1969 VW Baja Bug - Drive and Review

This 1969 VW Baja Bug was purchased as a project car during COVID.
Everything has been touched on it. The Bug was stripped down to a bare shell and new OEM floor pans were installed along with a heavy duty custom rear shelf that supports the integrated rollbar. A custom made rear wing protects the engine and finishes off the baja look. The body was then painted in a Charcoal Gray Raptor truck liner paint inside and out before replacing the windows and using new seals. New seats and four point harnesses added along with a fire extinguisher.
Electronically, a new wiring harness was sourced with an auxiliary switch panel and circuit breakers, finished off with a marine-grade cutoff switch. New LED lights front and rear were added along with a light bar on the front push bar. Finally, a new Interstate battery was acquired to power everything.
Mechanically, a fresh hot 1776 4-cylinder engine was sourced, the original transmission gone through and all bushings were replaced. Class 11 Bilstein Reservoir Shocks were added along with a Chevy bolt pattern adaptor that allowed the use of Nascar Truck-style wheels and new Federal MT tires.
This VW Baja Bug now has just over 200 break-in miles and is runs great! It's being sold to fund the next project!

I remember when I lived in El Paso Texas when I was a kid, I would occasionally see a Volkswagen Baja Beetle cruising the streets of El Paso. My buddy said that he would see Volkswagen Baja Beetles in Mexico. I told him I believe that. In grand theft auto 5, the BF Injection is a VW Baja Beetle. It’s awesome.

Good morning. I'm on BaT this morning (April 23rd) and just saw this cool looking Bug, which brought me to this video and your channel.
My very first car was a 1970 Bug with a semi-automatic 3-speed transmission. I have always thought of having a Baja Bug someday after owning that first Bug, unfortunately, as the saying goes, life happened and it never materialized.

1776 is the most bulletproof Bug engine though, add a turbo or whatever

Nice build. A bit too pretty for my tastes, l perfer more natural patina that displays the vintage and providonce of the geniusness of German engineering! A little more rat rodish, off road looking, the baja is the original side by side ATV ! Street baja? It's a drink without the booze, just saying.
