Thanks for the up load my dad rented this video in 1986 when we got ur 1st VCR. Got me into bass fishing at 10 years old. Man this took me back in time
Wonderful ! Most of it still makes total sense today. I beleive this video was also published under the title 'Bass fishing top to bottom with Rick Clunn' 1984.
Slack line snap hookset? I wonder if he still applies that technique today? 😂 Still an awesome video. He helped develop everything we do now too, and he's evolved with the sport amazingly against all of these young gunslingers? Awesome!
In 50 years of trout fishing here in Montana, the one thing I have always found relevant to a good day of catching trout was thinking like a trout. I have had to learn every aspect of the trout's day to ever begin to figure out where it wants to be and for what reason it wants to be there.
Trout fishing streams is night and day different from fishing big lakes for bass. The strike zone for trout is much smaller due to the shallow, running water they're in- you pretty much have to drop it right in the hole they're sitting in. Bass fishing is a bit different in that you can call fish from a much further distance- usually you don't have to put it right on their nose. Sometimes you do- the strike zone can get tiny- but on most days it's larger than the strike zone for a trout.
@@paulmajor5585 A dream in your eyes. I chased trout for 50 years, killing damn near every one of them until I began learning about conservation. That was about the time I found out that small mouth bass lived in the Musselshell River. Since then I haven't sought a trout.

🤔If I was to guess the year 83-84 judging by his pants, break dancing time, not that I’m saying Ricks a break dancer 😂 but I was 13-14 ,83-84 it about the time I really feel in love with fishing ❤️👍

Rick still uses monofilament to this day. i spent years wasting money on fluorocarbon because it's "invisible" underwater.... are you telling me that fish won't see a 20lb test fluoro line when they are inches away from it and looking at what you are throwing to them? even if the water is super clear i'd rather use 4lb mono because it will most likely be less visible than the heavy fluoro guys are throwing because it's "invisible under water". All marketing, just like wasting money on 65 lb braid for pulling a 5lb bass out of heavy cover. It's all big business.
Who ever is uploading these, your doing the lords work son lol

Hands down best channel on TH-cam!! Thank you for uploading everything on this channel
Clunn's giant hat is dope. They don't make em like they used to.
No they don't. Lol
Old school billboard trucker hats 😂
Love this video! Pretty rare to see Clunn sitting while fishing. (Of course, this is not a tournament)
Judging by the boat and jeep, either 1984 or 1985. Love watching these vids! Keep em coming!
Originally Lews Speed spool reels made by SHIMANO. Still have one. Still use it.
Ryobi made the first Lews speed spools and also manufactured the first Shimanos. Shimano later acquired Ryobi fishing in the 80s.

Such a smart man

Rick Clunn is probably the all time best tournament angler ever....
@8:40 hahaha great!
That first buzzbait bass is a mule. Love these older videos.
13:00 Gordon, probably the main reason is, Clunn is in the front of the boat getting first crack at all the spots/bass.
Sometimes that just sets up the fish for the guy in the back

Miss the old pistol grip rods.
Looks like a speed stick
St croix is selling a pistol grip. 🔫
14:04 anyone know what lure that is? Looks like an old school chatterbait, very cool!

I remember waching this video in the mid 80s
And where did he find that huge hat 🤨
Look at those ramps
This appears to be made from the same stock of footage as "Bass Fishing from Top to Bottom".
How do u only have 12k subs?!?!

I don't see a come back for the pistol grip though
For some techniques they were very comfortable

Great fisherman, being a marine biologist didn’t hurt either.
Yes, great fisherman, but as far as a marine biologist, he was not. You are thinking of Roland Martin, who, in college majored in biology.
