IMPORTANT TIP: the goretex on these shoes can get leaky, best to give it some TLC and check how far the shoes can still go! Swiss Army using the Menidl GTX in light and heavy insulation now; instead of fixing the soles (easily be done), they retire the shoes and replace them. There are some soldiers giving the old ones back (instead buying them for a symbolic price), so the swiss army liq-shops sometimes have surplus-"Kampfstiefel 19"-boots. Gotten me some "Kampfstiefel 14" (the AKS ones) almost out of couriosity, they're not bad in summer and dry weather, but as someone needing "wide" shoes (not the normal width) i'm not too happy with it, and i already went 1,5 sizes up. I end up using my old Minerva KS90 more often, eventhough they start reaching their end-of-life - but after 24 years of regular (in army: daily) use, they earned it.. (so i guess i'm on the prowl for the KS19 in size 45,5 then, going 2 sizes up this time ;)
Wooly have you seen/heard of the YDS FALCOR boots? I picked up a pair just over a year ago and they are fantastic. I was thinking of the toe end which is really good and would be great for you and your kneeling to teach position. I love them so comfy and very supportive around the ankle.
