India is Bharat (this is what our constitution says). Netaji's INA had "India" in it, and I am sure that we can all agree that many soldiers had and continue to have that name in their hearts just as much as Bharat. The word Hindu and India are also closely related. The word "India" did not originate from the British. I don't think that many countries in the world have the privilege of having an entire ocean and a tectonic plate named after it. "India" was so influential that Native Americans are still called Indians by many.

@@ReldrikGeo Another tidbit: The Congress was in power for more than 60 years out of our recent 76 year independent history. End of 2014, after Congress administration, Indian economy was teetering yet again becoming part of Fragile Five economies, just like it happened during their regime in 1991, crisis after crisis, policy paralysis, hatred for Indian civilization, appeasing one particular group of people (Muslims) over everyone else and million other ways to undermine sovereignty and integrity of India. They are kicked out decisively in 2014, and we have no intention to bring them back. Communists, Islamists and Evangelists may want to bring back corruptible, pliable Congress to help with their agenda to bankrupt and balkanize India.
India today prefers stability both economic and security wise. We prefer growth, rejuvenation of civilizational ethos, to see our aspirations are truly met. So we bring BJP back, even if we have some complaints of BJP, we are pretty happy with them over all.
From Fragile Five to Top Five is the journey India made during BJP administration. The very fact that you are.preferring Indian viewership on Indian topics today, the fact that people are taking interest in India today is because of BJP.

      1. It's most certainly not a democracy.
      2. Institutional independence is still maintained. You wouldn't find the mainstream media soley praising one side and investigative agencies only focusing on the opposition.
Exaggerations can be harmful. I request you to read this:
'Mother of democracy? Ancient India offers no evidence'
      -The Telegraph
Please do keep in mind that the "democracies" and "republics" that are being promoted did not allow voting for being given a place in the assembly. Only a few powerful men went to the assembly, and then they took decisions. On the other hand, in Athens, every adult male Athenian citizen could vote. I don't know how one can call a framework the 'Mother of Democracy' if it doesn't allow any common person to either vote on the issues they care about or elect representatives who will act on their behalf. Of course, democracy is more than voting, but I don't believe that a democracy can exist without citizens having the right to vote.

The concept of the party symbol came into picture, because illiteracy in India was very high just after the independence from the British Empire.
Since the common people could not read, having candidate's name written would mean nothing. Hence the authorities came up with the idea to give a unique symbol to every party or candidate who is contesting without any party affiliation. That way candidates could tell even an illiterate person to vote for them, because even if they couldn't read, at least they could remember the symbol
Interesting Fact, the target of election authorities in India is to put polling booths in such a way that any citizen in the country wouldn't have to travel more than 1 kilometre of distance to vote.

He moved the Supreme Court (which is not appointed by politicians) against his arrest, but the court rejected his application and he is on judicial remand since prima facia there was a crime committed.
Now the freeze on Congress bank accounts. This has been happening since 2014 (if my memory stands correct). The money donated to any political party in India is free of Income Tax. But there is a catch to it. Each party has to file their returns each year on or before the deadline date and if any party fails to do so, they forfeit all the allowances and have to pay tax on that year's income. The Congress party failed to do so and penalties were imposed because of that. They paid some money in 2019 and refused to pay the rest. This freezing of the account is the culmination of those events.

8:15 It's pretty much similar to the US, just there are no electoral votes. That's because how the countries are formed. US formed based on the states (states have to protect their rights). Inda on the other hand, country first - states secondary. There is no "electoral" vote instead "representative" member votes for the district (constituency). So each party maintains overall number irrespective of which state they got it from. There is no concept of popular vote in India (as the elections are indirect not like US).

I’m pretty happy people are interested in how elections take place in India.
4:15 The “young” leader is Rahul Gandhi(close to 60years old) from Indian National Congress. He is the Great Grandson of India’s 1st PM(Jawaharlal Nehru) and Grandson of 4th PM of India(Indira Gandhi).
Their party has ruled for about 60-65 years of the 76 years of independence.
7:07 there are cases in past elections where one single constituency had more than 100 candidates.
8:33 We follow a similar system as the UK Parliamentary system. Therefore, there are 2 houses in the Parliament where 1 house is popular while the other comes from indirect elections. The Prime minister can come from either house but needs to show support in the popular house.
12:30 Yes. It is exactly the way u described it. Upon court’s order, Election Commission of India counted the printed receipts of 5 different places and it was perfectly fine. The funny thing is when the present ruling party was losing earlier, they too had challenged the EVM system.
14:59 BJP(Bharatiya Janata Party - Translation : Indian People Party) is the right wing party and Congress is centre-left or centre. The BJP is pushing the idea of development, poverty reduction and Uniform Civil Code(UCC) in this election. Congress is going for increasing Reservations for Minorities, ensure UCC does not come and Caste census to determine the reservation. [UCC is a directive principle of the constitution which aspires to make same laws for all citizens of the country. Presently, there are different personal Laws(relating to marriage, divorce, inheritance, etc.) which are based on Religion.]

Under the BJP, there have been many cases where the people who were about to be arrested for such crimes, they joined BJP and they were let scot-free . All of this is alleged but it seems that the Govt Agencies are targeting the opposition due which the ruling party is losing trust of the people. Such cases are not just during BJP rule. 39:07 India can have multiple political parties. The regional parties are those which fight elections for a particular state and only that state. To become a national party there are some conditions like fighting elections in multiple states, vote share, seat share, etc. Both the national parties and regional parties send their representatives to the Popular house.
There is no limit on the number of political parties in India.

The EVMs have a VVPAT (voter-verifiable paper audit trail) machine attached to them. The idea is that once you press the EVM button, a slip is shown on the VVPAT machine, and the voter can confirm the vote has gone to the right party. After 3-5 seconds, the VVPAT slip falls back into the machine, and these are collected afterwards.
Once the results are declared using the numbers on the EVMs, any candidates can challenge the findings for a few voting booths in their constituency, wherein a check is made between the EVM and the VVPAT slips. Moreover, if there is any mismatch between the EVM and VVPAT slip, the voter is encouraged to raise this at once, and voting is held at bay until this is checked.
If there are any mismatches, a re-election can be called in that constituency.

Its famous that when he left his Chief Minister (for US parlance it will be governor) residence for Prime Minister he gave away all his saving from CM salary to his official driver for his daughter's education. All his immediate family members still continue in their lower middle class lives. As a contrast in USA - Biden's son the one who takes cocaine is on Ukrainian company's board & of-course its harmless :) & Trump charged US agents staying on his Florida property while protecting him for free. I contrasted Biden & Trump to put perspective on Modi. He is a relentless hard worker, visionary and I joke he is the ultimate Project Manager. India follows Parliamentary democracy unlike US presidential democracy.
Whoever gets the highest votes in a constituency wins. Any party or alliance who win 272 seats forms the government. There is no concept of electroral votes.
There are 1000s of political parties. Anyone can fight election as independent. After getting a specific number of seats or vote share a party can get a dedicated symbol of their choice. No one else can use it. They will also get regional party status.
After winning seats in multiple states a party gets status of national party. There are 6 national parties. But in true sense only BJP and Congress have presence all over India.
Smaller parties can allign with any one or fight seperately. Its like smaller houses in GOT. They can switch alliance any time 😅
    Video talked about swing states.
For your understanding - If California is for blues and texas for reds, then Northern India is for BJP(Saffron) and Southern India is for Congress (Greens). Northern and western parts consists of 60% seats which is BJP stronghold.

It doesn't matter whether he is 54 or 60. Younger the leader, better will be the decisions; atleast we think like that. Problem with him is that his family's running this country since India got independence back in 1947 and he doesn't have a good past. He thinks himself as good, which ain't true. He is neither a good spokesperson nor can be trusted by taking strong decisions for Mother India. Modi's foreign policy is top notch. We haven't witnessed any like this before. Nobody was talking about India before Modi era. So, yeah Modi is better than opposition.

1 BJP - The relatively new nationalist party that focuses on culture and Dharmic civilization, & promises social progress , development & economic progress..
2 INC - The OG nationalist party that became Gandhian, then Fabián socialist(in 50s), then later infamous for minority appeasement, corruption & freezing democracy & now re-branded as the liberal left of India.
3 Swatantra party - now extinct was the libertarian party of India.
4 Communist party of India & Marxists.
5 Janata Dal - This was the social democratic party which split in to many regional parties ultimately . (Samaj vadi, Rastriya janata dal, Janata dal secular, Janta dal united, Biju Janata dal etc etc).
6 Janata Party - Led the mass movement against INC for freezing democracy . it split in to the above mentioned Janata Dal & BJP.
7 Shiv Sena - Maharashtrian Pride party
8 NCP - Split from INC accusing it of forgetting its original nationalist principle.
9 Dravida Parties of Tamil nadu - DMK, AiADMK etc their ideology is based on Tamil Nationalism & even separatism during its days of inception.
10 Trinamool Congress TMC - A personality cult like party that split away from INC in W Bengal. party became popular as its leader(a woman) was like a crusader against communists.
11 AAP one of the newest party in Indian politics. Was a one cause party of fighting corruption. Many suspects it was a western deep state project for regime change operation, paralleling colour revolutions.

Reserving seats means "Seats can be contested by Women only"
So pushing political parties to give chance to their women political workers and leaders (because their are limited seats, and for every seat there's multiple leaders managing different branches within one party, like Youth wing, women cell, student unions, labour unions etc)
