Man, when I heard you say your daughter was going to crank it first! My son is almost 3 and LOVES tractors. He rides my Kubota zero turn every time it turns on. I am 100% going to have him start my Cub Cadet whenever I finally get one.
I have a 129 hydro planning on doing restoration on it.. great video gave me a lot of ideas..also have a 108 gear drive and 71 gear drive with creeper gear...got them all from a gentleman who collected IH stuff and now I have the IH bug.... it's a great hobby it has been a joy working on them.... your right these are made when they made stuff to last....
If you want to smooth out the hydro shift lever take off the plate between the seat and steering tower...there are four small bolts holding it on...this will expose the shift linkage.....you will probably find that the linkage has never been lubed...there are a couple of guide pins that ride in channels and a pivot point...all could use some grease and it really makes it a lot easier and smooth to use the shift lever
Good video...I just came across one in good condition with a Danco loader....I just wish there were links to the suppliers of the ignition item...good luck with the tractor
Love my cubs I still have my dad's 1969 104 . But learn the hard way I rebuilt the engine when I was real little and didn't know that you had to replace the connecting rod if you take it apart put it back on and it will knock
Whats his name on TH-cam that you watch 2 hours of his cub 129 videos? I just bought my grandfathers. Awesome looking tractor. Love the nylon washers mod. Also love the timing mod. Do you have a link for that?
Aaron Rankin this link should take you to TH-cam user 500passwords video series on his Cub restoration. He even restores a mower deck. Let me know if this doesn't work. th-cam.com/play/PL1E2830BA53F5DBCE.html
Yeah, I think oil is one of those things that there are many opinions on. You use the heavier weight because of the increased tolerances in the engine with age?
yeah i also have a 1973 128 cubcadet k-301a 42 in cut i'm fixing to restore the old beast there's nothing like ours today with these new cabcadet's there junk.

Man, you're one lucky fella. That's a sweet Cub! Got all the good attachments too. That's awesome. 😎
I have 7 or 8 cubs from '68 to '80 when International sold. You really have a keeper. Don't be afraid to invest in this beauty. Good Luck, Gary
Thanks, Gary. I am really proud of my Cub and especially excited to mow with it again this summer.

These tractors were made to last, that's for sure. Good luck with your restoration. I think the time and money spent on these Cubs is well spent!
Just picked up one of these in a trade and starting to learn about them. Thanks for sharing some of your research.
You’re hooked now Mr Rick ! Such quality and pride back when it was IH
Just picked a 129 up,snowplower ,, deck,, looking forward to future restoration.
Congratulations and good luck on the resto!

I just got one today. It needs some work but I love it already. I also have a 69 123 hydrostat that has been a boss mode mower and snow mover
Nice machine!
Thank you!
A great video I also have a 129 cub cadet. your video was very informative
Thanks, Warren. I am getting ready to put the mower on and cut grass for the first time of the season soon. Best to you.

I reused the rod. My uncle helped me measure and it was within the Cub spec for wear and I've had no issue.
Really nice 129 👍 really good review
Thank you, Joel!
yeah you really did good i'm proud of you
Thanks!
So does the 129 have a rear pto ? And if so does it just go up and down.
I just bought one just like it

What about zinc and phosphorus in your motor oil? Flat tappet cam.!!
I own a 1971 international harvester Cub cadet model 108
Proud of it I’ll bet !
They got away from zinc in the regular oils. I would use a racing oil that is high in zinc.
With in unrebiult engines I use 40w oil on my k301 12hp John Deere 212.
