- An excerpt from an old documentary about 23Envelope, the design team of Vaughn Oliver and Nigel Grierson. I have a very bad copy of this entire documentary that is missing in spots. I'll post more if i can!

It 's the first time I see one of the most important men who supported the underground music circuit.
Ivo is a very shy man, careful to reach the introspection and thesubstance.
I admire him and his glorious 4AD, from its early 80's dawn.
I went to junior school with Ivo & used to have lunch at his house, we'd all pile into the back of an old land rover I remember the driveway with enormous great danes, he had about 7 older brothers & sisters & his exotic italian mother would feed us warm brown bread dough that was proving , or spaghetti with a bottle of tomato sauce , then we'd pinch big fat gooseberries from the garden or jump off the haystack into what must have been a silage pit. Happy days , gone forever .

@@Elwood_McCable Can I ask you what 'exotic' actually mean? A little vague I must say but if you dare to read the definition of exotic you'll find it might not apply to Italians since Italy is just down the road (2 hours flight). Anyway the concept of distance is very subjective and certainly from an imperialistic point of view, Germany or the Netherlands by the same token might be considered exotic too...perhaps this is the reason Italians were called 'WOGS'. It is xenophobic at its best. But if you can't see that, I have nothing left to say. Just good luck to you luv...
Gods, not just a snob, but an academic one at that. Smacks of classism. Actual life experience is subjective. No one cares if your dictionary spontaneously ignites at the first hint of public self expression. Can we get back to the amazing insights of Ivo and his thoughts on the great Vaughan Oliver?
I've got the "Song to the Siren" and "It'll End in Tears" sleeves framed on my wall. Some of the finest music, artwork. Timeless. Every once in a while I browse for old This Mortal Coil-related interviews, etc...usually to no avail. Today I got lucky! Thanks for posting this 23 Envelope vid. I've never seen it. What's it taken from?

I recommend "Facing The Other Way" by Martin Aston, which is about 4AD. I'm not normally a fan of books about musicians etc, but it's actually very good. Ivo's living in the US, having had a few mental problems and selling his share in the company. It sounds like he's OK these days, but keeping himself to himself.

I just completely love TMC, 4ad, 23 envelope and ivo... i have never seen this man in video before, he's just a phantom, there are no info about what is doing now over the internet....please post more if you can..i want to hear something more about citroen pallas, the model...i've spent hours and hours just listening to those music watching the sleeves with the shoots of her...hunting!!!!!! thank you!!

howdy. i was wondering you remember where you got the 4AD documentary you have up. i’m just bummed bc it’s like still technically up but i can’t see it due to some one or another youtube rules being broken. any info would help . i posted on this one jusr bc i couldn’t on the actual video. cheers
