Yay, I've caught up with you all the Vlogs now. 🤗 I clearly wasn't in as much of a hurry as that boat, hope they didn't damage any nests in the reeds. Good job on the canopy, it's all clean & weatherproofed ready for Winter now. Loverly. Blakemere Lake looks Absolutely gorgeous. Loving your vlogs, & you'll be at 10,000 before you know it. TFS, & take care you 3. 👍🐶
Lovely to meet you too and chat with you. We were gutted to have missed you on The Golly by a few days, would have been lovely to have gone for a drink. Hopefully another time. Enjoy your winter on the Llangollen 😊
Very impressed with your restrained language with the other boater! Hopefully they had a messy weed hatch to clean out later. Thanks guys love your vlogs x
Fab vlog as always. Not sure if you are aware but on the LLangollen its polite ettiquette to give way to boats coming down stream as the hire boat was as its easier to stop going when going upstream. The hire boat did a pretty good job of avoiding you and was probably told to give way when going up stream so didn't expect you to keep going. that said you did a really good job of dealing with the situation, well done both.
Didn't actually know about giving way to boats coming down stream but on this occasion we were already going through the narrowed section before the boat came round the bend, he had opportunity to slow at least and space to allow us to continue coming through before continuing we couldn't exactly reverse to give him any sort of priority if that makes sense 😊
Hi Liz and Paul. I was watching the motor home and caravan show at Birmingham and one stall had a bag which you put your mucky dog in to clean , so you don’t dirty your boat. Nice to watch you guys again Bob
Ooooh this sounds interesting Bob. I've seen the mud daddy water hose things but not seen a bag..I'm going to have a little scroll on the Internet now 😉😃
In 1976 Whitchurch marina (Bridge Cruisers had about two hireboats. The lift bridges had a piece of rope which you swung on to open and we had a great time just like you are 😊Nice to see a waterproofing product that works.👍
Hi Anthony, nice to hear your memories of this area. As for the waterproofing, I think we need a bit more of that but the wet and forget cleaner definitely did its job, and we were pleased with the results and how quick it cleaned up. Thanks for joining us again this week. 😀
Great to see you guys enjoying the Llangollen canal! Many of my favorite vloggers love it and return to it this time of the year to enjoy the beautiful scenery and villages and pubs. I’m sure you’ll bump into them! Have z wonderful explore with Captain Erns! Also great to see Paul working tirelessly on the covers, this must have taken him days!😅 Now your art room is starting to look much better! 😊❤🎉
Hi Eric, yes we've seen a few vloggers and of course enjoyed a little drink with them 😉 The covers came up really good didn't they, it only took Paul a short amount of time to spray the stuff on and then you just leave it, no scrubbing or anything it works on its own. Its fab stuff 😊
So very enjoyable, love the music you appear to have found, so suitable for your show. Wonderful scenery captured in what appears a lovely area of our country.. As always looking forward to the next show, terrible wishing time away!

What a beautiful video. Scenery was amazing. You wouldn't think it was autumn. There is no doubt. Every situation, good or bad. Paul always has a laugh. This is why I love your vids so much. Geoff from Australia.
Good night Ernie and Liz and Paul I love watching your you tube videos on your you tube channel I hope that every one is well and enjoying your adventures on board your narrow boat shame about the weather for you hows is Ernie is he enjoying him self on the narrow boat
Lovely shot of you all with Blake Mere in the background. What a beautiful part of the world! Can't wait to see where you go next week. Thanks again guys.
Beautiful Blake Mere and lots more beautiful parts to show in the next couple of vlogs, it really is a stunning canal. Thanks so much for joining us again 😊
Thank you Paul & Liz, I was very good a manovering and steering our holiday boat, I can come to a stop and hold my position, maneuver in reverse, I'm very good at it for a holiday boater if I can say that about myself, slow speed is your friend or it can all go pear shape. I've been on so many boats now and they say (our livaboard friends) they we do more distance in a fortnight than they do in a year😂 We love rain or shine. Next year we're looking to hire an owners boat while they go off on holiday, I suppose it pays for their holiday really but you do get companies that do that sort of thing. Paul's right, regardless of sun or rain you can't stop or you'll get back to late,,, Sorry for rambling on this week, waffle waffle waffle,, trying to make up for missing a comment from last weeks video. We want to see more of your art work Liz 🎨 Looking forward to next week.
Your comment was missed last week Gary 😉 glad you're commenting this week...we've met a lot of hire boaters and most are extremely good at controlling boats..like you said, if you've done it a few times for a few years you've probably done more hours at the tiller than some live aboards. Great idea to hire someone's boat while they are on holiday, hope they've checked that their insurance covers them though for that as I know there are stipulations. On our insurance it's me and Paul that are covered not the boat as such so maybe worth checking that with them just to be safe. More artwork....well I do have quite a large project on the go as I type this..but unfortunately it won't be in a vlog until about 5 weeks' time as we are quite ahead in real time 😀
You moored in the same spot as us again!! That lovely spot this side of Welshamptom is within feet of where we moored on the way up. I noticed and I'm not suprised you edited my comment out thqt i shouted across when we met. Probably best!!🤣🤣🤣
How funny that we moored up in the same spot again. 🤣 I didn't edit anything out I don't think the speaker picked it up which is funny...as all you hear me say is 'show off' in response to you beeping your horn 🤣😄
Evening guys another enjoyable vlog😊. Nice to see you enjoying the Llangollen canal its a canal that doesn't seem to get much coverage in my view, but so far you are doing it justice at the journey's end its beautiful and a walkers paradise.
Honestly Simon, it's the nicest canal that we have done to date..it just gets better and better the nearer you get to Llangollen. Its truly beautiful. Hope you and Earl are good 😄
@uponreflection yes we are fine thanks 🙂 At home for a few weeks as boat went in today for Blacking so decided it would be too much to keep the animals on board while it was being done, also hopefully going to visit my daughter while l have the chance. X
Hi guys, Great talking to you Paul a few days ago. Thanks for the Vlogs. I was thinking about mooring where you did, but as you moved on due to no signal, I think I will stop that as well, lol, keep up the good work, Shaun NB Remembrance
Hi Shaun, great chatting with you too..we were using Three and signal not great but we then got an O2 chip to use in emergencies and those seemed better Ron the Llangollen so depending on who you are with you may get signal in that mooring 😃
Love watching your videos, always have a good chuckle of your banter and shenanigans. Thank you for sharing. ATB. Take care and stay safe. This of course includes Ernie. 😊 X
Hi you three! To be fair the Golly gets battered with hire boats all year round. With limited tuition, they probably didn't know what they were supposed to do in that situation. A seasoned boater would never have gone into the reeds. Those canopies came up a treat :) Don't use chemicals on the windows of em some chems eat into the polymer just use soapy water. Yup it's that time of the year were ya wellies get a good workout. You missed the autumn colours by about two weeks I reckon? Blakemere is so beautiful at everytime of year. Love sitting there with a coffee and a butty ( and cake ) just watching the world go by :) Ernie looks like he was on a sugar rush lol Enjoy every minute of your vlogs guys can't wait to see you on the rest of the Golly. Stay safe winds are gonna turn bandit :)
We were over the moon with how good the Canopies came up, didn't expect it to work that fast. Good tip with the windows, we just let the rain wash them 🤣 Yep..wellies get a work out this time of year and so do I getting the bloody things off 🤣 I think you're right with the autumn colours..about 2 weeks too early unfortunately but what a stunning canal nevertheless. I love it 😊
Hey Guys 👋 Great vlog ❤ That last spot at Blake Mere was beautiful I would have been tempted to stop there for a few days if you were allowed to. Have a blessed week 🙏
Another great vlog, you guys! One thing I’ve noticed is that it might behoove me (once I’m over there and actually narrowboating - I’m a Yank with British citizenship by descent) to plan my route that puts me in the (traditionally) warmer areas of Britain in the winter and spring months, and the (traditionally) colder or more wet areas of Britain in the summer and fall months. Now, it’s not lost on me that you’re on the Llangollen in fall and it’s been yucky wet, but it’s something I think is worth a go. Wales in the summer, southern and eastern sections of the canal system in winter and spring, and so on and so forth. Although the busiest canal in the summer months is why I’m guessing constant cruisers avoid it. All good in theory, lol…. I guess global warming will keep us all on our toes! Hoping it gets less wet for you both! You’re always such a pleasure to watch!
Hi there, unfortunately with the UK you can't guarantee any weather anywhere. South, which is typically warmer than the North had storms that the North didn't get, the North has seemed slightly wetter than the south but to be fair there isn't much in it. Maybe a few degrees warmer in the south but then again the North also has the odd warmer day too. It's a hard one to judge. We have always been advised to avoid The Llangollen Canal in the summer months because it gets extremely busy also some canals are known to be shallow so they would also become worse in summer months if that makes sense. I think it's best to plan rivers for summer and the canals for autumn winter due to flooding etc A lot of people choose the Llangollen for winter as it has a flow on it which means it rarely freezes over. 😊
Hi Andy, lovely meeting you too. Hope you enjoy the Llangollen. Not sure if we are going to Crick this year yet but hopefully see you again one day on the cut 😄
Another great video,I’m hoping to get to Llangollen this weekend lovely little town never know might even catch sight of you we will be having a walk to the horseshoe Falls
Llangollen is beautiful isn't it. We are a few weeks ahead of our vlogs in real time so we aren't actually on the Llangollen Canal anymore, we came off of it last week. 😊
I hope you get to 10K subscribers sooner rather than later. Either way, I have no doubt you'll get there and more. Oh, I wanted to ask if you guys had been contacted by the TV people (Channel 4 or something?) about being part of their show, documentary or whatever it is? Would probably be a big boost for the channel.... 🤷♂ Thank for another one. Take care.
Hi Roger, yes channel 4 did contact us and ask if we would like to be on their next season of Narrow Escapes. We did think about it but we decided against at this time as we thought it might be a bit too tricky for Ernie to have all camera men on the boat. 😀
@@uponreflection hello paul liz im working 9 hours friday 3 hours one house 6 hours the other i have worked 2 jobs today oh by the way your both looking well bless ya xx
*Morena Liz, Paul & Ernie 🙂Gosh some people are always in such a rush... doing 5km per hour compared to you going 2km per hour! I mean to say what is that about aye!! Slow down and enjoy the countryside... cos isn't that why people own narrowboats to relax and enjoy the slower pace in life. Anyways, I am so pleased that Paul saved Ernie's bed and mattress from floating down the canal. Wow Blake Mere looked awesome.🙂 So the 'Wet & Forget' products that you used did a grand job on your awnings. 🙂 Did you know that it is a Kiwi made product.?🙂nz*
Well well well I didn't know that it was a New Zealand product...it works a treat so well done to New Zealand 😀 The boat that sped through the reeds and scrapped the side of our boat was a holiday boat so I guess they don't care for the boat as their home as we do ours. Blake Mere was stunning wasn't it..and as our friends told us the canal just gets better and better as you travel further into Wales..beautiful, looking forward to you seeing the next few videos. 😄
Hi Liz, Paul and Captain Ernie, No words to describe Blake Mere. Thank you for finishing off the vlog with such a magnificent view. The view being you, Paul and Captain Ernie with Blake Mere in the background. Liz which internet service provider do you use and do you find it reliable for most of the areas you three have traveled through? Another question, if you have time. If you were to move off the CRT canals for say a day or two would you need to pay another fee to that canal management company or would your membership with the CRT cover you? Mark Alberta, Canada
Hi Mark. We use Three for our Internet provided..its OK but when it's weak signal its really weak so we have since got an O2 sim too which we swap over to when three doesn't work and so far we've succeeded by doing that...we definitely needed O2 on the Llangollen and oxford South as Three is really bad. As for other waterways you can get a Gold CRT licence which is more expensive and covers others waters such as Evironmental Agency covering the River Thames, river Nene etc or you can pay for a duration of time that you intend to go on the different waters before you intend to go on them. Hope that makes sense. 😃
It does, many thanks. I haven't heard anyone speak on either subject. You three take care of yourselves and I'll be here next week. Mark Alberta, Canada@@uponreflection
Hi Debbie. Type 'wet and forget' into Google and it should come up. It's this one that we used ....Wet & Forget Mould, Lichen & Algae Remover, Outdoor Cleaning Solution, Black Mould Remover, Bleach Free, 2 Litre. You have to water it down. Then to waterproof it again we used fabsil universal protector. 😀
You might have said this before but which mobile provider do you use for you router and do you have a different one on at least one of your phones. Thanks for the vid.
Hi Dave we have Three in our router and my phone, Paul's is O2. We generally find Three has ok signal except for parts of Llangollen and the oxford South. A couple of weeks we ago purchased an O2 router sim as well which we swap over when Three fails us and so far this has worked really well. 😀
He's crackers isn't he. Bless him, not running around like that at the moment as he seems to have hurt his back so he's finding it difficult jumping up...he seems to be getting slightly better and is being carried to bed rather than jumping on it 😉
That hire boat steaming through was ridiculous. No care for anyone else as it’s not their boat/home. Typical entitled behaviour we see in all walks of life these days but also CRT have to take some responsibility too for not maintaining those reeds.
They were coming through ploughing through the reeds and running along our boat, luckily we haven't had anyone else do that to us since..I think we were both so gob smacked we didn't really know what to say to them 😃
Please dont tar all hire boaters with the same brush , we as hire boaters are maybe more experienced than some owners , and we have seen plenty of owner boats with useless helmspersons …..
I agree completely with you. We have met plenty of hire boaters that have probably spent more time at the tiller than some live aboards. The only difference I would say here is that the holiday boat isnt their home so these guys didn't think twice about scrapping down the side of our home while ploughing through the reeds it wasn't a general comment about holiday boaters I can assure you. I also appreciate that boats will get scapes and bumbs but on this occasion it could have easily been avoided. 😊

Think we were so gobsmacked that they had just ploughed through, we didn't really know what to say 🫣🤣
Wow, how did you both keep your patience with that hire boat.

Yeah absolutely it would it would be perfect I would have thought but not sure if you'd then have to re waterproof it or not 😊

Hi Both, Again beautiful, Lobby no fishing at Blake Mere? Love you lots Martin ❤❤
We didn't stop long enough to fish unfortunately mate 😊
Another great video,I’m hoping to get to Llangollen this weekend lovely little town never know might even catch sight of you we will be having a walk to the horseshoe Falls
Llangollen is beautiful isn't it. We are a few weeks ahead of our vlogs in real time so we aren't actually on the Llangollen Canal anymore, we came off of it last week. 😊
Lovely episode as always thank you see you next week take care lizzy bulgaria x
Hi Lizzy from Bulgaria, thank you for joining us again and glad you enjoyed. Have a good week 😊
Thank for another one. Take care.
Hi Roger, yes channel 4 did contact us and ask if we would like to be on their next season of Narrow Escapes. We did think about it but we decided against at this time as we thought it might be a bit too tricky for Ernie to have all camera men on the boat. 😀
dear me its coming down ,we have not had any of it today worked 2 jobs in the dry this makes a bloody change
Yippee no rain..think its going to be dry for the next week so hopefully you'll be able to get a few of your jobs done 😀
@@uponreflection hello paul liz im working 9 hours friday 3 hours one house 6 hours the other i have worked 2 jobs today oh by the way your both looking well bless ya xx
Thank you Derek. Make sure you aren't working too hard..always squeeze the odd break in 😃
*Morena Liz, Paul & Ernie 🙂Gosh some people are always in such a rush... doing 5km per hour compared to you going 2km per hour!
@@uponreflection *Yep I love the scenery that you both film 🙂.*
Hi Liz, Paul and Captain Ernie,
No words to describe Blake Mere.

@markrant1460 Have a fab week Mark 😀
What is it that you used on your canopies please? Looks really good.......x
@@uponreflection Thank you so much.............. not CC but normally 6 months of the year on the cut for the last 5 years..........x
What cleaning product is that please ?
Hi Andrew it's 'wet and forget' type it into Google and it should come up straight away. And the waterproof seal we were recommended was fabsil. 😃
ernie on speed
He's crackers isn't he. Bless him, not running around like that at the moment as he seems to have hurt his back so he's finding it difficult jumping up...he seems to be getting slightly better and is being carried to bed rather than jumping on it 😉
👍
Thank you for watching 😀
Which football team? Nosey lol boss vid! 👏
Hi there, Paul's a Tottenham supporter 🙄
Thanks for watching 😄
@uponreflection Im a Y.N.W.A. fan! 🔴 😄
@woodypj I have to admit, I had to Google that to see what team 🤣..Liverpool 😉😊
@@uponreflection big up spurs!.. Sorry 2nd... all till Saturday! 😳🔴
How do you fund living on a boat full time?
Hi Dawn. Private pension and savings so far fund our life on the water and next year will be funds from our house sale. 😊
Xx
Thanks for watching 😄
That hire boat steaming through was ridiculous. No care for anyone else as it’s not their boat/home. Typical entitled behaviour we see in all walks of life these days but also CRT have to take some responsibility too for not maintaining those reeds.
They were coming through ploughing through the reeds and running along our boat, luckily we haven't had anyone else do that to us since..I think we were both so gob smacked we didn't really know what to say to them 😃
@ I know what I’d have said! 🤬 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
@nbspudley yeah I sort of wish I had to be fair 😉😃
At least they did some vegetation cutting and no one was hurt
Shocking behaviour
True. They probably needed to go in their weed hatch and get all the reeds out wrapped around the propeller too 🫣
Please dont tar all hire boaters with the same brush , we as hire boaters are maybe more experienced than some owners , and we have seen plenty of owner boats with useless helmspersons …..
