I wish the tester would give some personal details so one can assess what the riding position would be for one self. Inside leg and height measurement is useful to gauge a riding position. Looking at the tester his knee angle is what I consider too sharp for me. If he is only 5'10" then at 6'1" my ankles would be touching the back of my ears. With a gammy knee this bike would be totally unsuitable for me although I do like the specs. This not just MCN but other reviewers of any bike also don't mention this aspect. Seat height is not the sole indication of knee angle.
Only issues are the offset dash, not having a proper brake light and not having cruise control. There's really no excuse not to have cruise control with ride-by-wire throttle. Looks like they actually gave it a proper rear brake. Modern bikes, for some reason, seem to have absolute junk rear brakes. Well, maybe the fuel tank could be one or two liters bigger but the consumption is pretty low so it's fine-ish, I guess. Combining the indicators and brake lights sucks because if you lose the indicator, you lose the brake lights as well. You can use hand signals, if need be, to indicate but you can't really use hand signals for braking.
The looks are amazing. I just purchased the Suzuki GSX-8S but much prefer the look of the entire RE range, especially this one. But everything else, aside price, is the reason I went with the 8S. There just isn’t ever the perfect bike IMO.
Your probably more experienced than me, after all, I’ve only been riding 40 years, but, I can’t help feeling, if you’ve got to “thrash” it all the way, then you’ve probably bought the wrong bike!!!!
What a gorgeous bike! Could tempt me away from my wrist heavy Firestorm in a year or two, once they are on the second hand market. While I'm at it MCN, why are you no longer allowing private second hand bike sales on MCN? Only dealers now from what I see. Tut, Tut. Keep that up and I might stop buying the rag.
I like it.....but not as much as the triumph... the enfields styling just looks a little...off... it's nearly there, but looks like it's trying too hard.
It occurred to me that this bike sits approximately where the Japanese 450 bomber was 60 years ago 😮 The bomber produced marginally more horses at 43 (claimed), slightly less torque at 27.6 (claimed), it weighed in at a similar 187Kg dry and was similarly frugal at 65mpg. Progress huh 😂 I’d bet the Honda was a great deal smoother.
It's as much about emissions these days as anything else. I'll bet my house to a brick that the RE has better "green" credentials that the old CB's. That said, I also know which one I'd prefer.
Great looking bike. Not sure how these young people you mention will see it, but I'm sure plenty of middle aged retro enthusiasts like me will be putting their orders in. Can't see that purple number selling well though, it's awful! 😂 Love the blue and white, but the black/red/yellow will probably be top trumps. 👌🏻
Relatively cheap, Indian made 450 single, doesn’t quite have the same ring. The little Fantic weighs 150Kg with similar power and, in my view, looks far more individual, but you pay a premium for it. Have Triumph, or RE really moved the game along ? They both make a more competitively priced motorcycle, but both are much heavier. The first thing many do is to look at ways of reducing weight, increasing the power, or making it more individual-all at great cost. The Himalayan was both interesting by design, oddly capable both off and on road and cheap to boot, but this just looks like ‘we made one too’ it hardly exciting in the way of the new Aprilia 457, the CF Moto 450, or the 4 cylinder Kawasaki. It’s not a Honda 400 four, or a 350LC. It’s strangely depressing to realise that this bike stirs any excitement, I can’t remember much being said about a Honda Benly.
Do be so kind and tell me how tall you are please, the bike looks right for you, fair enough. although you seemed a bit cagey about saying it was too small for you? I AM 5'11" SO WOULD IT BE TO LOW?
@@nickk19 depends on what kind of 800. The Ducati scrambler is 803cc and makes 70 something hp. That's a middle weight. A 450 making 40 hp is not a middle weight. It's an A2 beginner bike

Exactly!! Most riders don't actually need massive, huge horse powered bikes - but want them as a status symbol. Laughable......
MCN always seem to keep a 1000cc sports bike in mind as their benchmark, which all other bikes should aspire to be.

so exactly how far will a full tank get you ? what is the mpg ?
Probably 30-35 kmpl street and highway.
I got mine yesterday, and I few videos also ❤
A reckon the Triumph has it by a nose; good effort, though, by RE. However, the new little Aprilia kicks both their arses, as does the Duke 390.
The Triumph 400 and The Duke 390 motors are both made by Bajaj in India.
All of them are priced similar ?
So edgy & not everyone likes edgy design for longer period like u .
Wrong tree mate😅
Not sure about UK price, but in Australia the Aprilia is about 30% more expensive than a Triumph Speed 400. Quite a different price point.
The looks are amazing. I just purchased the Suzuki GSX-8S but much prefer the look of the entire RE range, especially this one. But everything else, aside price, is the reason I went with the 8S. There just isn’t ever the perfect bike IMO.
I like sound and Excellent motorcycle in the category
Looking forward the the Scram450
great review
Not just cheaper than a Triumph Speed Twin. Its cheaper then top spec 125s
Wow, it is like every TH-camr and Bauer media were invited!
Your probably more experienced than me, after all, I’ve only been riding 40 years, but,
I can’t help feeling, if you’ve got to “thrash” it all the way, then you’ve probably bought the wrong bike!!!!
Great looking bike but not a fan of a single cylinder bike. Its to viby at higher speeds. Please RE make this in700-800 cc and a twin and i am home
An 850 twin roadster will be fantastic!
I wonder if I could fit this with proper tires for my gravel road cruising...
The way you say Himalayan is like finger nails down a chalkboard.
he's saying it the way the locals do
Maybe locals outside of India @@specialcircs
I used to sell Royal Enfield bikes for a living. He is pronouncing Himalayan correctly.
I could use one of those, probs black and yellow. I'm not too keen on combined lights, they can be hard to see.
It wouldn't be rocket science to change ’em… AliExpress is your friend. There's masses to choose from.
That’s the best color
ill keep my Speed 400 thanks🙃
While it appeared you were on pretty smooth roads, what is the suspension compliance on this bike? Lovely sound, nice looking, what's the weight?
Suspension is the good part of this 450 series compared to 650 , they're comfort oriented yet hard enough for cornering
Doubt it.
It's as much about emissions these days as anything else. I'll bet my house to a brick that the RE has better "green" credentials that the old CB's. That said, I also know which one I'd prefer.
Id replace the round rear reflector with a led brake/rear light
Can you tell me what it weighs?
181kg
Looks dope ❤
That's a nice noise it makes !
The pronouncing of Himalayan was hilarious, you got it once though😅😂
The Triumph Speed 400 is slightly cheaper in India.
I like the bike a lot on screen that is.
Hope to see it soon in th showrooms
Question: what is the topspeed of the 450 guerilla ?
Some body?
170-180kmph
The butt bots love you my dude.
😂
I wonder if the lack of centrally-located rear and brake light would be illegal in some countries
Ask BMW. That is standard on the new GS.
Where is that magical looking cathedral in the background?
That's the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona... Amazing cathedral to visit if you get the chance
@@MarcHeimbigner thanks. It looks out of this world, surely would plan to visit once
What bike is the himalian? Isn't it named after the mountain range, Himalayan?
Great looking bike. Not sure how these young people you mention will see it, but I'm sure plenty of middle aged retro enthusiasts like me will be putting their orders in. Can't see that purple number selling well though, it's awful! 😂 Love the blue and white, but the black/red/yellow will probably be top trumps. 👌🏻
All the bikes are UK registered when will we see them on UK roads?😊
This month
What is the tester's inside leg?
About 19"
Can't think of another bike that uses CEAT TYRES? I can.... Every other Royal Enfield for a start😂
Ah, the Himalayan engine in a naked. Nice.
Do be so kind and tell me how tall you are please, the bike looks right for you, fair enough. although you seemed a bit cagey about saying it was too small for you? I AM 5'11" SO WOULD IT BE TO LOW?
I think it would be cool if it was like an 800 v twin
Not the point of this motorcycle.
You just jumped into 12k motorcycle
@@starrider1900 it's the point of middleweights though.
@@CS-pl8fc800cc isn’t middleweight…
@@nickk19 depends on what kind of 800. The Ducati scrambler is 803cc and makes 70 something hp. That's a middle weight. A 450 making 40 hp is not a middle weight. It's an A2 beginner bike
