    Thank you for this video, it’s very helpful when you’re just getting into these old tractors

    You are mushrooming out the end of that shaft!

    Little teaser spring is very important in proper use

    Hello. Would you suggest to lube the whole drive shaft especially under the spring to help prevent wear? Obviously not the clutch & plates.

    • @dianasimon2060
      @dianasimon2060 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I spray some silicone on it, prevents binding, but don’t get it on those plates

    Look into the end of the motor, there is a cup bushing in thereto replace. The end of the shaft rides in it.

    The new throw out bearing i got was also much bigger than the original bearing on my 70 refurbish so i put the old one in but i'm getting ready to pull it all out and redo it because i can not get the clutch to release.correctly.

      Hey please let me know if the new bearing works. They are a bit larger, and I'm looking to get one. These clutches are a nightmare. I need to learn any trick I can.

    Compress that spring up to the side of the vise then tap on it. Compress the spring a little and drive out the pin. No flying spring

    Now I have a question for you. How far from the back hole did you drill your 'helper hole'? looks to be about 2 1/2 ". Thanks a million. I would never figure this out on my own!

    • @Stevestractoradventures
      @Stevestractoradventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll be honest im unsure. I actually had to drill a second one as the first was to close

      @@Stevestractoradventures Hey thanks for getting back to me-I just looked at your drive shaft and guestimated, and drilled. New bearing on the way and that's all I need to get her up and running. (hopefully) Cheers from South Carolina

    I restored my 108 taking a LONG time, only to discover on the first run that the throw out bearing exploded on me. AAARRRRRRGHHH! Back to square one....

    So what I want to know is how you get it out

  • @larrysmith8635

    I used 2x6 wood a bout 18 in long.
    In the center 1 in down drilled 17 / 32 hole (.531 Dec) The on the same center line drilled 3/8 holes about 4 in from center both sides.
    Use all tread two ft . Double lock nut one end. Run the all tread both sides drive shaft in middle. Tighten up all tread until release the spring pressure.. Knock out rolled pins release the all tread bam
    DONE DEAL
    THANK YOU drop the mic

    Lay parts out in right order. Take a picture or map a map. Can get em on in wrong order!,

  • @larrysmith8635

    Clean up the end of the shaft and the entire length. The second plate needs to move about 1/4 of a inch. That's how it releases the clutch plate.

  • @larrysmith8635
    @larrysmith8635 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sorry but was painful for me to watch you taking that drive shaft apart.
    Can't wait to see how you reassemble it now.

    sweet. i soooo hate the voltage regs on these... wish there was some sort of better setup. without buyin the coil ring for the flywheel.. grrrrrr.. ooooooo i might have idea just poped in head.

    • @Stevestractoradventures
      @Stevestractoradventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In theory you could rig a 12 volt alternator to the flywheel side of motor off the pulley there. But pulling clutch shaft to change a belt would not be fun
