have to look into one of the variants of the A168. For some reason, I always thought the A168 was a really small watch, but now seeing it next to the G-Shock, it actually looks pretty decently sized.
      Now a question regarding the A168...
      What is the equivalently sized Casio with EL backlighting, like the F105 is to the F91?
