    I love Judge Middleton. He knows all of these people since they were kids. Saw them go down the wrong path and it appears that he genuinely feels pain from it. He is just a guy that cares. These hard decisions have to weigh on him. God Bless you, Judge Middleton.

    And just a side note, when the judge says that he's known you since you were a teenager and that he uses one of your arraignments as a teaching tool, that might tell you that you need to stop breaking the law because you're not good at it.

      Definitely need to be held accountable for actions but to the judges point they end up getting caught in the system for longer than their maximum possible sentence because they are just so difficult to deal with and don’t cooperate with proceedings. Needs to be a different protocol for inmates like this that helps them while also ensuring they do receive some punishment for their actions, only issue is that no matter what system gets put in place people will try to use it for their advantage.

      @@Larry_Owlmann In the first case, if the US properly fund MH services, she might not be a problem for the community.
      The judge can only work within the law and the available community resources, but this should be a blaring alarm bell, but it will be ignored by the people who can do something about it, like always.

      @@nobodyimportant7804Absolutely! People forget that it isn't against the law to be mentally ill. Unless someone is a danger to themselves or others, they are not holdable regarding mental health problems. When we underfunded community mental health services,we created a system in which people just end up stuck in this crack.

    • @nobodyimportant7804

      @@millipedic In a non-sadistic country, MH treatment would take priority. If she improves to the point where she is coherant and can live independently and then continues to steal, then deal with that. But, nothing can change without readily available MH treatment and unfortunately that is out of the judge's hands and we would need so many politicians willing to do the right thing.
      Everyone wants to look tough on crime but they never want to put in the work and money to reduce it: drug and MH treatment, anti-poverty programs, etc are never on the table. Increasing the sizes of jails and prisons take precedence over solving the problem.
      We deserve the high crime rate.

      Judge Middleton has nothing to do with state and federal legislation shutting down psychiatric hospitals that are funded by state and federal funds, it was Reagan in 1982ish that shut them down threw the doors open and turned everyone loose, it's traditionally been a republican line to defund and close down, to cut off mental health availability, sure there's some democrats that'll support those measures but it's largely a republican thing and those are facts easily assessed and verified

    • @marketads1
      @marketads1 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Agreed. But this was done SPECIFICALLY by Ronald Reagan. He closed all the large institutions. It took the country two decades to create a new system to handle mental illness. It was called criminal justice. The jails filled up and citizens became outraged when murderers and drug dealers got let out early. Well, too bad. Who gets out first, the mad men who become homeless, murderers, thieves and trouble makers or a drug dealer leaving five years early?

    I hold her someone accountable too, in that she didn't protect her own self and financial safety by refusing to continue to go into debt to help her adult kids and let them just face the consequences of their bad behavior.
    It makes me sick that his elderly woman is now having to sell and leave her home due to those selfish bloodsucking kids. One of whom, then wants to use her as a shield to stay out of jail...with the 'my poor old mommy needs help moving' excuse.

      The facts are: the crininal justice system doesn't want to deal with any mental health/addiction issues and only gives lip service to "resources".
      Example : if these 2 cases , the judge can clearly see they both need treatment and apparently has asked for it. But the da office and the jail isnt doing the work. Like i say its like a game , they say oh we give resources blah blah but these people need hand holding. Why? Because they cant make good decisions due to mental illness or addiction or both.
