As always - excellent information for those of us who have the GO3 & GO3s. I will be trying this myself this weekend with the great grandbaby [ 1 Y/O ] and the pendant. And as I have said before - have an awesome day.
great information, i have been using 360 cameras for around 5 years. now i have shifted to go3s for the first time. it is really a huge difference using 3s after 360 cameras a s now i have to think about camera placements whereas in case of 360 cams everything was possible in post production. another huge negative of 3s is it doesnot have horizon lock (in freeframe it does give 360deg support but cuts of field of view)
Most informative video I've seen on this topic so far. Well done and thanks bc I definitely learned a lot just now. I'll be changing how I use mine going forward.
I switch from the go 3 to the go 3S and i'm very happy with the upgraded quality of the video from the 3S The biggest downsize of the 3S for me are 2 things and there was no influencer ore insta360 talking about these things. 1) There is no reframing anymore in the app. (up/down left/right) 2) When you want 360 horizon lock you've got a very big crop. What i understand is that these 2 downsizes are in the 3S because we have now 4k and we use almost the whole sensor. Overall i'm happy with the 3S but still miss these 2 things.
I just happened to purchase a Go3 (after using the heck out of a Go2 for a few years) when it was on sale a few months ago, but then I realized why it was on sale... because the Go3s was coming out. 😡 I was so annoyed for awhile, even though I loved my Go3 because I could have just waited a month for the latest and greatest. However, I was relieved when I found out that the feature I use the most, the freeframe, has been neutered, and far less useful than before. When wearing the camera on the medallion, sometimes it could get turned sidewalks, titled upwards, etc. Being able to adjust the angle in the app corrects all of this. I rarely record in 4K anyhow, since it takes up so much memory, so simply adding that feature, while reducing others certainly does not appeal to me. Furthermore, given there is enough light, the freeframe horizon lock and stabilization from the app makes the videos look buttery smooth, almost on par with cameras with dedicated gimbals (Fimi Palm, DJI Pocket, etc.). For now, I'll stick with my Go3! Hopefully the Go4 will combine the best of both worlds.
Just me or standard better? 9.56 you can't make the foliage out on bush to left like in standard mode and seems as if it applies a blocker to the image when running to save space maybe? Reminds of ring doorbell cams data saver cutting out parts of the footage.
Yes, it needs maximum lighting even in the kitchen and rooms. Normal lighting won't work if you want to shoot creative videos. Videos are dark and noisy.
Thanks, found that very useful, although I'm still confused. When I want 16:9 format I can have 4k with a little bit of tilt fix or, using freeframe, something closer to 2k with great stabilisation and horizon lock?
Perfect video. I was just playing with my newly acquired Go 3s and was wondering about the difference. So if I am understanding the conclusion, unless there is a specific need, you suggest using the regular video mode?
I really wish you had shown it in horizontal and not vertical orientation... I wanted to see the difference in crop that happens when using free frame VS regular video, as i have heard that that is one of the major downsides to using Freeframe VS regular, it has to crop in on the sensor quite a lot. So you already cropping in to show the side by side comparison didnt show an important aspect (at least in my opinion... I do not have this camera but am considering buying it, but the crop of free frame has been a big concern, and i was hoping this would show case more RAW side by side comparison, without post process cropping in the edit)
I was very interested in this camera for out on the ebikes, but no SD card I never thought that was even a thing today not to have one! It's scored off the list! 4 to go haha! Go pro maxx 2 coming with 1/1.9 and DJI announced a 360 cam yesterday leaked pics online! They look huge though like the first go pro max 360 both same chunky wide design! Insta360 x4 is interesting but not worth getting now really 8 month's out X5 will be along very soon, might hold out for that for a 360 x5
Great video! Thank you

I agree. You would think that those 2 issues could be bypassed by dropping the resolution to 2.7K, but no!
What happens at lower resolution?
Superb detailed quality video. Thank you 🙏
Glad you liked it!
Awesome thanks. Great vid
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the info, very helpful ❤
Glad it was helpful!
Great comparison, thank you 😊👍🏻🍺

A very good video - thank you. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
You need to compare also in low light, for me video is lot better than freeframe in that case :)
Thx for you great video 🙏
May try to do that if I find time, but to be honest, the GO 3S is just not made for low light - the sensor is just too small.

Yes, exactly

Yes - FreeFrame should be the "last resort".

Interesting point - I will have to look into that.
good video
Thanks for the visit

Can you elaborate on what yo want to do? Are you looking for 2 full days of standard video, or a timelapse?
