I was extremely lucky this week to find some german para boots on a forces uniform and kit website. I havent been able to find them in my size for years but was absolutely stoked to get some grade 1s for 46 quid delivered, they were so good I ordered a second pair. each boot weighs 1KG yet they remain soft and comfortable while keeping every single bit of crap out with the stitched tongue. The best bit is the hooked lacing, it leaves the boot so open I can slip them on without even bending down. hope you and Bruno are doing ok.
Thx Woolly just after I send for the special forces ones you make a comparison video 😂. But I am looking forward to the SF black shoes as you have worn them for so long and you still say they are comfortable I will update when mine arrive later this week. Oh and Bruno is a fantastic helper 👍
I have the Meindl Desert Defence without GTX and they look pretty similar to the MD Rock. I also put two insoles in the boots with one insole per boot my feet felt weird, I did the same trick with the sizing I purchase half size over 44,5 > 45 and fit is perfect specially when walking down hill my toes never hit get cramped or hot against the inner walls of the boots.
Isn't the black one from Meindl, too? (just for Winter/Wet-Weather instead the lighter-version for desert?) And i completly understand the care for nubuk/cordura/... contrary to leather.
The problem i have is the toe box on most boots are to narrow and squish Your toes together which give you bunions han wag boots do this they are the worst their wide boots are wide through the whole boot but not the toe box Han wag is clueless how feet are naturally wide toe box Vivo tracker fg are awesome for that
@@RedBranchBushcraft thats a shame I love the haix from that year especially once you’ve broke them in. My go to now are still my altbergs, I’ve had poor experiences from lowa boots with the sole breaking down. Might have to give Meindl a further look. Hope you & your family are keeping well.
btw - how can you get german (!) army-boots for so low? i checked recently and all i find are 100plus and these were the old ones (without cushinoing/goretex)..?
@@RedBranchBushcraftfound them there, too - wonder why the 70£-offers are all from the UK (with 29punds shipping tand custom-fees in CH), while german sellers ask for 120+ for these things (excl. shipping)
@@RedBranchBushcraft yeah - the "KS schwer" (Meindl (i believe), new combat-boot heavy (for winter) costs NEW 199 chf (that's about the amount incl. taxes i'd have to pay for the surplus)

The toe bok looks quite wide on the MD boots, and I understand what you mean, Merrell I find have the best toe box without going barefoot
We have the meindl kampfshuh (md rock)in the dutch army/MP. Great boots!
Excellent stuff, I'm going to try and pick up a pair myself
Ja es sind gute Schuhe...jeden Euro wert!
What ever happened to your haix high liability and haix cold wet weather boots ?
I sold them on years ago, I like testing boots so I generally only keep them a few years or months if I don't like them
