This video creeps me out and makes me feel like a great and mysterious evil has triumphed over the fabric of life itself. I was especially disturbed at how the narrator makes it sound as if the Necrons destroyed the Blood Raven chapter everywhere for all time.
The Necrons have technology beyond any other race in the galaxy. They're the only ones who have faster than light technology without using the Warp for travel. Gauss weaponry is beyond all others knowledge as well. As far as age goes, the Eldar, Orks, and Human races were created by the Old Ones, as weapons to battle against the C'tan and their Necrons. To say that the Eldar are older or more technologically advanced than the Necrons, is frankly, foolish.
I did a playthrough with these guys, honestly I'm glad that I left the Eldar for last because of the rivalry the lore has between the two factions, it just makes sense to save your personal rivals for last above all other enemies.
One addition: It was actually the Warp lifeforms known as Enslavers that drove the Necrons into stasis, as they nearly destroyed all life in the galaxy. The Necrons were doing a fair job of that themselves, but the Old Ones and their creations were still in the fight by that point and just might have been able to turn the tide with a breakthrough or two.
The idea of living metal was very clever. LITERAL cyborgs, as opposed to zombies with a couple of fake limbs and cables hanging off them, like in most works of fiction.

Nah pre-Imperial + Human era, Eldar Empire and Old ones vs the Necrons during the war in heaven. That war created the Chaos Gods, the Orks and attracted the Tyranids like flies to a light bulb.
Yes, but in the book Dawn of War : The Blood Raven's Omnibus, Taldeer is a major farseer of the Biel-tan craftworld. She even had a personal relationship with Macha herself.
@Lathox They created Chaos. The first 3 chaos gods came to life during that war, they became Gods later in M1. Eldar and the other races exterminated the C'Tan (except the 4). They used daemons as biological weapons. At the end of the war an early form of daemon called an Enslaver came and decimated the Old Kinds. The Old Ones won the war by creating krORKs and Jokaro. The Old Ones created Orks, Daemons, a malevolent Warp and Eldar (+Dark Eldar). They only things they didn't cause are Nids.
@necron121 That was just after the second war, when they scattered it is there are theories that they discovered the reason for the galaxy. It caused them to revert to a tribal level.I believe the Slann are their decendants.
I hate using Wiki quotes, but:"Of these races, a few survive today, such as the Eldar, Jokaero, Hrud, the Krork (who, it is speculated, became Orks) and to a certain extent Humans (although Humans were not created for this purpose and may have had the psyker gene seeded into the gene-pool.)" For more definitive evidence, in Xenology, there is an ancient xeno tablet that details the creations of the Old Ones. The missing tier, held in secret by the Conclave Conservati, depicts a human.
To add to GH21422s summary of the necrons past there was originally many C'tan but the deceiver being the weakest tricked them into eating each other. The reason Thomas Macabee was transformed into a Necron Pariah was due to him being a "Blank". A rare and special mutant strain among mankind that projects a "Null Field" which nullifies the effects the "Immaterium" (Warp) has on the physical plane. When taking particularly potent Blanks such as the "Sisters of Silence" and members of the Culexus branch of the "Officio Assassinorum" into account, the Null Field can be strong enough to instantly kill any being that draws power from the Warp, whether they are "Neverborn" (Daemons) or "Psykers" such as the Blood Ravens Librarian Isador.
