one of the best dark rides/rollercoasters i've ever been on. everything looked SO real and the animatronic alien was so smooth i legit thought it was real at some point.
I live in Tokyo And I like this attraction very much. Because. The attraction have a great story and 'Scenery'. So this is the Proud of Japanese technology!! Don't!! For get when you go there, you have to ride on!!
Its the best ride at Tokyo Disney Sea and one of my favorite dark rides at any Disney Park. The special effects are spectacular, the animatronics are great and it has one of the best endings ever. Also I think TDS rivals Animal Kingdom as the most beautiful Disney park. And that's saying a lot.
There is a lot more to this ride psychologically... When you enter this part of the park, you see the cars going down the drop, you also see them going around the bend towards the end. But you rarely put two and two together. When you're on that ride, most people assume it'll be a gentle ride. The ending is actually quite jarring as it's completely different from the rest of the ride, AND at night - can be nearly 20 seconds of pure darkness at high speeds.., with a significant drop.
Well for the yeti it's a bit different. He's not actually broken, but due to a design flaw, the yeti's movement could slowly break the walls around him over time and bring the ceiling down. In order to fix it, the imagineers would need to renovate the entire ride to support the yeti's weight, all while accounting for the safety of the coaster itself. The yeti itself wouldn't need to be changed. TLDR: The yeti works, but expedition everest isn't strong enough to hold a moving yeti. In the still position, his weight is evenly distributed.
Am I the only one who thinks that the lava monster looks EXACTLY like the alien from the now defunct Extra-Terrorestrial ride? He even has the same movements, although the skin is different.
I kept hearing about how awesome this animatronic was, but every other video missed half of its routine so I wasn't convinced until now. As always, great on-ride clip.
this is the second fastest ride, the first is space mountain, in tokyo Disney Sea. And to be honest, no one can say this ride sucks cuz the decorations and technology was amazing. When I rode this, I screamed my lungs out and when I got off, I had one single tears roll out of my eye. No kidding, this ride was amazing!!
Interesting (I think) thing about this ride. If you notice there is very little up and a lot of down. Before you board the ride you get into big elvatators that take one cars worth of guest "down into the earth". The gagues all say that you are going down, the lights outside the lift suggest that you are going down, there is even a sulphorus earthy smell. I can only conclude that in fact you are going up, right to the top of the mountain. This means that the ride can go down a lot, and only needs a short climb for the big drop. It's a great ride.
This ride is WAY more thrilling in person. I never knew watching a video of a ride would make it look so slow compared to actually being on it. I swear riding on Journey to the center of the earth during it's escape sequence feels like you're going atleast 4 times as fast as it looks in the video and the drop feels way bigger than it looks in the video.
This is great. Our upcoming wedding theme is Journey to the Center of the Earth and I wish, I wish, I WISH our honeymoon could be going to this park just to ride this!
Part 1: The Story Behind the Park Oswald the Lucky Rabbit is not satisfied that Mickey gets all the attention in the theme parks. So, he did the first thing that came to his mind... eat a burrito. Then, he started building this magnificent theme park in the available space in Walt Disney World. He originally planned to not allow in other characters from the parks but after some convincing (mostly from Ortensia,) he did. Now Operation Orlando is the hottest new theme park around!
Amazing ride!!! I feel like the only thing it's missing is a little "coda" at the end, just one more good scene, like Splash Mountain. But all the same, incredible!
My knowledge of Japanese is minimal, but Tokyo is a very easy city to get around in as long as you do your research. Everything is written in both kanji (the oriental-looking letters) and romanji (the same letters we use), so you'll be able to read most signs. The people are also extremely helpful and will bend over backwards to communicate with you if you can't communicate with them. It's also not nearly as expensive as people say: not counting souvenirs I only spent about $3000.
If you didn't think this ride was impressive, then you have a pretty narrow idea of what qualifies as impressive. Disney parks are not Six Flags. It isn't about the speed or the drops. It's about the theme, the work of art that puts you in that time and place of the ride. Journey is a FANASTIC realization of Jules Verne's classic novel and tied with Tokyo's 20,000 Leagues as my favourite Disney attraction. The end is an added thrill trying to imitate the climax of the novel.
It wouldn't hurt my feelings if this was brought to Disneyland USA along with Tokyo's 20,000 Leagues and Paris' Mysteries of the Nautilus and Cafe Hyperion as a "Discovery Bay" expansion to Frontierland (I'd even love a From the Earth to the Moon simulator while we're at it).
@Chase rodriguez Disneyland is getting the Radiator Springs Racer attraction. One of the most expensive Attractions the Walt Disney Company has spent on to date, it will be located in the new Cars land section and will open on June 15 with a soft opening date sometime this month. Its impossible they will add two different themes of the same type of ride.
The Mount Fuji rollercoaster ride at EPCOT WOULD BE FREAKING AMAZING. It's like the Matterhorn and Expedition Everest but IT ALSO HAS GODZILLA. AND THE NOSTROMO RIDE! A ride like Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters but with freaking Xenomorphs. Disney should never go the way of some overrated, but now forgotten, movie with over the top CGI.
I was all hyped up for RSR until I found out the maximum speed will be 40 mph. For a ride ABOUT racing, that seems too slow. What I think is so awesome about Journey to the Center of the Earth is the theming, the various creatures, the color, the lighting, that terrific audio-animatronic Lava Monster (Disney's most impressive in the world now that Expedition Everest's Yeti never runs due to structural problems). The speed at the end gives the ride an exciting climax too.
one of the best dark rides/rollercoasters i've ever been on. everything looked SO real and the animatronic alien was so smooth i legit thought it was real at some point.
wow I love japan style! not only does it makes people thrill, but a cool story too, as if to make the people feel as if they're there! AMAZING~!
I live in Tokyo
And I like this attraction very much.

So Japan has had this ride with that amazing animatronic bug for more than 10 yrs..but in the USA they can't fix the yeti? Way to go America. Lol
+Mandy Kliewer But disco yeti is life...
+Noah Vacek Disco Yeti is love. Disco Yeti is life.
Yasssss most convincing effect ever 10/10 ign

I came from Mortem3r
I agree, it also has some of the best Audio-Animatronics in the Cars characters as well
Am I the only one who thinks that the lava monster looks EXACTLY like the alien from the now defunct Extra-Terrorestrial ride? He even has the same movements, although the skin is different.
babysinclairfan I'm glad it gets to live on somewhere... also makes the alien encounter lore more interesting if it lives on Earth too.
YAY!!! Tokyo Disney Sea, literally the best park in the world i must say...
Rode this when I was 10. Fell in love w drops thanks t this ride!
I kept hearing about how awesome this animatronic was, but every other video missed half of its routine so I wasn't convinced until now. As always, great on-ride clip.
Great video ! It's nice to see something different. Never knew Disney had a ride like this. Thanks for all you do, we Disney fans appreciate it !
Short, but sweet. The short glimpsing view from atop the mountain, right before a sloping descension is truly wonderful.
I enjoyed when i visited DisneySea ... I went 2 times x33 ..however what is the awesomest at this 'roller coaster' are the effects x333

Best ride ever. I waited an hour. Well worth it.
2:03 That... has to be one of the most AWESOME animatronics I've ever seen. O_O
THANKS for sending me this Video.Great job. They should take the old people mover track in Disneyland and make this ride.
I love Radiator Springs Racers, but this is just PHENOMENAL! I'm not a fan of cloning rides usually, but this should be at every Disney Park!
Wow, now THAT's a darkride! Loving every second of it.
This ride is WAY more thrilling in person. I never knew watching a video of a ride would make it look so slow compared to actually being on it. I swear riding on Journey to the center of the earth during it's escape sequence feels like you're going atleast 4 times as fast as it looks in the video and the drop feels way bigger than it looks in the video.
by God! thanks, I had forgotten how much I like it, This ride is incredible! I thank you very much, you make me happy this day.............
I LOVED this ride! thumbs Up for the Monster at 2:04 .
This is great. Our upcoming wedding theme is Journey to the Center of the Earth and I wish, I wish, I WISH our honeymoon could be going to this park just to ride this!
Thanks for posting! I'd love to ride this in person.
The lava creature in the end was mindbogglingly crazy!
Best video of this ride ever.
This ride looks amazing! IT needs to be at Disney's Animal Kingdom
I loved this ride but the drop at the ending was scary
Cool dark ride I espeacially like the part with light at 1:32
Awesome, really well shot, thanks for sending that to me.
Rode this a few years ago. Amazing ride. Thanks for the video!

I LOVE THIS RIDE SO MUCH IT WAS SO FUN 😂😂

This looks really cool.. Thanks for sharing
Really neat ride! Thanks for sharing, I wouldn't have otherwise been able to see this. :)
I can see some of these special effects and technologies being utilized in the new Avatar land! Exciting!
Tokoyo Disney certainly has some interesting attractions.
This is so cool! That red monster is almost Carnotaurus caliber scary!

As awesome as the Radiator Springs Racers ones and the Yeti on Expedition Everest!
The entire mountain that this ride is located in is a land of its own...
Yeah, that ride was scary, especially the drop! Do not feel bad!
I wish all dark rides had fast parts like this
I went on this six months ago on my honeymoon. It is an incredible ride, the effects are amazing :-)
Excellent...thanks!

one of the best attractions ever made IMO

Cool ride!
That lava monster is one of the coolest things I've seen. I wish this attraction was in America..
This ride is Epic!

This looks a trippy ride. The fast part seems a bit short though. Still I'll have to go Tokyo DisneySea sometime in the future.
Looks likes an attraction I would like to see in the American Parks as well.
Uwaaaah, this ride looks so cool~
I wish we had it here...
wow very cool.... sure looks like the same system that Test Track at EPCOT runs on......
The Mount Fuji rollercoaster ride at EPCOT WOULD BE FREAKING AMAZING. It's like the Matterhorn and Expedition Everest but IT ALSO HAS GODZILLA. AND THE NOSTROMO RIDE! It was so much fun I wanna go again this year
Looks like Avatar! I reckon we're not far off until they make an indoor/dark ride based off Pandora :D
the drop is actually quite fast in real life! I love this ride :D just wish it was a bit longer :/
I remember this ride... I almost died on this.. The drop was WAAAYYY to steep for a 5 year old
That looks fun !

It's all slow and leisurely, 'Oooh, look at the freakish adorable slug thingys :D' then at 2:10 'OMG BALROG!!!!!!!'
The animatronics on this ride are awesome
