Anakin vs Obi-wan revenge of the sith deleted scene. Anakin asks obiwan for help.
The making of star wars revenge of the sith reveals a lot more about this brutal scene. More dialogue after obiwan defeated anakin was suppose to occur. And some of it was only muted so we can still see it. While sliding down the hill anakin reaches out his hand and You can see his mouth moving as if hes speaking, so what was he saying?
Help me, master!
Obiwans original reply of I love you, but I cant help you ended up being altered by George Lucas.
Lucas wanted to drive home the point that obi wan felt anakin was dead to him, (from a certain point of view) which is why the line was changed to be past tense. I loved you. But I could not help you.( i loved you)
It’s only then that Anakin’s eyes turn from blue to the Sith red - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน
I always swore I heard "help me" in the the theater
Hmm maybe another altered thing by Lucas..
I didn't watch it in theaters, but I could have sworn that I heard the full "Master, help me"
He changed it but some theaters had the original
That was the old man behind you choking on his popcorn.
Same thing with the originals trilogy when Luke was at Hoth I coulda swore he called out “Ben” 3 different times before Han appeared but when I look it up it’s only twice
"I hate you" is a powerful statement
He should've listen what Yoda said?
Yeah but he wasn’t just speaking to Oni-Wan, I feel like he was also speaking of Palpatine, of the Jedi order, of the life of slavery he was “rescued” from only to be used as a pawn by the Jedi council, etc. etc. and ultimately, “Vader” is speaking to Anakin himself, realizing that his mistrust and obsession with power had cost him everything he ever loved.
I feel like it was more of a “I hate everything” sentiment behind it
And powerful is the best thing a thing can be.
Hate is the path to the dark
Only if you give those words "power." Talk is cheap. Actions are whqt we are ultimately judged

His body and vocal chords were starting to burn and char so when he said it to Obi-Wan his voice sounds almost demonic…😢
would have been cooler if obi-wan lost to anakin here on the high ground, because the ground shifts below their feet. spiritual.
They should've kept this line. Or at least Anakin's line asking for help.
The fact that Obi-Wan not only didn't help but also rejected him and looked away would make Vader's absolute hatred of him later on much more understandable, as Obi-Wan's part in Vader's creation would have been that much clearer.
I understand why they cut it though. By having Anakin scream for help and Obi-Wan to outright refuse would have made Anakin too sympathetic and Obi-Wan look like a dick.
@thecarolinabull01 yeah. At the time Obi Wan would have to be obligated to help as Anakin was a literal cripple. So audience would definitely take offense to that.

A theory is that he tried calling for her but he couldn't say it properly and it came out as more of a whisper, because his vocal cords were burnt from him being on fire
Honestly the "help me master" is to clear to see that I always just interpreted in a matter of "he has no strength to speak it but he asks for help one last time".
As if it was the last attempt of anakin to speak and Vader would not let the voice come through.
The sith takeover is more about silencing the good in you as opposed to another persona essentially taking over, which is how they phrase it most of the times.

I believe if Qui Gon was training Anakin, he would never have gone to the dark side.
Doubtful, Qui-Gon probably could have had a more proper father role with Anakin but in the end the situation would have been the same.
@@zacharyradford5552I don’t think so. Qui-Gon would’ve been the perfect teacher for Anakin. You can see it in parts in the first Episode. An emotionally balanced Jedi Master who didn’t live to follow the Jedi Council but the will of the living force. A father figure to guide him on how to conquer his emotions was exactly what Anakin needed…Sidious knew this so he trained & sent Darth Maul to kill him. Maul nearly killed Obi-Wan too except for Obi-Wan is one of the greatest all-around Jedi in history & survived. “Obi-Wan is a great teacher. As wise as Master Windu, & as powerful as Master Yoda.” - Anakin, AOTC

@@Darkesstknight What lead to Anakin's downfall was the Jedi Council's refusal to help his mother. Corny af. Disney isn’t cannon. They’ve ruined Star Wars and our beloved characters.
I will agree that Disney screwed up SW past the point of return, but some things are pretty cool recently. All, in my mind, have to do with Vader.
And to the split personality thing, I think it’s entirely probable. If you say it’s not possible, then you’ve never heard of blackout rage. Vader kept himself alive on pure rage and hatred. When you are in a state of anger like that, you forget everything, and Vader was absolutely livid at this point.
Just my view. I hate the sequels, I completely agree there. Never saw the last one, and I never will. Only thing I’d ever consider watching from Disney is a Vader movie. However, I wouldn’t hold high hopes for it.

Bear in mind, a Sith would do such a thing as ask his former Jedi master for help, and strike him down once he lowers his guard. That Sith would say something like "His compassion was his weakness" as justification. Obi Wan would've known this. He would've known that Anakin had already given his heart to the dark side, and that a plea for help was not in fact the same as repentance. When Anakin says "I have to try" it may seem like a normal thing that Anakin would say, until you remember that the Jedi dont try, they do. Which makes this scene even more heartbreaking.
Obi Wan watched his friend and brother kneel before Sidious, he slaughtered Jedi, he killed younglings, he watched him choke his pregnant wife, and then Anakin used his hatred to try and kill him. Why would Obi Wan help him?
True
Because Anakin was dying, and it's his duty as a Jedi. Help him by saving his live and let him live as a cripple some place he could not hurt people (like some kind of prison or something like that) or kill him here and there, to stop the pain. Even if now, Anakin (well, Vader) is his enemy. Letting him burn alive for hours is just not human. And not the way of the Jedi.
But if Anakin dies to the fire (which I always assumed Obi Wan thought would happen) he doesn't have to be the one to kill Anakin. He may not be his brother anymore, but he still can't bring himself to kill Anakin. He never finds that strength, even with at least 2 more opportunities throughout his life. Instead he lets Anakin kill him in the end.
Pity, mercy, remorse, hope. We've been taught these are for the weak when the opposite is true. He truly failed Anakin as a Jedi

It also implies that he would’ve protected Anikan and Padme’s relationship, if Anikan had told him. Because he’s already broken the Jedi code and had an attachment to Anikan. Which would be a gut punch when Vader realize’s it.
Arguably Obi Wan did know about Anakin's relationship. Theres a scene in the clone wars show where he almost walks in on Anakin calling Padme and Captain Rex trys to cover for him by lieing and stopping Obi from going inside, but Obi simply says tell padmé i said hello and leaves. This implys that Obi isn't stupid and was aware of their relationship the entire time, he just cared for anakin and trusted him so ignored it.
@@gajilly Yoda also knew about their relationship and refused to try to bring it to an end. He concluded Anakin would almost certainly leave the Jedi order if anybody tried or succeeded at ending his relationship with her, and that it was something that made him happy and he needed it.
Anakin was always on the brink of caving to the dark side, he even taps into and uses it multiple times prior to his full acceptance of it, like when he used it to defeat Count Dooku on the invisible hand in Revenge of The Sith. Yoda knew this and wanted to do everything possible to prevent him from fully giving in to it, he wanted Anakin to use it as sparingly as possible and remain on the light side of the force, only drawing upon it for additional power when absolutely necessary, much like Mace Windu.

@@GyorBox ya hay razón más que suficiente, el era su maestro y la promesa que no pudo cumplir a Qui gon Jin
I posted this on an edit of this scene but I'll do it here, too.
A lot of people say that Anakin's "I hate you" sounded so real and genuine, but I never agreed. To me it always felt forced. At this point he still loved Obi-wan, you can see it in his face when Obi-wan is scolding him... "You were the Chosen one... destroy the sith not join it..." Watch his face closely in that scene. Anakin is regretful, sorrowful. He didnt hate Obi-wan but he hated what Obi-wan believed in, he hated the Jedi council, their code. It was this scene where we really see Obi-wan come out and truely express himself to Anakin, that they were brothers and did love each other. Thats why when Obi-wan leaves him to die does Anakin truely hate Obi-wan, as he was abandoned by everyone who ever loved him, betrayed. Obi-wan turned his back on Anakin when he needed Obi-wan most.
From that point of view when Vader says "I am what you made me" its way, way more impactful, because Vader is right. Obi-wan's abandonment is what pushed him over the edge to the dark side.
Which makes why he changed back to the light even more organic, because for the first time in his life somebody sought Anakin out to express love and compassion. What he had been chasing for so long, the one thing he really wanted. Acceptance.
Yeah, he was just pissed and in a lot of pain. He was still childlike. They were more like Father and Son, not brothers, though OW said that.
This is later confirmed by the fact that when he was wearing a helmet, he says: Padme help me. When Obi-wan gave up on him, he was looking for someone who loved him, Padme in this. She was the last person Anakin could hope for. But she died, too, so what happened happened.
I used a translator from Russian to English, sorry for the inaccuracies.
@jamesb8193 I've always looked at it as an older brother trying to fill the role of a father.
By all means, obi-wan failed him regardless.
But if he was never given the task of being Anikins master, he may not have ever turned.
Like OP stated. Everyone he ever loved and trusted was either taken from him or abandoned him. Turned their backs on him for various reasons. No WONDER he turned btw.
But Obi-Wans failure was exponentially more inpactful than the others. He couldn't stop seeing Ani as this child who wasn't ready. Much like someone who raised a child would feel, but they fight and bicker as brothers would.
His brother, mentor, father figure, friend.
Losing all of that in one go is enough to send most people over

@@RealComfyNerd H.I.G.H.G.R.O.U.N.D. !.!.!.
This is probably my favorite scene of any movie, so powerful.
I think the saddest part is these two super hero’s fighting all of a sudden ends with “I have the high ground”
Obi Wan should have saved Anakin and brought him back back to the light with Ahsoka. Padame would not die of sadness if Anakin hadn't gone dark.
If it hadn‘t been that the OG trilogy was shot before, it could probably have happened, but they weren‘t going to alter the story. What I could imagine though would be „What if?“ like with Marvel, but for Star Wars
@@drc6912Exactly. Eliminate Darth Vader altogether, and destroy all previous films in a series as they just become totally irrelevant.
Because of the original trilogy, Anakin's fate was always sealed. Even if it was out of character for Obi-Wan to just abandon him knowing that he should be saved, the original trilogy had to happen. Had Anakin been saved right then and there, there would be no OT in the way it was made. Anakin had to fully fall. He had to fully be abandoned by everyone. He had to become the near irredeemable Darth Vader that he ended up ultimately becoming. An alternate timeline as some of these other comments suggest would be absolutely goated though. I would love to see sidious suffer knowing that he lost his pride apprentice that he's groomed since a very young age.
@@steelrideproductions371 I know!!! But it's heart breaking and you can't blame me for wishing it was different. Hits even harder after Clone Wars!
@@irisflorals9561 No. I don't blame you. I fully sympathize with you. But that also further embodies the heart and soul of the prequel trilogy. It was always supposed to be heart-wrenching and full of decisions that we wish that we could have changed. We as the viewers don't know the internal clockwork of the events that the films stories portray. It's a lot more complicated than that. Put yourself in Obi-Wan's shoes, and you just watched Anakin, your former apprentice just slaughter all of your friends and the closest things that you had to family in the Jedi Temple. In your heart, you know what must be done. You might hesitate, which Obi-Wan technically did by not actually delivering a killing blow to Anakin on mustafar, but you feel betrayed. You do what you feel like you have to do. Now us the viewer don't know the depth of the emotions that the individual characters have, but we can speculate and we can also make fun theories and alternate timelines! That's the beauty about Star Wars. We can make fan fictions and it was heavily encouraged by George Lucas. A lot of fan made projects were actually made Canon in Legends. So why don't you go on and write a fanfic? Maybe an alternate story where Obi-Wan doesn't just leave Anakin? I would read it. I'm sure many of us would. If you were talented enough and had skilled friends who could act, you could even make a very compelling and story-driven fan series.
Except his eyes turned red much earlier in the film
Yeah when he's fully immersed or tapping into the dark side his eyes turn yellow.
I think it went back and forth throughout the fight but it's been years
It was blue during the whole fight
They were only red during his slaughter of the separatist leaders because he actually hated them. He didn’t have sith eyes at any other point because he didn’t want to kill the Jedi and only when he did Sidious rewarded him and allowed him to kill the people he wanted to kill for years. After he kills them his eyes turn back to blue and he cries as he regrets killing the Jedi and younglings. Even during Obis duel with him his eyes remain blue until this scene
when he wasnt conflicted between the light and darkside. the whole fight against Obiwan, Vader's eyes are blue,so he was conflicted/weakened but when Obiwan didnt help him, his conflict was gone for this moment because of his suffering and his hate for obiwan
"You were my brother Anakin, I *loved* you."
Almost always makes me cry
One of the best scenes I think in a movie so much emotion between the fight that was just had and his confusion on right and wrong and the eye color change 💯
I keep wondering what would've happened if he did help him out of there and helped him to keep the dark side at bay
Definitely should have left it in.
I loved you, you were like a brother to me Anakin.
They are so good at directing these movies!
He still could have been saved. If only he would have been loved at the last minute. That is truly heartbreaking.
I mean.. he just killed a bunch of kids.. I think that "Help me" ship sailed..
@Doggyps3 Oooooooo....ouch. I forgot about the kids. That ship did not just sail. That ship sunk. Lol.
@@Doggyps3Not just kids order 66 is partially his fault too he did help the emperor
I understand what Lucas may’ve been going for here but I think it was a smart choice omitting the extra dialogue. Anakin nearly killed all the Jedi and assaulted not only his master, but his own wife. He was too far gone to deserve any help, much less ask for it.
Actually, to me at least, it would make a whole lot of sense for Anakin to ask for help out of fear. You don't simply develop the character to go down with the consequences of your actions on the spot without significant impetus.
Obi Wan not helping him due to the things he has done, understandable and believable. And it gives further motive for Vader to hate him into the future, so it works.
I imagine a panicked and fearful "Help me, Master!" as he desperately tries to prevent himself from sliding into the lava. But Kenobi looks down, says "You were my brother Anakin. I loved you. But after what you have done, I can't help you.", then somberly walks away. Then Anakin would slide down further with a look of despair, and yell "I HATE YOU!' as he starts to catch fire.
As usual when no one objected George, we get what we got...
The fact that anakins eyes change first after being rejected is the truly sad part. Becouse it means that obi-wan in fact could still help him.
not first time, they had changed before temporarily during his earlier actions.
Best Trilogy
1st} Original trilogy
2nd} Prequel trilogy
I still dont consider the new trilogy as canon/// its a fanfic for me... :P
The new trilogy is absolute ass, completely ruined the story of star wars for me, I just pretend there are the original 6 movies.
They should have done 10,11,12 then did 7, 8, 9. That’s why they sucked.
@@donnyosrs8282 same
Anakin crashed out completely within the span of like 4 days 😂
Them nightmares being projected into his brain did him in cuh
I think that is somewhere similar to dookus exekution where they were both incapacitated and the old masters thought of no more use by kepping them alive
I am what u made me-vader
Anakin's eyes turned Sith red after he killed the Vice Roy, long before his fight with Obi one
Rewatch the movies man. They flicker in and out of sith yellow. Hell even in this short you see it happening come on now
Did you know that cutting off limbs is frowned upon by the Jedi order. Not killing your opponent immediately, thus allowing them to suffer, is considered to be dark.
So obi wan dipped into the dark side to beat his old padawan, damn

The thing that makes the scene more powerful is the thing that isn’t actually in the scene? Cool.
Yes
Warm
Sith eyes are yellow not red
They are yellow in the middle, but they have a red outer edge. And some sith eyes can have red around the pupil as well so either color is pretty interchangeable when talking about sith eyes.
I know it was set in stone that Vader was coming. But its crazy that Obi Wan wouldnt help him OR finish him off.
the line was 'You were my brother, Anakin! I loved you!'. I never heard what this says the line was.
With all he did, maybe it was here mercy, love and the knowledge that Padme was okay might have brought him back to the good side. He did horrible things out of fear of losing those he loved, like with his mom, but there was still good in Anakin.

Obi-Wan's mistake was not pushing Anakin into the Lava.
To borrow from another series:
"Do not be so quick to deal out death and judgement. Even the very wisest cannot see all ends."
Had he killed Vader, Palpatine would have never been stopped. Anakin needed to remain to fulfill the prophecy.
@@patjacksonpodiumnah cause luke would’ve been born so there’d be still be hope.
and much less jedi would’ve been wiped out due to the lack of vader
@@aidanmills6570 There's no way Luke takes out Palpatine. No chance. Especially when his training is as thrown together as it was. And for whatever it's worth, by the time of the Vader/Obi Wan duel, most of the Jedi who were gonna die in Order 66 were already dead.
Obi Wan killing Vader would have just ended up making it so The Chosen One would have been unable to fulfil the prophecy. Would have done nothing but make a bad situation worse.
@@patjacksonpodium Luke has literally been shown to surpass Palpatine bro.
I lost all respect for Obi Wan in this scene. First of all, he resorted to CHEATING in order to beat Anakin, pulling out that Sith inspired lightsaber strike. Not to mention butchering your opponent is expressly forbidden by the jedi, yet Kenobi is always doing it. Second, why didnt Kenobi finish him off? Or at LEAST pull him away from the lava. With limbs missing, Anakin was no longer a threat, so why add insult to injury and allow the lava to consume him? He had to know the lava wouldnt kill him, just add to his suffering. If Kenobi had either finished Anakin off, OR pulled him away from the lava, i would still have respect for him.
Because he couldn’t bring himself to kill his defenseless brother. Because the Jedi were all but extinct, so the rules were a bit gray at that point. It was literally kill or be slaughtered. You’ve never had to fight for your life and it shows.
He couldn't kill Anakin because it would have broken canon :P.
It was war, anakin became a very great threat and needed to be stopped at any means necessary. He was never going to stop hunting the jedi until there're all extinct.
Obi-Wan didn't even want to fight him, but he was left with no choice. There were only 2 master left at that point, and no other survivor jedi could have else gotten the job done except yoda or obi-wan.
The reason he didn't finish him off cuz he still loved him like a brother. He didn't wanted to kill him but he knew anakin had to be stopped. So he let fate decide if he live or die after severely injurying him.
Some may argue that if he did help him, he would not be Darth Vader after all.
The second Qui Gon died this was all destin to happen. No one on the council trusted Anakin from the beginning and Obi Wan was put into a bad spot having to train him so young. Obi Wan did the absolute best he could in training Anakin but the problem was Anakin needed a father figure - which was what Qui Gon was going to be. And when you look at what Anakin went through it’s hard to blame him for falling into Palpatines trap
I always loved how his eyes turned red in the same shot.
Funny enough, this line was actually included in the video game based on the movie
The lines "I am what you made me" and "Anakin is gone; I am what remains" now have so much more meaning.
With the excluded dialogue, you now see that it was the sense of abandonment (later interpreted as betrayal in his cognitive dissonance) that finally pushed Anakin over the edge to fully embrace the dark side.
This scene makes me cry everytime
