This reporter is very good. She asks questions very politely and in a way to help the audience understand. It's really nice to see her very involved in what she reporting on. The information they gathered is good as well. I'm personally not a Lolita wearer but it always irks me when people assume that the fashion is based on the Lolita book or is part of some fetish because it really is such a beautiful style.
Because they are uneducated and they follow the strict rules on what is right and wrong and to them wearing clothes like this make one appear weird or younger, so they follow the rules and make fun of those who dont because they dont know better
Right better than wearing clothes that show half your private body parts like most hoes wear now a days 🤷♀️ i mean what everyone on Instagram wears hoe clothes.. now that is terrible
I was watching this with my roommate Eevee (yes it's a nickname) and while I was watching this every few seconds I would hear a shriek beside me "Oh my gosh her shoes are so cute!" or "Oh my god I have to have her dress!" I have a Harajuku fanatic, a lolita fanatic, a cyber goth fanatic, and a victorian goth & steampunk fanatic (me) living in the house my three friends and I share. All hours of the day you hear "Hey has anyone seen my green goggles?!" "Where's my tea party skirt?!" "Where are my Hello Kitty high tops?!" "Val have you seen my red bustle skirt?!" It's never boring at our house lol.
The girl from Belgium is so right. I wore my hair two buns once and people just kept staring like I had a dead animal on my head or something. Weird country...
You guys should unite like people in The Netherlands do by creating tea party's,meetings and other events who are alike. It's really amazing to find friends wearing the same stuff you like all together and it makes you feel more confident/comfortable with it. Facebook is also a great place to unite on. Good luck and have fun! ;)
I wore casual gothic lolita to brussels earlier this month, and i got some compliments, and some people whose face read "wtf o_o". Hahaha it's funny actually, because they're so ignorant it's pitiful. With their lame blue jeans.
They do get together once in awhile, but i can never join them because they always do this on saturdays and i have to work. So i'm a friendless lolita-chan
yes! i always liked the lolita style, but had the feeling that is was too much over the top. Her dresses are exactly what i head in my head for the perfect lolita style :)
"Why not just dress more modest?" she says. That's not what it's about! Unique styles and subcultures are about self expression. I wish the world wasn't so serious. I would loved to wear whatever I want whenever I want and have no one bat an eye.
+spakleag0409 im only 14 too and i think that kind of dresses are so beautiful!!! But im from Denmark and everyone in Denmark only wears black and only wears skinny jeans! And im just not that kind of girl! I cant get myself to only wear black, thats boring as heck! I do own a couple of skinny jeans, but i Think that most of them are uncomftable to wear😅so im only wearing them when its to cold to wear my skirts and shorts. Right now i only stand out a little bit from the crowd because i actually choose to wear some colour, i would never have the courage to go out in that kind of lolita dress! Everyone already looks at me because im not wearing that much black! Then think about how much people would at me if i wear that kind of dress!😱 and im not that kinda girl who loves attention so it would also be very uncomftable for me... I wish i could be that brave. But im thinking about sewing my own clothes in the future and designing it! Then i Can make these kinds of dresses but modern!😄
Jessika Langlois Thank you for saying this. I've been in the Lolita Fashion for almost 10 years and I've never even heard of her as a Lolita. Such a random interjection to a otherwise great video.
I agree with you!! That's crazy ten years!! I'm very new still I've only been dressing Sweet Lolita for 5 months now:) but I love it, I found myself in all things pastel and kawaii!! :)
Shamelesslilly I'd consider it Lolita. To me it looks like a new more "mature" substyle, great for some girls who think they're getting too old for the other styles. Also, Ero-Lolita is considered a substyle yet it still shows skin and cleavage sometimes. They also talk about her direction with her brand in this video and it's connection with the rest of the fashion...so I don't get how this is a "random interjection"
kfad That's great that you like her style, but you can't glue fur to a iguana and call it a puppy ^_~. Her dresses are really pretty, but they aren't Lolita. Lolita is first and foremost defined by the silhouette. The fashion designers dresses do not match that. Her dresses have a style and silhouette that looks like a ballerina, and not a bell or A line shape. Also, I don't think anyone has considered Ero-Lolita a legitimate sub-style of Lolita in a long time, but that being said, Ero-Lolita still wouldn't be as exposed as this lady's dresses are. Finally, the more mature sub-styles of Lolita (Classic for example) are almost always the MOST modest by default. Like I said it's great that you like Lolita and this woman's designs, Absolutely nothing wrong with that ^_^. This women is doing her own thing which is awesome, and while she may have been inspired by Lolita, her designs are something else. Maybe she could be at the start of something totally new! Just offering you some perspective to my comment.
I get where you're coming from to en extent but How does that not fit the silhouette?! How are her dresses not bell or A-line?! Have you seen the rest of her collection? Also a lot of how she advertises her dresses are by not wearing a blouse or stockings...Juliette et Justine does this as well and a lot of the time without a petticoat too (signature lolita shape) and often times when advertised doesn't even look lolita yet it's a pretty big brand among us . Also I don't think you've ever seen Ero if you honestly think that it's less exposed. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's not apart of the fashion! Her and her clothes aren't even that revealing to begin with. But you're right I do think it's the start of something new...in the Lolita fashion. I would encourage you to look at more of her designs too
I wish there were more outstanding stores here in America. Stores like Lolita styled, kawaii, vintage, kpop, etc. We just have boring boring stores like Forever 21, Macy's, etc. Bleh. 😒
I have seen one or two girls walking around dressed like this in my school. I think it's adorable but I could never be bothered to dress like that myself
I personally don't dress as a lolita, but have friends who do and they usually go to anime conventions, where there are probably at least a couple dozen.
Kizana Sunobu You might be able to find some dresses at the thrift store that could fit Lolita style with a little altering! It doesn't take a skilled tailor to change a dress, if it already fits your personal style. You could sew lace onto the hem, or add frills to the skirt. Look up videos on TH-cam on how to alter clothes, it's fairly easy once you get the hang of it. I have a very bold fashion sense myself, (as well as little money) and when that's the case, thrift stores are your best friend!
This is the best/underrated series on youtube you guys deserve more views for your hard work! Also the host has such a lovely accent :) keep it up guys 💖
I've watched all the videos in the series and haven't found any single flaw. It doesn't has any prejudice and gives a good point of view. This is really good, i actually want more.
Soon I'm going to start buying my first lolita outfits and finally be true to how I feel on the inside, I am a bit nervous of being judged by others when I go out and I'm going to be alone since nobody I know likes this style. I hope to one day be able to go to this beautiful place, be happy and make lots of friends!
I am Dutch myself too, and me and my friends are inspired by Decora/Harajuku and Lolita style a LOT. One thing though, we are more Scene like then Lolita, but again, we are REALLY inspired by it. It's an amazing style and culture, i totally love the people in the community, they are so open! :)
I feel disgusted when people laugh or judge the people that wear these types of clothing. Those dresses and shoes and beautiful and adorable! Why can't people just let others dress how they want?
I have a girl in my class who is into Lolita :) She sometimes wears a couple of items in class. (I go to Artschool in Breda btw) She wore a complete outfit when we went to Dutch Comic Con with a group from my class :) And another classmate wore it as well.
Anne Charlotte Snijders AHAHAHAHAHAHA kan wel ja.. maak grap het lijkt niet eens op Amsterdam, maar goed. AnneMaaikie Oh okay, that's cool. You don't know when Dutch Comic Con is going to take place, do you? I would love to visit a Comic Con. anonymiss lulz AHAHAHA en nu heb je kennelijk een hele groep lolita's in Amsterdam! Zoek ze op! Lijkt me gezellig =P
Comic Con is volgend jaar weer in maart :) Ze hebben ook hun eigen facebook pagina (Dutch Comic Con) , daar kun je alle nieuwtjes in de gaten houden! Ook de presale is gestart!
Yet another great episode of this absolutely gorgeous and well made series. The beauty and curiosity as well as the likeable personality of the host lady is the cherry on top in my opinion.
I love the Lolita style and especially classic Lolita and would love to try it out but I live in a small village in Germany and everyone would judge so I am scared. The farthest I will be able to go is a cute frilly summer dress and a bow in my hair.
Kelly Lanson Try incorporating more Lolita pieces in your wardrobe little by little. People may get used to it and you won't notice them noticing after a while. You only live once - dress the way you want and if people judge, that's their problem!
Hallo ich weiß wie es dir geht ich lebe in einer Kleinen Stadt und ich habe auch riesen Angst das ich ausgegrenzt werde deswegen. ich bin ja noch in der Schule
guys, you are so great! the video is INTERESTING, it looks very professional and the reporter is perfect! also, the best part is that you try to truly understand the reason people dress like this, really listen to them instead of just making a review of how you see it
I love this. I wish there were more, I've learned so much I never knew about very specific and unique sub cultures in many societies. Thank you so much for making these.
I love this series! An got goosebumps in the end. I love the idea of raising tolerance and understanding for others and their personal tastes and styles and even more that you can draw inspirationfrom a lot of different places and people.
I really like the silhouette of the shy girl's outfit at 3:35, it looks so cute. You usually see A-line silhouettes with either a longer skirt or more subdued poof, but that combination of a skirt on the shorter end of the lolita scale and a really puffy A-line petticoat is both unusual and really cute.
One of my favorite styles. I love wearing things like these but really lowkey- plain/lacey dresses, sheer tights, and knee high lace socks, but only on occasions. This style is so cute, and the girls seem so sweet.
Thank you for this video. Thank you for showing what the fashion is about. Thank you for shining a positive light on a community that is misunderstood. This makes my heart smile.
This series is so great! I does not put people, as Lolitas into a bad light, it more like reports in a neutral to positive way, using actual facts! Great!
The girl who has a more refined lolita style, I can't recall her name, does anyone know what she does to get her skirt to stay out like that? I thought it was petticoats but at 5:42 it doesn't look like she has any petticoats on...
Alvast echt heel erg bedankt!!
I love the Lolita style. Fell in love with it several years ago and continue to love it. I just wish I could actually dress that way, but clothes and accessories are expensive and I literally have no where to go in those clothes. : (
Young adults mostly.. So probably students. But what does it matter? If you watched the whole video you'd know they will mostly only wear it to meetings with friends... not everyday... So they could be a lawyer or cashier, you wouldn't notice.
I've been re-watching a lot of lolita documentaries, because I live far away from all the comms (and of course I can't meet them due to the oandemic anyways) so watching communities being documented is making me really happy and hopeful to be part of one someday.
I live in buttfuck USA, where we have like only 20 dedicated Lolita’s across the entire state. SCREAMING CRYING THROWING UP, BASHING MY HEAD AGAINST THE WALL
ChillyPotato Thrift stores are your best friend! It doesn't take a skilled tailor to alter a dress into a Lolita style, if it already fits your personal ideas of what you want. You could sew lace onto the hem, or add frills to the skirt. Look up videos on TH-cam on how to alter clothes, it's fairly easy once you get the hang of it. Hope this helps! (:
I love this!! I'm much older but facinated how youtube can take you around the world. There's so many negatives & this is very positive! Especially because they can conncet with friends! No drugs, no crime, no volgarity! Whats interesting is Japan and Amsterdam are conservative & orderly. This is a nice & fun way to be individually you!
Very awesome to highlight a pretty 'invisible' subculture like this. Maybe change the title to 'in The Netherlands' though, as half of it is filmed in Utrecht :')
Yes this reporter lady is very respectful and really dives into her work. She really makes me want to do these kinds of documentary's. I have a kick for people and people seem to really open up to me.
I'm Going To Highschool After Summer Vacation And My Dream is To Become A Lolita, I Live In The Netherlands Myself And I Didn't Know That There Were Actual Lolita Shops, I'm Gonna Beg My Mom To Go There Ehehe :3
The girl in the green simple dress is so pretty. Her shoes as well! Also, I thought they said that Lolita's that they show not cleavage or shoulders. The girl who produced the clothes had certain outfits with low cut and shoulder showing.😕 I don't mind it though, no hate. Lolita's are very pretty.
"I am a really shy person - this is probably the loudest I'll ever be"
I really like how she phrased that.
Cupid Betty refinery29 is my lifestyle/fashion/beauty news page ever
The reporter also has the prettiest face of them all... imho. ;)
Why do people laugh at them? I think it's a beautiful style.
they laugh because it stands out. And let's face it, sweet lolita can look very silly. Cute, but silly. I still love it though!
Because people are scared to express there style because strangers want to break you down so they can ferl better.
Ikr!
Almost cried at the high fashion Lolita style in the end. I need of those outfits immediately.
Ikr? So beautiful! 😊
I think I could do it if I had a group of friends lol I'm too much of a coward to do it on my own
Jessica Coles I know right! They're amazing...
***** Exactly! I think I would look pretty ridiculous in it, but I feel like it would bring me a lot more confidence!
Ikr?! They're GORGEOUS...
Once again, I think you guys make the best documentaries without being biased on TH-cam. Thanks for the video!
Thank you, thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. This is one of our favs :)

I adore this series, it's so incredible. It really puts into perspective why people dress in a certain way.
bonjour.sera I completely agree!!!
Well, only when it was hosted by Asha... The new host, Connie Wang, seams so fake and disrespectful!
The girl from Belgium is so right. I wore my hair two buns once and people just kept staring like I had a dead animal on my head or something. Weird country...
Ikr I am also from belgium and I love lolita Just way to scared to like really wear it
You guys should unite like people in The Netherlands do by creating tea party's,meetings and other events who are alike.

xJProductionsx Yeah in most places in Belgium they don't like things that are different.
I wore casual gothic lolita to brussels earlier this month, and i got some compliments, and some people whose face read "wtf o_o". Hahaha it's funny actually, because they're so ignorant it's pitiful. With their lame blue jeans.

How could anyone not think this is adorable
Please don't ever stop with this series.
i personally would not wear this style but i love the confidence and colour this gives these young ladies! i applaud them for their boldness.
I REALLY liked the Linda Friesen dress the host was wearing. I would definitly wear that :D
Yes the host looked absolutle stunning in it!
+Myrthe de Koning umms oi
+Myrthe de Koning gxdytttt
OMG me too! I absolutely would wear that whole outfit
THOSE HIGHFASHION LOLITA DRESS THINGIES ARE FUCKING BEAUTIFUL, that woman is seriously talented
THE PETTICOATS AND THAT INNER THINGY THINGY THAT MAKES THE SKIRTS POOFY. Freaking amazing, it feels like the skirt is fluffy and flowing 😍😍😍😍

+Lindsey Luna She is a journalist she HAS TO ask those questions
9p0q9999ok.mmmmll8i
this is so true. all wearing the same things so boring
She asked that question so people are thinking about it would know why. That's why she had to ask that.
yes i agree lindsey
oh my god i'd LOVE to dress like that everyday
me too but I'm only 14 and the best I have is my colorful circle dresses
+spakleag0409 I'm 14 too but I got into Lolita at age 10 but I was to scared to wear it.
i also want to dress lolita everyday but i only have one outfit :'(

Okay the fashion designer at the end IS NOT A LOLITA. Though her designs are lovely, the low cut and corsets are NOT Lolita
Jessika Langlois Thank you for saying this. I've been in the Lolita Fashion for almost 10 years and I've never even heard of her as a Lolita. Such a random interjection to a otherwise great video.

It takes courage to walk on the streets & not bothered by name calling or being judged .I love their fashion style.

Thank you for this video. Thank you for showing what the fashion is about. Thank you for shining a positive light on a community that is misunderstood. This makes my heart smile.
I actually love this fashion style
:( awh , please bring this series back. I really enjoyed the documentary and the host.
Maybe it's the hair, but I'm getting a definite Phoebe Buffay vibe from the designer.
i almost cried. This is so lovely, they hold together and just do what they wnat! And still they are soooo kind
Omg I love this fashion
This series is so great! I does not put people, as Lolitas into a bad light, it more like reports in a neutral to positive way, using actual facts! Great!
Though there's only talk about the girls, I know brolitas as well, there one in the video too... Totally love this style btw!
The girl who has a more refined lolita style, I can't recall her name, does anyone know what she does to get her skirt to stay out like that? I thought it was petticoats but at 5:42 it doesn't look like she has any petticoats on...
I live in the Netherlands.... There is almost NO lolita shops there :(
I hate that cuz im a starting lolita :(
Alvast echt heel erg bedankt!!
i'm so in love with this entire series!
I love the Lolita style. Fell in love with it several years ago and continue to love it. I just wish I could actually dress that way, but clothes and accessories are expensive and I literally have no where to go in those clothes. : (
Wow thumbs up to this series! I look forward to it every week :D
I love that grey dress
I love how this docu was made. Thank u for introducing me to 4O'clock! Linda's creations are so beautiful.
I have a question.. no hate, but what is their everyday job? jw..
I love this style!
They look so gorgeous!! Love this series the most hehe it's so interesting. Thank you and keep up the good work!!! ;)
I've always liked Lolita stuff, but I couldn't afford anything lol
ChillyPotato Thrift stores are your best friend! It doesn't take a skilled tailor to alter a dress into a Lolita style, if it already fits your personal ideas of what you want. You could sew lace onto the hem, or add frills to the skirt. Look up videos on TH-cam on how to alter clothes, it's fairly easy once you get the hang of it. Hope this helps! (:
The dresses are really cute. Good to know more about the history. Linda's design are beautiful. Those shoes 💖!
I really want to dress as a Lolita once, I really like that cute feminine style and these dresses..
I live in the Netherlands and I never saw this. Never knew we had it lolita's eather. It looks really cool tho.
I literally LOVE these outfits. It's like vintage princess anime. MY FAVORITE
Very awesome to highlight a pretty 'invisible' subculture like this. Maybe change the title to 'in The Netherlands' though, as half of it is filmed in Utrecht :')
The storyline and research is flawless. Thank you!
I went to Amsterdam last year April with my school, and I wore Lolita on Kings Day XD
Yes this reporter lady is very respectful and really dives into her work. She really makes me want to do these kinds of documentary's. I have a kick for people and people seem to really open up to me.
I love lolita fashion!
these are beautiful dresses! the girls look so pretty!
I know my Amsterdam, the meeting at the end of the video is in Utrecht. Just sayin'
Does anyone know where I can find the bunny bag at 0:34
I'm Going To Highschool After Summer Vacation And My Dream is To Become A Lolita, I Live In The Netherlands Myself And I Didn't Know That There Were Actual Lolita Shops, I'm Gonna Beg My Mom To Go There Ehehe :3
+VideoGamerBear1XoXo Ik ook niet :3 ik wil ooit een keer lolita kleding dragen..
Fuwaa ;-; School Is Irritant ;-;
Ik ben niet de enige yes! :P
n
Another great and respectful documentary ! I hope to see more, also from other countries' alternative fashion !
She looked so good with the fashion designers dress on though- I would love to get one
i love your channel so much
I kinda wanna dress like this now😂
Go for it :D
I’m sorry but did no one notice that the lady’s at the end had worn heels WITH NO ACTUAL HEEL. 5:55
I wish I was one of them :'v
the dresses at the end were so beautiful
The girl in the green simple dress is so pretty. Her shoes as well! Also, I thought they said that Lolita's that they show not cleavage or shoulders. The girl who produced the clothes had certain outfits with low cut and shoulder showing.😕 I don't mind it though, no hate. Lolita's are very pretty.
Anne Hoaglund I believe that's sort of the point of her clothing line; breaking the rules of traditional Lolitas.
I love it when cultures share and accept it while creating it has their own in an unique style expressing what makes them happy.
