When I did my vaulve cover I didn't use RTV. Instead I just cleaned the surfaces extremely well and dished a little extra cash for the oem gasket. No leaks

nooo dont lean on the pop up headlights, it bends the metal and you get an annoying gap between the pop up and the hood

Sammit once you degrease the bay make sure you agitate the dirt or grease with a brush and it will come off a lot easier when you power wash it!!

Do you think it's easier to pull the transmission out together with the engine or just unbolt it and take the engine out without it attached? I'm getting ready to pull my 1.6 from the miata to fix a leak around the oil pan/oil pump area. no way to do that with the engine in the car. Don't want to drop the sub frame below it.

Yup most junkyards use them. I use them all the time doesn't scratch your valve cover.

Rubber belts for pulling an engine and trans seems very sketchy. I would much rather use a beefy ratchet strap or two.
