  • Originally by (Janis Ian)
    Stars, they come and go.
    They come fast, 'n slow.
They go like the last light of the sun,
    All in a blaze.
And all you see is glory.
Hey, but it gets lonely there,
When there's no one here to share.
    We can shake it away,
    If you'll hear a story.
    People lust for fame,
    Like athletes in a game.
    We break our collarbones,
    And come up swinging.
    Some of us are crowned,
    Some of us are downed
Some of are lost and never found.
But most have seen it all.
    They live their Lives,
In sad cafes and music halls
    They always have a story
Some make it when they're young,
Before the world has done it's dirty job.
And later on, someone will say,
"You've had your day, now you must make way."
    Don't they always?
But they'll never know the pain
Of living with a name you never owned.
    Or the many years forgetting,
    What you know too well,
That you who gave the crown,
    Have been let down.
    You try to make amends
    Without defending
    Perhaps pretending
    You never saw the eyes
    Of young men at twenty-five,
    who followed as you walked,
    Asked for autographs,
    Kissed you on the cheek.
    And you never could believe,
    They really loved you.
    Never
Some make it when they're old
Perhaps they have a soul they're not afraid to bare.
    Perhaps there's nothing there.
But anyway that isn't what i meant to say
I'm meant to tell about a story
    since we all have stories
    but can't remember it anyways
So i can tell about the mood in the in United States today
    Permeating even Switzerland
    It Goes ...
    [music]
But i continue anyways until i get it together
    Some women have a body,
    Men will want to see.
And so they put it on display.
Some people play a fine guitar.
I could listen to them play all day.
But anyway, I'm trying to tell my story.
Janis Ian told it very well,
Janis Joplin told it even better,
Billy Holiday told it even better.
We always, we always, we always have a story.
The latest story that I know is the one that i'm supposed to go out of
    Feeling, nothing more than feelings,
    Feelings, nothing more than feelings.
    Feelings of love.
    You know that?

So many Bojack comments. I want to respond to them all. This song is so perfect for such a great show for its season 3 finale. RIP Sarah Lynn. And remember Bojack. When your sad, keep running. Don't look back. The past doesn't matter anymore. All that matters is what is ahead of you, and the beautiful moments you share with others in the moment. It gets easier. Everyday it gets a little easier. But that's the hard part. You have to do it everyday, but it does get easier. Run Bojack. Run and be responsible for your long lost happiness.

Amazing that Janis Ian wrote this song before the age of 23. Its words are so world-weary, though I suppose she saw more of the world at age 14 than most do until much older. It's a perfect marriage to hear her words voiced with Nina Simone's experienced gravitas.

+Joe F Rick and Morty doesn't quite have a story like Bojack, but the finale of season 2 is kind of "emotional" I guess.

I actually watched Rick and Morty over the last weekend, and you're right. In its right, it's a fantastic show but it's not AS emotional as BoJack and I don't think that is what its intent is. I do find it more consistent than BoJack though.

Sarah Lynn, Amy Winehouse, Miley Cyrus, or Brittney Spears. The same story captured by Nina Simone, Stars - Live at Montreaux, 1976 - "the latest story that I know is the one I'm 'sposed to go out with". Heart breaking and beautiful, as was Nina. Surprised that Bojack Horseman could conjur such resonant, heartwrenching emotions, history reliving itself perpetually with these joked-about talented women, royalty and culture makers abandoned, ending up dead or obscure in cold european cities. Trying to answer - what happened, miss simone? Such beauty and sadness.

I think it's safe to say that everyone is here for the same reason. Bojack Horseman is a national treasure. What was once a mediocre animated comedy has become so much more. The emotional impact this show has had on me over the past year is tremendous, and I'm not sure where I'd be without it. Its comforting really, being able to watch someone elses life destroyed. It's almost spiritual, even if it's just a show about a cartoon horse. Watching Bojack Horseman helps me to forget about my shitty life. It makes me feel better knowing that my life could never get as fucked up or depressing as Bojack Horseman's. Here's to another 4 seasons.
