Excellent analysis. I agree on the majority of your points and the ratio issue of 9:16 in vertical orientation is a pain but the 4K is worth it- minor hassle.
Just wanted to leave a comment and say that this is the best Insta360 GO review/comparison video I've seen. Great footage examples and I really like how you talk about the different FOV. I bought 3S but returned it for GO3 after watching this video since I didn't realise the there was a difference in FOV. Also GO3 has longer battery life and FreeFrame is better on GO3.
Great review and I love your side by side comparisons, it really allows me to see the differences. Since I don't have either, I would choose the Go 3s 4k for the reasons you mentioned.
I try to do the side by side comparisons so you the viewers can see which one YOU like best. If you've never had the Go series, then yes, absolutely get the Go 3S as the 4K is worth it.
I had 360 go 2 and it stopped working after 2,5 years. Thanks for explaining that 360 go 3 S, you can not auto rotate. I do not know why they disable this. Now I want to buy a new camera and I think I will buy Insta 360 GO 3 only.
Thanks 4 the indepth video and sude by side videos. We are a power washing company. The video quality is not as important but the auto rotation is especially with employees
I'm watching on a 12.4inch tablet. I can't really tell that much difference between the Go3 and Go3s to be honest. Slightly better image quality and a bit better color science. I don't think I'll upgrade from Go 3. I'm might try watching again later on my 65 inch tv.
Yes in the shot with direct sunlight on my face, the Go 3S had some overexposure, good thing is Insta360 is really good about putting out firmware updates all the time to improve their cameras.
You'd probably need a much larger sensor resolution for auto-rotation in 4k with all the implications such as processing power, overheating and battery drain, so no surprise there. But I'm a snob too, the lack of 4k was always a no no for me. I really enjoyed the video, but how do you keep your weight under control? 🤣 That breakfast was 1800 calories, each munchkin is 90 and the sandwich 680. Sorry I'm food focused right now, just finished a 28 day water fast and lost 40 lbs, now I'm on carnivore diet.
Haha, the Bagel was for me, the 10 glazed munchkins were for my wife. Wow 40 lbs ? That's great, congratulations ! That's the exact amount I need to lose to be back to my fighting weight.
Can you please comment on following parameters on Insta 360 3S (1) Low Light Performance (2) Image Stabilisation: especially in low light (3) Battery Life at 4K 50 FPS (4) Any issue of heating up? Many thanks.
When tranfering 20min 4k vid. How about the battery consuming? Is that any significant drain? Means after tranfering , we need to recharge bfore use it again
I have no battery issues when transferring the video files, but I also plug it directly into my computer to offload files and while they are transferring, the USB-C is also charging the camera and pod.
The magnet on the Go 3S is definitely stronger than the GO 3, but for how fast you could go with it staying on I couldn't tell you. Haha, bondo check, in the old days we used a refrigerator magnet to check out a car.
Wonderful video, sir. Good choices of music as well. It made it a bit soothing while watching. I'm not sure what that even is, but that is the effect it had on me nonetheless.

It's crazy how powerful and small these cameras are getting now. 5 years ago no one would have thought you could get a 4k camera this small.
Exactly, just image what cameras will be capable of in the next 2 years.
This was helpful 🤙🏾. Your format of explanation/review was great
Excellent analysis. I agree on the majority of your points and the ratio issue of 9:16 in vertical orientation is a pain but the 4K is worth it- minor hassle.
Yes the 4K is really nice.
Great in-depth review, as always!
Thank you Patrick. Hope you and the family are doing well.

I bought those wind muffs after your other video and wow they work great.
Glad it helped, they work really good

I like the fact that it's so small and shoots 4k, but that 2.7k looks a bit better to me.
Yes I agree that there was some shots that looked "cleaner" in 2.7K
Thanks much for the FOV comparison, and for covering other areas as well. Great review! 🫡

I would love to see a low light test, like really test the limits. when they start to get grainy, preferrably indoor, almost no light.

@@clearwaterprowash Auto rotation was added in the latest firmware
So now Im really torn. Suggestion on which one to buy now as an outdoor contractor? @@WORTHITORNOT
I'm wondering how the 3S and Action 4 compare in low light. Very interested.
The Action 4 100% better in low light !

In some lighting situations the 3S color looked washed out compared to the Go 3.

Agree, those over exposed burned out spots are impossible to recover in post....

Not that I've been able to get to work.

Can you transfer files via a USB cable directly from the camera to your laptop without using the Action Pod or app?
You need to use the action pod and the USB-C cable to transfer to your laptop.

Do you think the magnet is strong enough to stay on the side of a truck? Here's another use for the magnets, you can check for bondo on a vehicle 😉
