@@sexysadie2901 I think what he or she is saying is that the general public did not walk around with cameras for the most part, and cell phones and social media weren't even a thing yet. When we used to go to concerts, we were just there in the moment, not concerned with sharing it on twitter or such. Though I would hope the youngsters nowadays have the good sense to put their phones away when they get the chance to hear a good band live. If any of us ever again get to hear live music again.

@@unclisa and if social media and smartphones were around at that time, people definitely would be filming and posting. Stop acting like you're so much better than the youth of today, you'd be right along with them at that time. I don't know why filming it is "not being in the moment", the whole point is about capturing the moment and looking back. I don't film a whole concert, but I like filming clips.

As a teenager when this happened it was the most amazing thing ever, their willingness to put it all out there in a low income area made a point that was not lost on any of us. @@JayveeTV The live from Red Rocks is a quality early live cut from them. Sunday Bloody Sunday is a deeply meaningful anti-war/anti-violence song opposing the British occupation of Northern Ireland. Meaningful related songs would be the Clash "Should I Stay or Should I Go?" and The Cranberries "Zombie" ... to name only a couple.

"The Joshua Tree" is one of my top 10 albums of all time. Every song is incredible. "Pride" makes reference to Martin Luther King being shot on April 4 in Memphis. Great song. "Beautiful Day" & "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" also!

They even have a 24/7 dedicated Sirius XM channel!! Definitely check out some 90s U2 like One, Even Better Than the Real Thing, or Discotheque.

I've been lucky enough to have seen U2 twice in concert, and they DO NOT disappoint! I'm Irish and have seen them play Belfast and in their hometown, Dublin☘️'With Or Without You' is one of my fav U2 songs - they performed it at both concerts and I wept like a baby - it was just SO emotional! Both concerts were unbelievably amazing but seeing them play to THEIR DUBLIN was something I will NEVER forget! Bono is so interactive with the crowd and the band just kept on playing for hours. You should listen to 'The Unforgettable Fire', 'Pride', 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' (Rattle & Hum live version - Bono's speech was so necessary) & 'All I Want Is You'.....simply beautiful. 💕
PS U2 are known for playing impromptu gigs, especially in America. A few of years ago, for New Year's Eve they performed on top of the BBC building in London to a PACKED City!

I know I’m three months late as I am new to your channel but U2 is my absolute favorite band. They sound the same live just like on the record. I’ve seen them live 5 times and met them once. The Edge (guitar player) is so sweet and has the most beautiful crystal blue eyes I’ve ever seen. I love them all equally but the drummer Larry Mullen Jr. has my heart. His drumming on Bullet the Blue Sky is amazing. They put on the best show. I have no idea how Bono does it but his voice is amazing and Adam Clayton on bass on the song Gloria is so on point. I saw them last in Chicago 2018 and Bono fell twice. Once to come meet us and once during the concert down the back stairs. I’ve loved U2 since I was 10 that’s 40 years of devotion! Thank you! ❤️😘

U2 had released The Unforgettable Fire and then done Live Aid in 85, catapulting up to be the biggest band in the world. They were different: great musicians, great song writing, and a mission / spiritual side to their music that connected them with people. Then... they released The Joshua Tree album, one of the top 10 albums of all time. Everyone owned it and everyone loved it. There was no bigger band in the world for the next 20 years.

They never released RHMT in our neck of the woods, but I think it's the best song on that album to! They released One Tree Hill here instead, as Greg Carroll was the New Zealander roadie that was killed in the motorcycle accident, they dedicated that song to him. U2 did an impromptu concert at Justin Herman Plaza in the financial district of San Francisco where Bono spray painted the modern art water sculpture during the concert. We just walked from our offices a block or two away to be there at lunch. It was quite an event. I'm sure this concert was similar. Promoted on radio and out of the blue.
