That makes sense since Seauto sells the cleaner itself to other companies which they brand it as their own. Those companies do however get to decide on which features are included. For instance, some have multiple cleaning modes out of the box and other brands do not, you have to use the app for it, etc. Although the cleaner works well, it's very confusing which one is which.
While it doesn’t have an ultra-fine filter, I’d bet the same “hack” (I hate saying that) would work here as it does for other vacuums… stick a bunch of cotton balls in the basket and they latch onto algae really well.
I have compared the Seauto Crab to the Smonet but not the Next trend. They're all the same cleaner on the inside. Manufactured by Seauto and sold to other companies that brand it as their own. Smonet and Nexttrend as well as a dozen more are based off the Seauto. Performance wise, ALL THE SAME. But depending on the brand, some features are included and some are not. For instance, some of them out of the box have multiple cleaning modes on the physical cleaner itself. While other brands don't, you have to use an app or pay extra for it. It's all based on the brand and what it chooses to release. I think the Seauto base is great in itself as a value cleaner. But the way it's sold off to other companies is incredibly confusing unfortunately.
That's another thing too I didn't mention... the brands have been changing it up. What used to come standard before on one cleaner may have recently changed. For instance, when I first did the review on the Smonet it came with all the options. But a few weeks ago, a viewer reached out and told me they bought the exact same cleaner and it no longer had the options for multiple cleaning modes. It really is confusing nowadays.
Kidney shaped pool should work well, on stairs it should climb up as long as the top of the stair has enough surface area space to give cleaner some traction. Like if the stairs are super thin it wouldn't be able to climb.
I find that these cleaners have difficulty navigating from the deep end to the shallow end due to issues with the ramps. They seem to mistake the upward slope for a wall and remain in the deep end.
I had this issue with AIPER seagul pro, so it is going back and ordered the Smonet. Hopefully it works better because the AIPER was awful in my pool. It's $100 cheaper too so worth trying.
I just received this, and it won't go into floor mode, when I use blue tooth it pairs to doiot-ble,then I have smonet robot downloaded but it won't connect, I just want floor mode
Did you try to reset it? You shouldn't have to since it's new but that might work. Turn it on, press and hold power button again till the light changes, then press the power button again and it should reset. If that doesn't work, definitely contact them for a replacement
Did you get this actual brand? This one is the Smonet brand. There are a number of different brands that use the same cleaner. They look very similar to each other. Some of those brands have apps and some do not. I just realized the Smonet brand doesn't have an app I think. At least not when I reviewed it. Could you be using a different brand with an app? That could explain why the version you got has only one mode. Depending on the brand of the cleaner some of them have multiple modes, some have only one, and some have online apps and some don't... it's very confusing unfortunately.
David I have the chance to buy the smoker cr60 pro or the niya sonar 50 for similar price, niya is about 50 dollars more. What would you do? I am pretty sure the new smonet can't change settings without going into app. Also niya looks like better way to open filter basket. Not sure if that's it? Wanted older seauto seal but none around
Why does your video title say this is better than the seal? The seal supposedly charges quicker and then runs longer. Look at the descriptions of the "new" Niya Sonar 30 (crab) and the "new" Niya Sonar 50 (seal). And the Niya Sonar 50 costs $100 more. I don't think it would be worth $100 more if the only difference was having an app, so the Sonar 50 (seal) must have something that makes Dolphin company believe it's worth $100 more than their Sonar 30 (crab). David, please explain if Sonar 50 has other benefits over the 30, other than the app and the basket lid.
This video and title was made before the Niya series was released and it was based off the first original 2024 seauto seal/Crab. It gets very confusing yes, too many of the same cleaner with different names. The Niya series is literally another brand of the same seal/Crab cleaners but with the Dolphin brand name. With the Niya, you're paying more for essentially almost the same cleaner but you get the brand name/reputation/warranty with dolphin. The 100 dollar difference between the 50 and 30 really comes down to if you want access to more cleaning modes(50 has 3 modes, 30 has 1 mode only). The app isn't very useful at all so I wouldn't consider that a big influence. The benefit to having more cleaning modes means you can focus more on areas of the pool. For instance, on the niya 50 you can select Floor Only mode and it'll only clean the floors and won't climb walls so it's faster cleaning the floors this way. Again, not a necessary mode but can be useful, especially if you have unexpected debris and want to focus quickly on areas.
For in between a service, I'd totally go with an automatic surface skimmer instead. It'll pick up the dog hair before it sinks down and would be easier to empty and put back in
I have the original seauto seal version but has no app connectivity and I can’t change the cleaning modes without the app. Probably going to return it because I don’t really need the sides cleaned as much as the floor. Honestly just I big disappointment especially for this price point.
Yes, the 2024 model Seal out of the box is a downgrade compared to last years model which they unfortunately discontinued. If however, you do, like in general how that Seal moves and cleans, take a look at the Smonet CR6. Same cleaner, different brand but out of the box, YES you can change modes on the physical cleaner. I prefer then Smonet over the Seal.
The CR6 in this video? Strange, as you can see, in the video I physically change the cleaner and modes. I've never downloaded their app or used it. Unless they released a new version and got rid of it...
Thanks for the info. I was about to pull the trigger on a seauto bc of the good reviews but have been so confused on the different models and names of identical cleaners with different branding
For vinyl lined pools I'd stay away from aggressive scrubbers. I'm assuming you want it cordless. Some good plug and play cleaners that should be safe for vinyl pools are the Polaris Freedom or the Aiper Scuba S1.
Is there a difference between the blue and grey models? I ordered the grey since it would come faster and my pool is getting messy after my aquabot quit working.
The grey one they call the Seal/Crab. Some people have reported that out of the box the grey one doesn't have the option of multiple cleaning modes(myself included) while others reported that they do get the extra modes on their cleaners.
@@imdefinitelydavid There is so much confusion because there are apparently 2 different grey models. I am not sure but i noticed the blue version had a $100 off coupon so ordered it and will return the grey. Also the grey model listing suddenly is gone.
@@imdefinitelydavid They also keep adding and removing the coupons, and even the listings themselves. I sent them a message asking about the grey vs blue cr6. What a mess.
Well what seauto did was sell their cleaner to brands and those brands market the cleaner as their own and can set the prices. The cleaner itself is great, but all the brand stuff is confusing and annoying.
You made me buy seauto crab it was the worst robot it doesn’t climb to walls and no customer service help at all i m returning back to amazon stay a way from this TH-camr recommendations
The Seauto Crab is great for being a value cleaner. I'm sorry you got a bad unit and had to deal with terrible customer service. This was your experience, not mine. I can only make recommendations based on my own experience with the cleaner. And for me, the cleaner worked well. Even when I contacted the company for info, it took days to respond but they eventually did. Again, sorry to hear about your experience.
I love the way it floats back down from the waterline, I bet that saves a lot of battery. Can't wait for mine to come on Friday.
I have the seauto crab but discovered today you can also connect the Smonet CR6 app to the Crab as of course they are basically the same.
That makes sense since Seauto sells the cleaner itself to other companies which they brand it as their own.

Have you compared the seauto to the Nextrend and Smonet pool vac

Love your videos!! Do you think this will work with a pool with “hopper” deep end? If not what would be the best option?
As long as the hopper isn't too deep it should. I've heard some people say for more deeper parts of their pool it struggles.
@@imdefinitelydavid thank you
