India is Bharat (this is what our constitution says). Netaji's INA had "India" in it, and I am sure that we can all agree that many soldiers had and continue to have that name in their hearts just as much as Bharat. The word Hindu and India are also closely related. The word "India" did not originate from the British. I don't think that many countries in the world have the privilege of having an entire ocean and a tectonic plate named after it. "India" was so influential that Native Americans are still called Indians by many.

@@ReldrikGeo Another tidbit: The Congress was in power for more than 60 years out of our recent 76 year independent history. End of 2014, after Congress administration, Indian economy was teetering yet again becoming part of Fragile Five economies, just like it happened during their regime in 1991, crisis after crisis, policy paralysis, hatred for Indian civilization, appeasing one particular group of people (Muslims) over everyone else and million other ways to undermine sovereignty and integrity of India. They are kicked out decisively in 2014, and we have no intention to bring them back. Communists, Islamists and Evangelists may want to bring back corruptible, pliable Congress to help with their agenda to bankrupt and balkanize India. India today prefers stability both economic and security wise. We prefer growth, rejuvenation of civilizational ethos, to see our aspirations are truly met. So we bring BJP back, even if we have some complaints of BJP, we are pretty happy with them over all. From Fragile Five to Top Five is the journey India made during BJP administration. I request you to read this: 'Mother of democracy? Ancient India offers no evidence' -The Telegraph Please do keep in mind that the "democracies" and "republics" that are being promoted did not allow voting for being given a place in the assembly. Only a few powerful men went to the assembly, and then they took decisions. On the other hand, in Athens, every adult male Athenian citizen could vote. I don't know how one can call a framework the 'Mother of Democracy' if it doesn't allow any common person to either vote on the issues they care about or elect representatives who will act on their behalf. Of course, democracy is more than voting, but I don't believe that a democracy can exist without citizens having the right to vote.

The concept of the party symbol came into picture, because illiteracy in India was very high just after the independence from the British Empire. Since the common people could not read, having candidate's name written would mean nothing. Hence the authorities came up with the idea to give a unique symbol to every party or candidate who is contesting without any party affiliation. That way candidates could tell even an illiterate person to vote for them, because even if they couldn't read, at least they could remember the symbol Interesting Fact, the target of election authorities in India is to put polling booths in such a way that any citizen in the country wouldn't have to travel more than 1 kilometre of distance to vote.

8:15 It's pretty much similar to the US, just there are no electoral votes. That's because how the countries are formed. US formed based on the states (states have to protect their rights). Inda on the other hand, country first - states secondary. There is no "electoral" vote instead "representative" member votes for the district (constituency). So each party maintains overall number irrespective of which state they got it from. There is no concept of popular vote in India (as the elections are indirect not like US).
I’m pretty happy people are interested in how elections take place in India. 4:15 The “young” leader is Rahul Gandhi(close to 60years old) from Indian National Congress. He is the Great Grandson of India’s 1st PM(Jawaharlal Nehru) and Grandson of 4th PM of India(Indira Gandhi). Their party has ruled for about 60-65 years of the 76 years of independence. 7:07 there are cases in past elections where one single constituency had more than 100 candidates. 8:33 We follow a similar system as the UK Parliamentary system. Therefore, there are 2 houses in the Parliament where 1 house is popular while the other comes from indirect elections. The Prime minister can come from either house but needs to show support in the popular house. 12:30 Yes. It is exactly the way u described it. Upon court’s order, Election Commission of India counted the printed receipts of 5 different places and it was perfectly fine. The funny thing is when the present ruling party was losing earlier, they too had challenged the EVM system. 14:59 BJP(Bharatiya Janata Party - Translation : Indian People Party) is the right wing party and Congress is centre-left or centre. The BJP is pushing the idea of development, poverty reduction and Uniform Civil Code(UCC) in this election. Congress is going for increasing Reservations for Minorities, ensure UCC does not come and Caste census to determine the reservation. [UCC is a directive principle of the constitution which aspires to make same laws for all citizens of the country. Presently, there are different personal Laws(relating to marriage, divorce, inheritance, etc.) which are based on Religion.]

Generally, most ruling parties have shown such behaviour showing a darker side of Indian elections.
39:07 India can have multiple political parties. The regional parties are those which fight elections for a particular state and only that state. To become a national party there are some conditions like fighting elections in multiple states, vote share, seat share, etc. Both the national parties and regional parties send their representatives to the Popular house. The EVMs have a VVPAT (voter-verifiable paper audit trail) machine attached to them. The idea is that once you press the EVM button, a slip is shown on the VVPAT machine, and the voter can confirm the vote has gone to the right party. After 3-5 seconds, the VVPAT slip falls back into the machine, and these are collected afterwards. Once the results are declared using the numbers on the EVMs, any candidates can challenge the findings for a few voting booths in their constituency, wherein a check is made between the EVM and the VVPAT slips. Moreover, if there is any mismatch between the EVM and VVPAT slip, the voter is encouraged to raise this at once, and voting is held at bay until this is checked. If there are any mismatches, a re-election can be called in that constituency.

This Modi is a remarkable person. A son of a day laborer who worked his way up from literally from ground zero to very top echelon of India and World politics. His integrity is impeccable. Its famous that when he left his Chief Minister (for US parlance it will be governor) residence for Prime Minister he gave away all his saving from CM salary to his official driver for his daughter's education. All his immediate family members still continue in their lower middle class lives. As a contrast in USA - Biden's son the one who takes cocaine is on Ukrainian company's board & of-course its harmless :) & Trump charged US agents staying on his Florida property while protecting him for free. India follows Parliamentary democracy unlike US presidential democracy. Whoever gets the highest votes in a constituency wins. Any party or alliance who win 272 seats forms the government. There is no concept of electroral votes. There are 1000s of political parties. Anyone can fight election as independent. After getting a specific number of seats or vote share a party can get a dedicated symbol of their choice. No one else can use it. They will also get regional party status. After winning seats in multiple states a party gets status of national party. There are 6 national parties. But in true sense only BJP and Congress have presence all over India. Smaller parties can allign with any one or fight seperately. Its like smaller houses in GOT. They can switch alliance any time 😅 Video talked about swing states. For your understanding - If California is for blues and texas for reds, then Northern India is for BJP(Saffron) and Southern India is for Congress (Greens). Northern and western parts consists of 60% seats which is BJP stronghold.

It doesn't matter whether he is 54 or 60. Younger the leader, better will be the decisions; atleast we think like that. Problem with him is that his family's running this country since India got independence back in 1947 and he doesn't have a good past. He thinks himself as good, which ain't true. Please do keep in mind that the "democracies" and "republics" that are being promoted did not allow voting for being given a place in the assembly.
21:38 basically each person gets to be in the council of States for 6 years such that every 2 years 1/3 would retire. The council of states is a permanent house and is never fully dissolved unlike the Popular house.
23:43 Indian constitution Article 1 gives 2 names to India. One is of course “India” and the other is “Bharat”. Bharat is the local name of India like Deutschland is for Germany. So India:Indian::Bharat:Baratiya
28:34 This is stated as one of the reasons of building the new Parliament as the old one could not accommodate more members. Also, newer technology for voting during legislation was also added to the new parliament to ensure better and faster service.
35:21 This is a big controversy that has erupted just before the elections and are bound to have effect on them. There is alleged corruption by the sitting Chief Minister of NCT of New Delhi and his finances would remain frozen until proven innocent.
Under the BJP, there have been many cases where the people who were about to be arrested for such crimes, they joined BJP and they were let scot-free . All of this is alleged but it seems that the Govt Agencies are targeting the opposition due which the ruling party is losing trust of the people. Such cases are not just during BJP rule.
There is no limit on the number of political parties in India.
This would help: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_political_parties_in_India
3:58 Winnie-the-Pooh
Bharatiya Janata Party 🎉🎉
it much like 5000 candidates. There are total 543 seats for candidature and every seat has on an avg 5 to 10 candidates, so I dont see how can it be just 1000 candidates
4:40 Even though Rahul looks young he is the most out of touch politician. He's like 3 times Justin Trudeau. His great grand father, grandmother, father all were Prime Ministers for multiple times (you can see them around 5:25 ). Their party doesn't have internal democracy.
27:31 I don't think they are cropping the sides. Those videos are portrait mode not landscape. So it is blurred in unused screen
BJP is going win they do great job and they are not going anywhere. just because the opposition have no real chance of winning they have started new nonsence of saving democracy . and I also don't believe the get 400 set , it will be higher than before .
Love from India brother ❤ come to visit vrindavan whenever you get time
25:58, exactly what I say. Unfortunately, reservation is a very common thing in India. The public sector jobs are reserved for 60% of peoples ( in different groups). and yes, people get job even for scoring far less marks in an exam than someone who does not have any reservation, which leads to poor quality of public servants. it's pathetic and so why I moved abroad :(
Forget about 1/3 women reserve in Parliament, It looks much fair compared to the Congress promise of 50% govt job reserved for women.
31:30 To know what they were talking about you need to know about the electoral bond scheme and PMLA (Prevention of money laundering act). Under PMLA the ruling central govt has special powers. 35:05 Most top opposition party leaders are either arrested or have cases running on them. 39:50 We understand what you meant and there are so many Indian languages and dialects and despite that we understand what you say, so what difference does it make? Language is all about communication and it is difficult when it isn't your mother tongue. We get what you mean. Please review videos from Dhruv Rathee on the Indian political situation to get a more holistic view.
Tatti gangs
aghh finally someone commented about these problems
They said Congress Party because Head of Congress party is always a Gandhi family member.. Nepotism.. Family party.. that's why they didn't say "Rahul Gandhi" specially
Congress = Gandhi Family
I contrasted Biden & Trump to put perspective on Modi. He is a relentless hard worker, visionary and I joke he is the ultimate Project Manager. Such a man comes along in a hundred years and India is lucky he was born in India.
Rahul Gandhi the opposition leader is just a joker. He is not capable of a $300 job on his own. He is just here because of his political dynasty family. I already voted for modi. 400✌️
12:49 yes, it's that simple... people just need something to blame when they lose.
11:45 There's a very good practical example i forgot his name but he was losing behind in the initial counting so he make a lot of noise that there's something wrong but when the goes on and he actually won then he didn't say anything and left
i think it electoral voting machine
11:46 he is Rahul Gandhi son of former PM of India Indira Gandhi but we lovingly call him “Pappu” 😊
Tbh they have sheer number of people to process . Even at 66% percent there are processing so many people for voting.
Yeah it's an astronomical amount
They can switch alliance any time 😅
Video talked about swing states.
For your understanding - If California is for blues and texas for reds, then Northern India is for BJP(Saffron) and Southern India is for Congress (Greens). Northern and western parts consists of 60% seats which is BJP stronghold.
With a number of checks in front of all the representatives of candidates, it is impossible to tamper EVMs in India.
I was many times in charge of polling booths.
Sri Modiji will win. Believe me. If not, I will come down to your channel and pay you 10$. I live in Dallas. You can track me if I don’t live up to my claim and sue me on this comment. It’s that intense bro.
I think she’s wrong about the number of candidates contesting in the elections. For 545 seats in the lok sabha, can there be on an average only two candidates per seat?
Yeah I don't know much but I think that number is incorrect just based off of other comments here
@@ReldrikGeoTheres currently 2803 candidates contesting this elections to be precise
It is 7 phases because elctions are held to be on holidays only and holding elections in country like India is not as easy as america
It doesn't matter whether he is 54 or 60. Younger the leader, better will be the decisions; atleast we think like that. Problem with him is that his family's running this country since India got independence back in 1947 and he doesn't have a good past. He thinks himself as good, which ain't true. He is neither a good spokesperson nor can be trusted by taking strong decisions for Mother India. Modi's foreign policy is top notch. We haven't witnessed any like this before. Nobody was talking about India before Modi era. So, yeah Modi is better than opposition.
many people in india argue USA is not proper democracy, it's two party system, democracy is supposed to representing all opinions and there are always more opinions than just 2, world is not black and white, there are more colors... you can create your own party if you want in india based on your ideology, there could be party of scientists only or doctors only, i doubt if people will vote for doctors and scientists but you can create party like a folder in computer is what matters...
There are multiple parties in the US, they are just far too small to make any difference
@@ReldrikGeo what? I don't think so, USA is 2 party system democracy, in 2 party system there are only 2 parties in all 3 levels of government...
Bro I am literally part of the Forward Party here in the US 💀
Also the Libertarian Party is probably the most popular party aside from Democrats and Republicans
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_party_(U.S._politics)
@@ReldrikGeo these parties are national parties? just like democrats and republicians? because i literally studied there's left wing or right wing, nothing else in 2 party system, it's a system... they taught us this in school, i wanna know if it's wrong...
There is a great vid on overview of Indian politics and philosophy and histories of diff parties in India by J.J. McCullough called "How Indian Politics Works (i think)" u should deff check that out...
BJP is shown as Right wing party but according to me it should be at Centre Right and Indian National Congress should be considered as left. While the parties supporting BJP are more Centerist or right wing where as parties supporting INC are more leftist even communists.
It’s funny how she translated from English to English
Congress hasn't paid taxes in 5 years ... govt takes away two months of my salary as tax every year, why should they be spared?
Wait really?
@@ReldrikGeo yeah, they did recieved many warning form Income Tax department since 2019. They thought that they will win and remove the law on cap or make a law that gives freedom to them for not paying taxes.
Yes, You've been saying it incorrectly.. It's not KARNA - TAKA, It actually is pronounced as KAR - NATAKA.
I will say it correctly going forward
@@ReldrikGeofurther scope of split in pronunciation would be Kar- na- taka
That's actually wrong he's not the first sitting chief minister of India to be arrested
Billion dollar expend in ellection but not budget on ellection in india
The host has understood the aspect about 33% reservations for women. It means that 33% of seats will be reserved for women from opposing parties to contest and win those seats.
1 BJP - The relatively new nationalist party that focuses on culture and Dharmic civilization, & promises social progress , development & economic progress..
2 INC - The OG nationalist party that became Gandhian, then Fabián socialist(in 50s), then later infamous for minority appeasement, corruption & freezing democracy & now re-branded as the liberal left of India.
3 Swatantra party - now extinct was the libertarian party of India.
4 Communist party of India & Marxists.
5 Janata Dal - This was the social democratic party which split in to many regional parties ultimately . (Samaj vadi, Rastriya janata dal, Janata dal secular, Janta dal united, Biju Janata dal etc etc).
6 Janata Party - Led the mass movement against INC for freezing democracy . it split in to the above mentioned Janata Dal & BJP.
7 Shiv Sena - Maharashtrian Pride party
8 NCP - Split from INC accusing it of forgetting its original nationalist principle.
9 Dravida Parties of Tamil nadu - DMK, AiADMK etc their ideology is based on Tamil Nationalism & even separatism during its days of inception.
10 Trinamool Congress TMC - A personality cult like party that split away from INC in W Bengal. party became popular as its leader(a woman) was like a crusader against communists.
11 AAP one of the newest party in Indian politics. Was a one cause party of fighting corruption. Many suspects it was a western deep state project for regime change operation, paralleling colour revolutions.
also dmk stand for dalit rights and human right
It says more than thousand not a thousand. In some areas there are 15+ candidates fighting for one seat, some seats are won unopposed cause lack of multiple political presence. But I think on average there should be 5-6 candidates per seat.
39:03 there are more than 2000 political parties
So many
BJP have future planned Prime minister for 2029, 2034 and 2037 like Yogi Adityanath , K. Annamalai. But opposition party hasn't decided their prime ministerial candidate yet because they dont have confidence to win this elections. Thats why people love Modi and BJP
Modi is the bosssssssss 💪🇮🇳
Reserving seats here it means, from while Nation one third candidates should be women's
Do not form your opinion on Indian elections based on the opinions of Western press. Go there and experience your self. It is more complex for westerners particularly arm chair commentators to understand.
You click on the evm and the party symbal reflects for a secand on another screen to show that you have clicked for your desired party for example when you type a passward and its hidden but when you write it for one secand you can see which letter you have pressed
@Reldrik Geo :- why they not calling his name?
Because he is Star campanier for BJP(Ruling party).........🤣He single handley bring down opposition(INC) to its lowest......
Hands down Modi is going to win 2024….it will be a clean sweep for BJP
400+ 👍🇮🇳
14:39 Because he's(rahul gandhi) not declared candidate for prime minister post by congress (unofficially- he's the prime minister candidate but very Immature but he's son of ex-primeminister)
Opp bank account freezing is a misnomer , cz of tax dispute and money laundering probe , the IT froze certain disputed amount in the bank account. Ofc it will be used to gain sympathy.
3:08 did you call biden ancient 😂
He is 81, that's pretty old. I would want our leaders to be a bit younger than that
@@ReldrikGeo insight: modi will also contest for nxt prime minnister after wining this election for 5 years and retire mid way to project new PM face.
Is there no term limits for Prime Minister in India?
@@ReldrikGeo nope
But as per BJP's internal policies no party member can hold office after age of 75 years, they have to retire. So Modi probably won't contest the next election
Reserving seats means "Seats can be contested by Women only"
So pushing political parties to give chance to their women political workers and leaders (because their are limited seats, and for every seat there's multiple leaders managing different branches within one party, like Youth wing, women cell, student unions, labour unions etc)
