In case it says no valid update file found on the USB, I found the issue. As of today, the file downloaded from Samsung has the wrong name. In the zip file, delete the 1001 version and only keep the 1007 version, then change CCAA to CCPA.

      this comment should be pinned.
I used a USB 3.0 different sizes and always got an error, no file found
I did not have a usb 2.0 stick laying around.
I was not sure if I was doing something wrong, tired of going behind the screen I used a USB extension cable so I can easily disconnect and reconnect from/to PC/Monitor and it worked!
The cable is 2.0 only :/

I spent over an hour trying to update the firmware on my monitor today, after trying months ago and failing. I read everyone’s suggestions but I could only ever get the failed to find update message. Finally, someone said to unplug the power cable and then try. So I unplugged the power cable for a few seconds, reconnected and opened the menu and straight away I was able to get the option finally to update the firmware! It found then update on the USB drive and installed it without issue. So thanks to everyone posting suggestions on here, I’m now on the latest firmware.

Thanks. I read many sites on how to update my Samsung monitor but the critical step that none mentioned was to open the menu and hold the joystick towards the power off option for 5 seconds to display the option to update via USB. In short, the steps are 1) download the firmware from Samsung support. 2) format a USB stick as Fat32, 32 kilobyte cluster size, non-bootable, 3) copy ONLY the .bin file to the USB stick (it should be the only item on the drive), insert into monitor and open the main menu and hold down towards the power off option (dont click). Then follow the prompts to update.

Note: Do not be clever by just unplugging the hub from the computer. USB must be physically be removed from all devices. After updating you might have to power off and unplug power for it to take effect.

Huge thank you, really appreciate you taking the time to show this!
What a convoluted way to update the firmware, and the website says there should be a menu item that doesn't exist. I even contacted Samsung Support and spent 30 min setting up a profile with the girl at Samsung support only to be told the monitor wasn't under warranty anymore so they wouldn't provide support.
I used a USB 3.0 drive formatted to FAT32 and actually the port they said to plug it into in the manual was incorrect for me, I tried the other SS port and it suddenly detected it. Worth noting, the firmware update menu doesn't come up if you don't have the USB in the right port when you push the toggle button and hold it for 5 seconds down, you will see the power led flash once, indicating it is looking for the drive but doesn't find it. The menu won't come up. I switched to the other SS drive and did it again and suddenly the menu appeared when I pushed the button to the down (power off menu item) for 5 seconds.
Again, thank you for taking the time to show this. Helping our a lot of people. Samsung does not support this very well at all.

Instructions looked good. I had to rename my BIN file to CCPA instead of CCAA, as others have noted. The update completes, but after checking the firmware version post-update, it still read the old version. I saw a comment on Reddit that said try disabling HDR in Windows if the update doesn't take. Just did it on my C49HG90DMU and worked like a charm. It looks a lot more clear now. I had a flickering issue on two different computers before and thought it was the display port cable. With this update it seems to be gone now! Thanks to samsung for fixing it with firmware and your advice.

The problem is - the control button can break on these samsung screens (easily). I had an issue before where it was moving in a direction I did not point it at. Now it has been working out for a while but I can see how this could easily break and make navigation in the menu impossible. A very fragile part for such a quality screen.

Thanks for the video. I was able to upgrade my "34" CJ791 Thunderboltᵀᴹ 3 Ultra Wide Screen Curved Monitor" using this method. Some troubleshooting tips. Make sure the drive is Fat32 Formatted with Master Boot Record. I also had to try this a few times to get it to work. The port has to be the bottom / first port. Unplugging and re-plugging the display power helped it to detect the USB drive. ALL cables and hubs/devices needed to be unplugged from the monitor. The update file needed to have a lowercase extension (.bin) which was (.Bin) by default. The update was also stuck on 0% twice, but the third time worked. What a journey.

Not clear from Manual is that you push the button in (in centre position), keep it held pushed in, then pull towards you, for the 5 seconds. I was only trying to pull button towards me. Also I had to do the upgrade a couple of times, before it showed that had actually upgraded. The second time I unplugged all the cables from monitor (except power!) before doing the upgrade.

I did not have to disconnect any cable. But with me the update to 1007 did not work at the beginning either. The update was carried out, but then the firmware version was still 1004. The problem solution: First make a factory reset on the monitor. Then install the update. And that's it! V 1007 is on it.

This video helped me to realize how to actually initialize the update process, because the wording in the manual is not clear. It says "When the screen is on, press the JOG button to display the Function Key Guide. When the Function Key Guide are displayed, press and hold the JOG button down for approximately 5 seconds."
I thought "hold the button down" meant just pressing it and holding for 5 secs, but it actually means "keep it pressed for 5 secs, tilted in the down position".

      m-RG949CCAA-1007.2[2D8D].bin which is dated 2021-01-22 and a
      m-RG949CCPA-1001.1[7E7D].bin which is dated 2021-07-09...
I found out that I have already 1007.2 installed, so I don't have to find an 4-8GB USB Pen (ordered some anyways, for later) But I found it weird that the 1001.1 is newer than 1007.2 and that none of them matches the date written on their UK website.

I couldnt get the menu to appear, but here is a tip that tells you if you are doing the button pressing process correctly:
as mentioned in other comments, you need to hold the button in the whole time, the blue led (the power led) actually flashes at the 5 second mark - you can see this in the video as well at the same time the menu appears. So if the menu does not appear for you then there is an issue with the usb drive or perhaps you havent put the usb into the correct slot.
I used a number of 32gb usbs, non worked properly, however i was able to bring up the menu when i formatted one of the drives with NTFS, however the menu said it didnt detect the upgrade file....
went to the shops and brought a 16gb usb 2.0 and this worked first time - i didnt even need to reformat it.. So perhaps usb3.0 or perhaps usbs with too much memory cause issues...
thanks for the video - hopefully the above helps someone! Took me hours of fiddling!

After struggling for an hour i found this video, it helped but the comments helped with the problem i was having, the manual doesnt say to press the joystick button then pull to the down position, so i was pulling it down and getting eye saver turning on and off for five seconds, then i tried holding the button down and it would shut off and turn back on, finally the comments pointed out that you have to press it up to bring up the toggle menu then pull it to down like shutting it off but hold it there. Then it was quick and easy to update after that piece of info. Manual should have been more specific.

This was very painful. For me, I have the LC49RG90SSNXZA. This video was helpful to get me over a couple of the hurdles. For those that are confused if it is the front or the back USB, if you are facing the monitor's screen, it is the blue. port that is furthest from you. Once that was solved and a usb device was in place, pulling the power button towards you brings up the menu to search for the firmware. However, after that, I could not get it to recognize a valid firmware file. Finally, I discovered that it required a change of the file name. The file name for my firmware upgrade as downloaded from Samsung was "m-RG949CCAA-1007.2[2D8D].bin ". However, the name needed to be changed to "m-RG949CCAA-1007.2[7E7D].bin". Also on the USB drive front, all I had laying around was a 32GB USB2 drive. The USB3 drive I had wouldn't work. I had to wipe the USB2 drive and create a smaller partition on it (FAT32 MBR was the partition and disk type). I just made a 2048MB partition on it and put the file on there along with changing the name and pushing in and pulling towards, worked like a charm. Thanks for this!

I can't believe how much heartache this firmware has caused people INCLUDING myself!!!. I've had the LC49RG90SSNXZA for several years and never been able to update the firmware. Decided to try again today (06/26/24) and easily burned through 2+ hours before stumbling across this video. In a nutshell, this what I did...(not saying any one step is part of the solution)
    - Formatted a 8GB USB 2 to Fat32 @ 32 kilobyte cluster size as someone here mentioned. For the record, I had tried 3-4 other USBs (including 3.0) to no avail.
    - Unplugged/removed all other USB devices from back of monitor so ONLY the SS1 service USB port was being used
    - Copied firmware .bin file to USB with it being the ONLY file on the drive. NOTE: My initial monitor F/W ver was 1002.0 and I was trying to go straight to 1007.2 and it did not work. So I decided to first go from 1002.0 to 1004.6 and it WORKED. Next, I tried going from 1004.6 to 1007.2 and it didn't work (weird). Given the comments about renaming the file I gave that a try...changing CCAA in the 1007.2 version to CCPA and it WORKED!
I'm not sure why we as consumers have to go through all these hurdles just to get this simple thing done, and I'm even more baffled why the latest 1007.2 version is still CCPA on Samsung's website, but whatever - I'm glad it finally worked! I hope this helps the next person in distress 😃🙌🏾✌🏾

Even doing this I never got the update option to show up. It took switching my USB to a 2.0 8GB formatted as Fat 32 at 32 kilobyte cluster size. Also make sure teh USB is in the correct port and none of the other USB ports have devices pulled in

    For the LC49HG90DMUXEN:
Disconnect all cables. Remove all adapters. Then insert the USB stick (Fat32 formatted) with the bin file on it into USB1.
Disconnect the power cable. Reconnect the power cable after 5 seconds. Wait until the screen stops searching for the source. Then start the procedure as described in the video or manual (pull the button down for 5 seconds).

I'd love to subscribe your channel if you can provide the full steps. What do you mean you installed the driver first and the driver later? Do you mean you did the USB trick twice? or do you mean you installed the driver onto your computer directly? Can you see how you copied and pasted the files into the USB driver i.e., unzip and put the .bin file type only? or the whole folder? Thanks man

    • @danielhass4812
      @danielhass4812 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I think the driver is just for your PC. So download the driver so your PC recognizes the Samsung monitor - you should see the proper name for it in the windows setting after doing it. Then do the firmware stuff with the USB. No need to do anything with the driver again. Probably a good idea to download and have the driver on your PC, regardless if you are doing a firmware update

Let's update this a bit and make it easy. Format a usb stick to FAT32 with 32kb size cluster. Download the firmware and insert usb in the ss usb port. There are two ports and hard to read text, so it's the one closest to the backside of the panel. Press and hold the power button and as soon as you press the button pull it toward you so the icon moves to the bottom power position. It should ask you to update in about 5 seconds, select yes and that's it.

Thanks for the video, this was super annoying and perhaps the worse firmware update process ever. I ended up unplugging all other USB/USB hub from the monitor. Multiple USB drives until I got one that would recognize. Note the menu will not pop-up if it doesn't like the USB drive. USB drives that worked fine in the port via a USB hub connection, didn't work for the upgrade... no idea why... For starters, load from USB should be a menu option. Anyway, thanks for the video, otherwise I would have concluded the manual was wrong and upgrading was broken...
