    I am an avid TH-camr and was looking for a new pool cleaner when I saw this video. It is the most comprehensive and detailed video from a non-sponsored creator. I appreciate the in-depth reviews and have subscribed to your channel based on this one video. I got the Crab because of you (hopefully nobody has ever said those words to you before now haha). It does a great job, especially considering it's almost 75% of the cost of the winner here. My moms pool was neglected, algae growing the the floors and walls, and we just power-washed the paver-patio surrounding it so there was a LOT of debris in there. I watched it go over the debris field and thought i'd be sending it back, but it did it. In one cleaning it got about 85% of the debris and algae cleared up, by the second run, the pool looked GREAT!

    • @bnwing

      I just ordered the Crab, it arrived in a few days. I got it for $360 on amazon with a $140 off coupon & then only paid $60+ tax, since I had $300 in rewards points. I can’t wait to try it out! I have a 12x26’ oval Coleman above ground pool & debris is always an issue. The Seauto Crab seemed the best for the price.

    THE most comprehensive review of cordless pool robots! I had ordered the Aiper Scuba S1 but now cancelled because it doesn't have a fine filter and I get a lot of fine sand here on the Spanish coast. Now looking at Wybot S2 (without dock) despite a really bad experience with their M1 Utlra (via a Kickstarter campaign) last year.

    Wow, that was a lot of work. Thanks for taking the time. I'm a tethered cleaner person and keep my pool covered to keep evaporation down when not swimming so un-tethered isn't really a good option. I also leave the sweep in the pool 24x7 and the current one is going on 3 years with no issues. Still great to see what's what in the non-tethered world.

    I bought the aiper s1 pro had it for 2 days and returned it to Amazon. It couldn't navigate my pool's geometry with sloped floors and perimeter ledge 3 feet below water line so water line feature became useless. I replaced with maytronics dolphin sigma a $400 price difference but I've had it for 3 weeks and it does a significant better job cleaning. Climbs up to whole wall to get the water line. I'm surprised none of the dolphin pool bots made it into the video... I do love this channel and the thorough reviews of the types of products that I'm interested in using. Keep up the good content.

    • @TheHookUp
      @TheHookUp  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not a super fair comparison since the sigma is a tethered bot. I had planned to include the Dolphin LIBERTY 200, but it was out of stock everywhere when I was gathering robots for testing.

  • @websherpa
    @websherpa 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I bought the Aiper S1 from Amazon because I wanted a cordless unit and the price seemed worth trying it out since I can just erturn it if not satisfied. So far I am really impressed despite the random paths. We have a large flat area and then sloping walls all around to the deep end (it struggles a bit on sloped corners. It always picks up all of the leaf and similar debris and a good portion of silt (which has been significant lately with a lot of rain and wind in our area). I didn’t find that the powerful pump discharge pushes the bottom debris about enough to make it significant. It’s light and easy to fish out of the pool (it drives itself to a wall and stops). It re-charges in about a 4 hour period (but I never clean more than once a day and normally every two days depending on pool use). I wouldn’t use a pool robot for opening cleaning, and I find a proper vacuum brush head cleaning makes th efloor less slippery (despite it looking clean). The wall cleaning action works quite well, and will most certainly inhibit algae growth as it’s action moves fresh chlorinated water around into what is usually a stangant layer against the walls (where algae would normally take hold).
    Overall I am quite impressed and happy with the Aiper Scuba S1, and ultimately glad I didn’t purchase the heavier Aiper Scuba S1 Pro (although I would have IF we had a pool bigger than our 16 x 16 x 34’ L-shaped pool. (I considered the Polaris Freedom as well, but could not justify the extra cost when manually vacuuming our small inground pool doesn’t take that long (we started using a concrete roller and brush rectangle type wide head for daily cleaning prior to the robot as it allows a much faster quick vacuum on our vinyl pool than our regular triangular brush vacuum head which I used for a heavier cleaning every couple of weeks). Now I pop the Scuba S1 into the pool each morning and spend more time swimming in the afternoons instead of cleaning.

    I bought the Seauto Seal after watching you previous video. It worked well for half a season in my little Amazon pool. Now that I have a large real pool it lasted two weeks before one of the track motors broke. I managed to talk to someone at Seauto who told me to send a video of it going in circles. That was early May and haven’t heard anything since 🤦🏻‍♂️

    • @TheHookUp
      @TheHookUp  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's disappointing, they are supposed to have a 2 year warranty. Unfortunately when I made the video last year they had great warranty service and even a phone number based in California. That phone number now automatically disconnects, and emails are sporadic. Something fishy definitely happened because Maytronics (Dolphin) is now selling the Seauto Seal under their own name for considerably more money: amzn.to/3xKJ0rx
      At least with Maytronics you know they will honor warranty.

    • @yokhandukhin8988

      Exactly the same happened to me. Seauto Seal worked perfectly for about 8 month, then it just stopped working. Was having conversation with customer support for about 1 month with no success, they asked me to send a video and order details which I did twice, and then just stopped answering my emails. Indeed their phone never worked as well. I pushed Amazon and was able to get a refund. Also looking to their social platforms (fb and insta) we can see tons of comments about not answering emails and phone calls. They are complete scammers. Would never recommend this brand to anyone.

    Great review, thanks! You are the only one upto date who mentioned the useless secondary filter on the S1 Pro, which really is a joke the way it is done. Pure marketing...
    Have you updated the firmware on any of the units before testing?
    I just bought an Aiper S1 Pro and did a firmware update (from 1.0.0 to 1.0.1) and found the navigation capabilities far superior to before the update.
    Before it would always get stuck at the stairs because when going down the last step, it always "fell" back to the same spot so it did the same spot over and over again. After the update it managed to get on after 2-3 attempts and also had a satisfying close overlap when cleaning the walls. Very satisfied with the unit now!

    Very much appreciate your unbiased evaluation of these robots. My six year old Dolphin Triton PS is about ready to retire. I had to change out the guts a year ago and the power supply case and power cord are rapidly deteriorating from the punishment of the southern Arizona sun. The only problem I've had with it is, it can get hung up on the pool drain cover. I've read that this is not an uncommon issue for pool cleaning robots. Are the drain covers in your pool flush fit? Also, you may want to recheck your Amazon links.

    I really like the Wybot S2 Pro, but don’t like the fact that its docking station stays in the pool. Does anyone know if you *have* to install it in the pool, or can you just take the bot out of the water and carry it to its dock, located in a dry spot outside the pool?

    A very thorough section of reviews thank you. Thought i'd add some comments re my experience of one of these:
    Have recently purchase the Scuba 1 Pro and it cannot do everything that the manufacturers at Aiper and a lot of these "Review" clips claim. It cannot handle relatively mild changes in pool gradient at all, and apparently (according to their customer service team) it doesn't work as expected with smooth materials. It certainly doesn't work with my standard ceramic pool tiles, even though they are 15 years old and anything but smooth! Wall cleaning mode struggles with the pool gradient and cannot advance along the wall, apparently because my pool has slightly rounded pool transitions from floor to wall. And it doesn't always manage to dock at the pool edges when the battery runs down. And finally, I think that their customer service team is an AI platform (and a poor one at that), as they appear to answer all questions with common (sometimes irrelevant) answers, and do not try to reach any sort of resolution other than to update the firmware again (even if you've clearly stated that it is up to date). Or that the machine seems to be operating correctly!

I Know the manufacturers say not to do that, but if we want to automate pool cleaning, that is clearly the direction and feature that future models need to go. Edit:
    Was interested to see how the Beat-bot did after Linus's video since it seems to take quite a long time for seemingly very small amount of dirt when they threw leaves and dirt in the pool.

    • @TheHookUp
      @TheHookUp  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As I mentioned, the filter has pretty small holes and is easily clogged. The Beatbot has a suction power draw monitor and will stop cleaning if the bin is clogged, which would be very often in a pool that dirty. Unfortunately the Beatbot should have the ability to go to the surface and connect to WiFi to send error notifications, but it doesn't and instead it just stops cleaning and sits on the bottom of the pool until you fish it out.

I have a 12,000 gallon pool with two curve benches about 8 foot each and a baja shelf with 2 steps on each end. I have several drains that includes 2 drains that provide heat going up when heating the pool. In a review for the S2, the reviewer said that you aren't supposed to leave the sponge filter in if you're doing anything other than floor-only mode and that the S2 Pro is the same as the S2 but with the dock included. (Makes that a rather pricey dock given the discounts on the base S2!) Since you've spent a good amount of time with the S2 Pro, I was wondering if that's what you've seen with the pool cleaner. I tend to leave my cleaners in "clean everything" mode, so I wouldn't mind just leaving the sponge filter in to ensure that I'm not missing small particulate. (Maybe use the course filter?)

      There were 2 filters in the box, the ultra fine filter and a more coarse secondary filter. I was using the ultra fine foam filter and leaving in 24/7 no matter what mode I was using.
