    SSA-E is phenomenal, but not at $240, only when it’s on sale. And even then I don’t know if it’s still worth more than double the $80 for the MBT. They are both made of very high quality & robust S7 tool steel. Regardless, $80 for the MBT considering it’s a LaRue with its top tier quality has to be the best deal of any trigger on the market imo. You can’t go wrong either way. Both also have great customer service.

    Great comparison! I have a MBT-2S and am curious to try the SSA (their specs are similar on paper: 2.5 + 2 lbs). MBT has such a clean break and solid wall that I’m amazed that it’s less than $100! Love this trigger!

      I agree, Larue triggers are some of the best that I've ever felt. I like the SSA, it's great and still have it in one of my go-to guns, but I'd have zero regrets if it had an MBT or the straight now version instead. The only way that I'll ever get another Geissele (if curiosity gets the best of me) is on black friday when they are close to $150.

    Just picked up a SSA-E for $179 shipped today. Looking forward to it. My first Geissele trigger. My favorite I've been using has been the Hiperfire PDI ($128) triggers. Rise Armament makes some nice ones like the RA-535 ($135) and I have mil spec nickel boron trigger i polished that a friend gave me that I got to a nice single stage 3.5lb break.

    Was waiting on the Geissele Tricon to get back in stock and found this trigger. Decided to take the plunge once I saw what this trigger used to cost and the reviews. If this trigger is as good as everyone says, I won’t be paying $240 for a trigger again.

      Love it. Buy with confidence.
      I put the included heavy spring in mine. Feels slightly lighter than an SSA, which is fine with me.
      The factory spring just felt too light for a defensive rifle for me at least.

    I went into my gun store wanting to get the SSA-E because that’s what everyone recommended me. Guy behind the counter says, “sure, but close your eyes and dry fire both of these rifles” one of them had the MBT and the other had the SSA-E. I really was surprised that I liked the MBT better. It felt better. And in a turn of events, saved some money to buy other parts.

    I have these triggers...LaRue MBT-87 at 1.98 lbs avg/ ...CMC 2lb Straight Bow @ 1.23 lbs. and a Palmetto State Armory @ 2.48 lbs, and a DPMS @ 2.15 lbs...I like them all.They fit me. But all for different applications..However my favorite is the CMC in my 6.5 Grendel I built .
    And this may surprise some people...but my Franklin Arms Binary trigger is as smooth as ever.Its 2.48 lbs on semi and 1.11 lbs. on Binary and feels really good.I have a bunch of other triggers that I have just polished with a fine grit flapper wheel on my Dremel.. and it helped tremendously. No Grit and it reduce the pull pounds some too.But the main bragging point is that they real smooth and no gritty feeling.

      @@ConcealedSteel So are the Geissele's 3x better than the MBT?

    • @liamflanagan490
      @liamflanagan490 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@jkreviea The Geissele trigger isn't three times as good. I own the Larue MBT-2s, as well as the Geissele SSA-E. I also have a CMC two stage drop in trigger, which is a 1 pound take up, with a 3 pound break. They are all fantastic triggers. The Larue MBT-2s is the best for the money for sure, no doubt about it. The CMC 2 stage is in second place, solely because it's smoother than the MBT-2s, and has a shorter, faster reset with very minimal overtravel. The SSA-E is first place for me because it has a smoother, shorter take up, and a lighter, more crisp break with absolutely ZERO overtravel, and a shorter, more positive reset than both the CMC 2 stage, and the MBT-2s. If you go with any of the three, you'll be perfectly happy, they're all absolutely phenomenal triggers, but the SSA-E is my personal favorite. It simply lets me shoot a little bit faster, and a little bit more accurately, and it makes me happy. whatever trigger you have, it all comes down to training. If you suck at shooting a mil-spec trigger, you're going to suck at shooting a $240 super awesome trigger too. If you don't have the fundamentals down, don't bother upgrading your trigger, it wont make you any better of a shooter. Check out Milspec Mojo on youtube. Homie slays drills, and gets .10 splits on a milspec trigger. Upgrading to a nicer trigger will only enhance your capability so long as you have the fundamental skills down.

    I don’t entirely agree with this review. I have both the SDE and the MBT. In term of pre travel, the SDE is very smooth and definitively superior to MBT, which has a noticeable weird hump in the middle of pre travel. Otherwise, I do agree the difference in the break weight and feel is subjective. If you have the money, go with the Geissele’s. It’s overall better.
