  • The Model Y is Tesla's answer to the smaller size EV SUV. This vehicle competes direstly with the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Audi E-Tron and Chevrolet Bolt EUV. This Model Y Performance is powered by (2) electric motors to produce 470HP & mated to a direct-drive transmission. On the outside you will find traditional Tesla sesign, LED lighting, 21in wheel, large brake calipers and hatchback design. On the inside you will be greeted to a minimalistic interior with a massive central infotainment system. Is the 2021 Tesla Model Y a BETTER performance SUV than a Mustang Mach-E GT?

My mom bought one after driving my Model 3, she absolutely loves it. Her good friend also just bought one after driving hers and there other friend just ordered one as well. These things sell themselves, no need for advertising, there is like a 8 month wait on these if you ordered today, thats how large demand it. It does so many things well, the ultimate daily driver imo, not to mention the lack of maintenance costs and gas savings over the lifetime of the car. I've had my model 3 for 3 years now, I drive 100 miles or so a day for work, only thing I've done is change the tires once, autopilot for long drives is a game changer and it still drives like the day I drove it off the Tesla lot.

How is that a $75k car? I just built a fully loaded Model Y Performance on the Tesla website and it is only $74k. Does this one even have full self driving? That is a $10k option that no one should ever actually pay for especially on a used Tesla.

Rivian and Lucid motors are doing the same thing. Direct sales.
However, in some States the law prohibits direct sales because it hurts the dealerships since they can't make money on the transaction.
I think Ford eventually is going to fight to be able to sell directly to the consumer. That will help Ford to be even more competitive against those who have the upper hand by cutting out the middle man.

So as a Tesla model y owner with acceleration boost upgrade. It makes a great daily driver. Probably the best, because it is great at merging in with traffic and getting around slower cars. Also driving back and forth to work, I prefer serenity. Now as a week toy, not as good, because you missed the noise and drama. I couldn’t afford a weekend toy anyway. No oil changes or scheduled maintenance, so huge savings in that department. I charge at home. With my previous vehicle, fillip every two days, $45, now with charging from home, $12 dollars ever two day. The key is the ability to charge from home.

Like Apple, Tesla has this sort of annoying following that worships their CEO. I liked Apple but the fans of the brand were truly annoying and rather elitist. Straight talk, here. Apple Macs were good and iPods and usually of high quality but at some point, they fell behind Windows in terms of multitasking and such and Apple didn't clone and such. Apple lost market share. And in some aspects, the iPhone fell behind Android.
Tesla fans would do way better to say we make our type of cars and the competitors make cars that are quite good too, but we're more tech focused. Leave it at that. All of this "kills the competition" talk first of all is not true, there are competitive EVs coming out as EVs still go beyond just the tech aspects, and you can be competitive while acknowledging others do well also. That's my advice to Tesla fans. Just chill out some. Also Elon is not a God. He's a CEO. He's a good one. But like Steve Jobs, he's a charismatic CEO and a really rich man.

I have a Tesla Model 3 Performance. The only things that I wish were physical knobs are volume and climate control. BUT - I control the volume from the steering wheel physical control, and I also keep the temperature at 70 (but I use the seat heaters off and on in the winter). I know others have complained about the wipers but I find that the auto wipers work just fine on mine (and you can use one of the steering wheel stocks to turn them on quickly for a single wipe).

Interior doesn't look or feel like a $75K car because the Model Y is a $58K car. The Performance can be had for $62K. The only way you get to $75K is extras and the rip off $10K self driving pkg.
Point is, when you buy this, you can't compare interior luxury with another $65k+ luxury car because that car won't even begin to approach the performance of this. Just like a Charger Hellcat interior doesn't match its price point because you're strictly paying for performance.

I’m glad u finally reviewed a Tesla ! Couple of things I noticed however:
    - no mention of free software updates , which improve the car’s range, features, etc. over time/ownership
    - no mention of Tesla’s autopilot or full-self driving features
    - no mention of Tesla’s phone app functionality
    - no mention of Tesla’s supercharger network
The above points I mentioned are some of the main reasons why someone would choose a Tesla over a Mach-E. Overall , I liked ur review of the Model Y. Although u did seem pretty unimpressed lol might be cuz u are a car enthusiast n much rather drive ICE vehicles. No hate , just my ✌️ cents

@@pdboomin2 Is amazing how many people miss those points you mentioned. With ICE vehicles you didn't have to worry about where you were going to refuel because gas stations are every where but on an EV if you take 300+ miles often like I do, you have to take into consideration the charging Network. I've taken multiple 2,000+ mile trips and having a reliable charging Network is such a piece of mind. Pulling to a Supercharger at 3am on a 27+ hour trip knowing how many chargers are working and available even before you get to the Supercharger makes me feel great about the choice I made when deciding to buy my EV.
The charging Network, autopilot, OTAs, brand recognition, the direct sales model, Mobil Service, were some of the reasons I decided to purchase a Tesla over other brands. And I didn't even mentioned the vehicle specs.
I hope other EV manufactured invest in the charging networks for their customers. That will help get more EVs on the road and give a better experience to EV drivers regardless of the brand.

I appreciate the review. But I have to mention the following.
1.) The Tesla Model Y does not cost $75k. As I type this, the vehicle you are driving (as optioned) is available for $64k via Tesla. The dealership you are at is trying to sell it at $75k I suspect. Tesla sells directly to the consumer, no endless hours of price negotiating at a dealership.
2.) The Model Y Performance has an EPA rated 303 miles of range. With any vehicle, gas or electric, spirited driving will obviously bring that range down.
3.) Most don’t know that the reason the door handles are flush with the body is to maximize aerodynamics and drag coefficiency. Exposed handles can subtract ≈ 3% of range.
4.) The specific model you showcased has an integrated tow hitch behind the plastic cover. The Model Y can tow up to 3,500 lbs.
I have to agree with you about the fit and finish. At a $64k price point, everything about the vehicle should be flawless! It doesn’t even come with an automatic garage door opener! WTF!?
Design aesthetics is where things start to get subjective. Some motorists prefer a minimalistic approach and others prefer to feel like they are in a cockpit surrounded by a thousand buttons when in reality they will only be using seven of them.
I really enjoy your vehicle reviews! You really highlighted the performance features. Keep the videos coming!
