- On our TH-cam premiere we review the Shalotek 365XXLC Sentinel with Macro size Flex frame. Their prebuilt package:

I compare the Shalotek directly to the X-Macro to see if it's worth the upgrade and Steve shows up to let us test it against an Icarus Precision lower on a P365XL upper with PMM comp.

One thing about Shalotek, they have one of the best customer service. Got that set up with an Icarus grip and Flex from shalotek
They really do. Totally worth the wait to buy from them
Just be prepared to wait. I ordered the Warden package which shows 5-6 weeks. I ordered mine in Jan 8 the day they announced and it is now March 26. I am patient, but impatient. I’m looking forward to getting it.

Thanks, just the perfect video to answer some questions I had. My EDC is a P365xl with a Wilson combat frame. Been trying to decide whether to swap out the barrel and slide, and a Shalotek XXLC is in the front of the pack. Thanks for the video.

Do you feel like the grip module is slippery also? Or does it offer you good traction?
Yes, but a couple strips of grip tape solved that problem for me. @@SmallArmsFirearms
@@SmallArmsFirearmsthe Icarus grip is not slippery, but the thumb ledge is slippery when I try to use it. But I don't use a thumb ledge anyway
@@tizben it is very slippery for me on their original XL size module. I hear the Macro size grip isn’t though

The P365 has been on my radar, but the (not yet released) Flux Raider 365 really opened my eyes to the possibilities of a well supported modular system, especially in New Jersey, where the laws are set up to make purchasing additional handguns an ordeal. This, while a little spendy, seems like another interesting 3rd party option.
@@cafn8ed74 I wasn't aware of NJ's laws on handguns.... that sucks.
But, if they limit you to your handguns then the p365 FCU is the way to go. Especially with all the lowers that are available and Shalotek even has some full size options for the 365 FCU. So you could really go wild while still only "owning" one pistol.

Get the best of both worlds.. i have the xmarco IP lower and Shalotek Xxlc slide... looks and feels amazing.. $300 for the slide ... best value i have seen for just the slide with all their features.. totally recommend
Would be SICK AF if sig came out with a TXG macro frame
So many people hate on the p365 platform but I’ve had nothing but an amazing experience and I’ve owned them since the very early model. I shoot them too good to change to anything else for edc. My main carry is either a stock macro on a Icarus precision or the LX with PMM barrel and comp on another Icarus Precision grip module and absolutely love them.
I completely agree. I bought gen1 p365 and had the firing pin/striker break like so many others did at about the 600 round mark.
Sent it back to sig, got it back and never had another issue.
Bought the XL, built a X-Macro, and finally the Shalotek pre-built package.
So many options around a reliable pistol that shoots well.

@@SmallArmsFirearmsone thing Ive changed in all 365’s is I’ve went to the tactical trigger upgrade kit. It’s made a world of difference with the take up and reset

It was my go to carry every day until I got my Shalotek.
It is one of the best EDC pistols I have ever shot. Can’t go wrong with that one.
What model of slimfit holster fits this gun? Thumb throttle, optic, and light all fit?

Great question. I have not had a chance to compare them. But if I get my hands on one I will report back.
If you have large hands I would suggest going with Shalotek. Especially since they have new grip panels coming out soon.
@@SmallArmsFirearms I actually have small hands. Wondering if the Icarus is better suited for someone with Medium size glove hands?
@@Substancejdno potentially. But I had 4 other people shooting all of them and 2 of them have small to medium size hands.
They all agreed that Shalotek fit the best. Some couldn’t explain why, but there was an overall agreement on that.
Now, I have heard from other people that owned both the Icarus XL size and the Icarus Macro size, and they have confirmed that the new texture/stippling on the Macro size is better. The thumb rest is still slippery though.
Sharps bros also has a really nice aluminum grip
And the mischief machine grip modules are also metal. Thanks for the heads up. Still trying to keep track of all the ones coming out and I'm sure we will see more in the future. Icarus just launched their polymer one too. Be curious to test that one out also
I'm looking at the Sharps Bros, but this is basically a complete gun except the FCU, is that correct @SmallArmsFirearms?

This was a great video! If you were to build one, what spring would you recommend/use?
Which spring?
Since I made this video I played with some of the trigger springs but that is all.

@@danrusso I have not heard of using their products in a p365.
I have heard of the DPM spring kit but I honestly didn’t feel the need.
You can see in my newer videos how flat the final build shoots that I didn’t want to mess with matching a spring to my defense loads.
Just personal preference really.
I love the Shalotek slide, but I'm not really on board with the looks of the grip.
Best part is you can just order the slide too if that's all you want.
I like the way it looks but most importantly I was looking for the thumb ledge and the ability to convert the grip size if I wanted to.
The stippling on the stock X-Macro grip is better but the grip on the Shalotek is slightly wider, giving me a better grip on the pistol. So that is something to consider.
I went with the Mischief Machine Macro xxl frame, 365xl slide with Holosun 507k, PMM barrel and comp, TLR-7 sub with antimatter wing and tac dev +2 basepads. It’s my mini striker fired Sig-ccato XC 😅
Hahahha. I love it. I think I’m about to compare mine to a “normal” full size striker gun with high speed. More to come soon
@@SmallArmsFirearms you might wanna check out the PMM barrel and comp as well. I shot mine side by side with a couple friends and they all said the same thing. The PMM set up shot flatter and faster than the shalotek and had less felt recoil with a much quicker return to zero. If you have an FFL I could send you mine and you can shoot the crap out of it and see how you like it 👍🏻 you wouldn’t be the first TH-camr to shoot my gun lol I’ve been trying to show everyone my setup because this is how I think the gun should come from the factory.

Needless to say I now own the PMM on my Shalotek and it’s one of the fastest pistols I own for return to zero hah

@@SmallArmsFirearms sweet 🥳 maybe you can get Shalotek to make a frame that’ll give a flush fit rail with the 3.7” PMM barrel and comp. That would look nice 😎 I do like the look of their grip module, I’m just waiting a little longer before I buy one. I wanna know how they hold up over time and they just haven’t been out long enough yet. I think it being so many different pieces is what has me on the fence. That’s why I personally went with the Mischief Machine commander grip module, because I know guys that have had them for years and beat the hell out of them. Plus they have the steel recoil lug in the frame, where everyone else like Icarus and Sharps Bros pretty much do aluminum. Keep us posted on that frame Good Sir 🫡 I’d definitely be interested in one if they stand the test of time. Also, the antimatter industries micro wing for the TLR-7 sub is a really nice addition to ANY of the smaller CCW pistol. I think they should lower the price because it’s not worth 120 bucks lol but it is a nice addition to the overall package I built.
@@Bryan-1980 I do have a the tactical defense or something tlr7 sub wing on my XL lower.
Shalotek does make longer frames that will fit the 3.7 flush I believe. You would have to check their site because they have a long slide version lower also.

That was the original Icarus that is the replacement for the p365XL. Not the newer macro size Icarus.

@@Osprey1994 I agree, especially since I only ever handled the gentlemen's Icarus in the video a few times. My initial impression on the Icarus for p365XL is that the grip shape feels good, but whatever they for their "stippling" and anodizing, it just doesn't work for me. My hands weren't sweaty and it just felt like it wanted to slip away from me.
Using the integrated thumb throttle/gas pedal (whatever you want to call it) was also difficult to keep my thumb in position.
For the price of the Icarus grip module... I can't recommend it from even my initial impressions
Is the Shalotek slide longer than the standard xmacro slide? If not, which one should I get that would be the same size is the original?
XXLC is longer than X-Macro slide. My assumption would be that the P365XLC slide is the same length as the X-Macro but I’m not positive.

How was muzzle rise on the pmm vs shalotek vs the macro comp?
The PMM seemed to jump a little more compared the the full Shalotek prebuilt package. But it was very difficult to tell and after 5 of us shot both of them, we all concluded it just had to be the grip module that allowed us to control it better on the Shalotek.
The X-Macro Comp seemed to flip more than the other two but for the price I consider it a big contender considering the other two were about 400-500 more than just a stock X-Macro.
Will this slide work with an XL frame?
Yes, it will just hang over a bit. It uses an XL length barrel
Is the gas pedal connected to the light or is it part of the frame
@@StroyeGaillard great question, it is actually integrated into the trigger guard.
The trigger guard is modular so you swap it out with a normal one if you don’t want the gas pedal.

L or XL depending on brand. My Hestra’s are size 10
What would you suggest for a complete shalotek set up for edc? Specifics please.
Depends on your size TBH. I carry the full Shalotek XLR-17 during colder months and a stock sig XL grip during warmer months. The bigger grip prints too much on me with lightweight clothing (new video about this soon).
Both of them I use the stock XL slide with the PMM XL length barrel/comp combo.
So if you have a bigger body frame than me you might be able to get away with the macro size grip in summer months

@@firemed221 from the front of the compensator to the very back of the slide is 6 and 7/8 inches.

So, Shalotek comes with a complete upper and complete lower? Of course minus the FCU
If you buy one of the “prebuilt” packages. They also sell everything separately if you only need say the lower.

You can’t go wrong with it IMO. Performance wise the PMM comp and barrel combo does more but you have to contend with taking the comp off every time you need to remove the barrel from the slide.
Not a problem for me but some don’t want to have to deal with that every time.

Not sure I follow? I bought the Shalotek, stock XL, and stock X-Macro grip lowers. The Icarus is owned by a friend of mine.
