      I've had four of them. A Malaguti Madison 250, two Suzuki Burgman 400s and a SYM Maxsym 600. I think nothing can beat them. Reasonable performance with weather protection and practicality. As you say, people who have nothing good to say about them have never ridden one.

      I owned a Honda Xadv for 12 months, it's amazing how many people on bikes totally ignore anyone on what appears to be a scooter. The usual lack of recognition from the BMW owners, which happens anyway, as well as the turds on their L plated Chinese 125's shows how far scooters are looked down on. I would happily have a TMax.

  • @Jaffa1951

    The ultimate praise. Neevesy has owned a TMax, and would like another one. Yamaha must be rubbing their, collective, hands together.

  • @mesonofgib
    @mesonofgib ปีที่แล้ว +8

    I'm with you Neevesy in being a motorcyclist who (secretly) quite likes the idea of a maxi scooter. I think the divide between motorcycles and scooters that we currently have is a bit artificial; something that I'm hoping will change one day when they all go electric (since the absence of a gearbox will take away one of the big differentiators).
    I have to say, though, that as of 2023 the starting price has gone up to £13,800, which is far too much cheddar for such a vehicle. It's actually **more** expensive than the Tracer 9 GT at £13,100! How on earth did they get the price so high?

    I’ve owned 3 maxi scooters in my 55years of riding motorcycles 2 Piaggio X9’s 500 and a 2012 Yamaha T-Max all great bikes but the Yamaha had the large edge. I thought it was much better due to the larger tyres and 50/50 weight distribution as they didn’t wear out so quickly, but the sitting position on these bikes is like you said , hard on the small of your back. Loved the Yamaha and want another now as they have addressed this problem. I wish the motorcycle community could except these bikes as equals as I have embarrassed many a big bike rider on my maxi scooters 😂

    I have seen many reviews on this and many other bikes. My comment here is not strictly about the bike as I have a Tmax 2020 TechMax upgrading from my 2012 Tmax ABS (first one with ABS). I am commenting here to applaud and give praise to the narrator. Every review made, from Aprilia Tuono (I have that one as well) and many other bikes are audio book symphonies in video format. Your reviews are very informative and capture details that other video reviewers omit. Your style, intonation and flow is simply amazing. Big THANK YOU for all the effort.

    15,700 euro here in Ireland. That's a crazy amount. Its a face I just can't love. I did try convince myself to go for it but settled for second hand 2019 Dx ice fluo. The big screen of the new model and the little tweaks just aren't enough to splash out on. The front end and the new 7" screen just don't do it for me.

      I have a 2020 BMW 400GT . every day commute round trip 60 km half highway and half city its just perfect .
      had a 2008 T max yes its faster but a lot taller and a bit heavier. gas mileage the GT also better.

      It’s a lot of dosh but in it’s defence (and I don’t own one) it’s loaded with every bell and whistle. The sales figures for this bike are very high - so our local dealer say anyway. Seems to have a devout following.

    • @MotoGoato
      @MotoGoato 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@theonlyredspecial Fair points ... but the Tracer 9 GT is also loaded with every bell and whistle (it even has semi-active suspension front and rear!!), can carry more stuff in it's included side boxes, has a LOT more performance than the T Max and is STILL £200 cheaper ... it also weighs the same as the T Max whilst holding 3 litres more fuel and is even a few mm shorter end to end .... Sure the Max may sell well but why? When Yamaha themselves sell a bike that is more practical and offers more of pretty much everything for less money. Other than wanting a scooter styled ride I can't see any reason to buy it over the T9 GT 🤷‍♂️ .. (and I don't own a T9 GT, or any other Yamaha)

    • @theonlyredspecial
      @theonlyredspecial 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MotoGoato I’d love to argue with you as it’s TH-cam comments and everyone loves a fight but I can’t. You are right. Maybe someone else here who has a t max can tell us why to all your questions. Maybe even Michael neeves himself. I admire what they have done with the tmax but I’d never own one myself. It seems almost priced out of the market as a new bike. But they sell well. 🙃

    • @MotoGoato
      @MotoGoato 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theonlyredspecial This is the thing, I'm not trying to argue either .. I'd genuinely love to know why it is still so appealing to some at such a high price. If it were £8K it would make a lot more sense ... £10K would be pushing it a lot ... but at £12.5K there are so many other options out there, seriously good and highly rated ones too! I guess it must be a scooterist thing .. and the Max has to be at the top of any scooterists wishlist 😉
