    Sooo I was convinced my bushings were shot, cause I kept hearing a metallic rattling. After an hour or so of trying to get that driver's side top bolt off (while listening to Steve Harvey)...I realized if you remove the skid plate, it gives you a better view and another angle to get at it! I mean STILL a 1/4 turn at a time, but the new angle helped me break the nut loose without stripping it. Oh and turns out the bushings looked new...it was the skid plate rattling! SMDH Either way your video got me there!

    • @HazyJay
      @HazyJay  ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha yeah you don't have to do all of that, you can if you want. Knowing cars the hub stud would break off while taking off the wheel and turn the job into a 6 hour ordeal.

  • @mjh12345jh
    @mjh12345jh ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Having searched for the same job on a 2013 RRS with ACE I thought that this would be similar as it's all I could find............no, absolutely not. Three bolts/side all accessed from the top, bear in mind that you can't see most of this and it's just by feel. To gain access on the passenger side (UK) you will need to remove the front propshaft, either partially or completely. Five hours including both seized tie rods, packing away and waffling with the neighbours. Tomorrow I shall tackle the rears if the weather forecast is favourable. Appreciate the video even though it didn't help in my case. I take on board the squeaking (who wants that?) but Polybush state dry fit only and if you are going to lubricate it then with what? Certain lubricants can cause premature failure. Mine will squeak like a dog's chewy toy I'm sure but I'll cross that bridge later.

    • @HazyJay
      @HazyJay  ปีที่แล้ว

      With ACE is a much more complicated job unfortunately. As far as grease, it's typically silicone or Teflon grease since lithium can eat away at rubber components (and copper grease is anti-seize and isn't for moving parts).

    Another video I'm sure I'll need! I hear a loud screech when I turn the steering wheel all the way to one side and move....but based off the limited description of your symptoms, I'm not sure this is the issue.

    • @HazyJay
      @HazyJay  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The roll bar bushings will typically make the most noise when the body rolls (going up and down a parking garage for instance). From a standstill, turning the wheel shouldn't make too much noise if the problem is the roll-bar bushings.

    @HazyJay, Ive got a 2008 RR Sport HSE. Its the L320, of course and I have been working on it, off and on, for about a year. One thing that I cant pin down in a rattling, almost jingling sound when i go over bumps. My question is: did your vehicle make that sound before you replaced these? I always push it to the back of my to-do list. Next up is the damn power steering pump but i have to try to get these replaced at the same time. I cant pinpoint that sound though. Any advice helps. NICE ROVER BRO!

    • @HazyJay
      @HazyJay  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My car did this when I bought it and it was the lower control arm bushings but that's more of a thunk noise from the front when going over bumps. Small noises are hard to pinpoint, you may be able to reproduce by rocking the suspension yourself from the front and seeing if you can localize the noise.

    Is this the reason why my rr sport makes a cracking sound when i turn the wheel. All the way left or right? Mainly when i hit reverse though or when im parked and turn it all the way left or right but not whil it’s on drive.

    • @ImagineRecordings
      @ImagineRecordings 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Without hearing the sound itself, it's tough to be sure, but based on what you've described it sounds like your CV joints. Search "CV joint sound" or "CV joint noise" here on TH-cam and you should be able to confirm whether your vehicle is making the same clicking/cracking. Bad CV joints have a distinct sound.

    • @HazyJay
      @HazyJay  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did this job a few years ago to resolve clunking, a link to a good video is attached below. Instead of replacing just the two bushings and the ball-joint you can save yourself a lot of turmoil by replacing the entire arm with a new one, if you have a machine press and jaw puller you may be able to get the bushings replaced though. One thing that will slow you down, make sure you have a heavy duty sockets and wrenches and cheater bars, rust penetration spray, and heat. The bolts are tough to remove here. The video below is for LR3 but the LR3 shares the chassis with the RRS for MY 2006-2009 at least. th-cam.com/video/WdVdR1XERyM/w-d-xo.html

    Hello there! I just had inner and outer tie rods replaced and my suspension control arm and ball joint (front and lower) repaired and a left front strut air bad replaced. Now I'm hearing the same noises before I had is fixed, it's not as bad as it was before. I hear it and feel it when I hit the brakes. Also, I hear a noise like there's a pan that's loose...Would you happen to know what those sounds and rattles may be? Thanks!

    • @HazyJay
      @HazyJay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's difficult to know since there's a few things that can make noise, but since it's probably not the lower control arms (since you just replaced these) it could be the sway bar bushings. Since it's when you brake the bolts holding something on may be loose (lower control arm bolts, skid plate bolts, etc.). I would lay under the car and have someone rock it side to side by hand and see if you can see what's making the noise.
