I remember this. I was 21 and at my local Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday night watching TV and hanging out with my fellow firefighters. Great TV!
Always liked Alabama. No tabloid scandals and tons of great music and memories. Talked my soon to be hubby into taking me to see them in 1983. (Once he heard the lovely Juice was opening, he was sold, lol.) 40 years of marriage later, we still talk about the times we saw them. Restless Heart is a fave group of ours, too.
August 24, 1973. The night I got married and went to the local Ramada Inn to have a drink and celebrate. Guess who was playing there that night? These guys, and that was when they were still Wild Country and nobody knew they were listening to the future CMA Entertainers of the year four years running. Or the first country music BAND to break all the records for #1 hits at 41. They did it ALL and they did it so right.
Monty Powell wrote "Pete's Music City" it was written for our hometown music store in Calhoun Georgia Monty went on to write too many #1 songs for too many artists (go to his website and check out his list)
I remember watching this show with my parents when i was a kid. Wow. Those were the best times. So thankful i had parents that raised me on great country and bluegrass music.
Real Music. I was 21 at the time. Raised in Boaz Alabama not far from Fort Payne. They were Awesome. My ex wife's Grandmother knew all of them but the drummer from working at the lunchroom at the Fort Payne High School.
Love in the First Degree -- great song by a great band! These three cousins could really harmonize and they played their own instruments. I really like that they're actually playing the song too and not lip-syncing to the studio version. Badass!
So glad i discoverd Alabama i first heard of them singing the closer you get like they say the rest is history I was hooked after hearing Randy awesome voice
Saw them in Salem Virginia in 1981 (or 82). George Strait opened for them! Caught a couple of other concerts too. Awesome group but Mark was handed a raw deal!
my cousin and i went to see the eagles and we were talking and my grandmothers neighbor told us about a new group called alabama ...she said they were gonna make it big....she gave us some tickets and we went to see them in birmingham al..we were some of the first to meet them autograph pics and first to join their fan club...they invited us to a thing they called the june jam.....so i knew their aunt and some distant relatives of mine married all cousins ...so i dont know how close whom is to whom....but we seen them about 5 times during the early years...
I love the show hee haw that was real country and talent on that show not like this shit they trying to pass off as country sounds more like pop and hip hop than country listen to Alabama that's real country
💯 but he has a statue in Fort Payne and is in the Country Music Hall of Fame as the Drummer of Alabama. That's a thorn in the side of their Foolish Pride.
Mark Herndon. I think someone whispered in the other guy's ears that he never really was part of the band and wound up suing him for all royalties. Sad
Not too keen on them anymore since they dissed mark. Mark was in all the videos, went up with the rest to accept awards and more and they do what they did to mark! If he was bever part of the band like I'm guessing someone whispered in the others ears, they should've nipped it in the bud!
Well there's two sides to every story and before anyone goes poor drummer get your facts straight before you spread hurting words randy and the rest are generally good fellas and maybe there might be some truth to the story of longtime embezzlement and why a member isn't apart of the group and I don't know em but just seems theres two sides to every story and I think they wouldn't have sacked anyone without a good probable cause

Hee-Haw was a show that used every day humor and down home singin'. Very enjoyable growing up with it. Even after the test of time it's still golden.

I'll listen to Alabama, till the day I die. I love these guys.
Alabama, The best country group to come down the pike!!
I also love The Oak Ridge Boys, and The Stayler Brothers. Top notch all.
I remember watching this show with my parents when i was a kid. Wow. Those were the best times. So thankful i had parents that raised me on great country and bluegrass music.

Randy and Teddy still tour - greatest country group! They honor Jeff at every concert. The Alabama museum in Ft. Payne is a must for fans.
Amen
Good that they honor Jeff, but terrible that they hosed Mark. Not good people.
@@amyk87tarnished their legacy big time. Chalk another band broken up to Foolish Pride.
What was the story
Oh the memories of the good ole days of real county music.
Love in the First Degree -- great song by a great band! These three cousins could really harmonize and they played their own instruments. I really like that they're actually playing the song too and not lip-syncing to the studio version. Badass!
Normal country music, the stuff that makes sense . My husband and I were raised on this stuff . Good ole Hee Haw ! SALUTE
I agree.
This group was my favorite group
They were good, but best? Probably has to be the Statler brothers.
I became a Statler Brothers fan in the 1970's. Alabama and the Oak Ridge Boys were great, but the Statler Brothers were my favorite.
saw them twice in Huntsville,Alabama, also came to aKmart there and did not let the fame go to their heads.Alabama proud.
We all love ❤️ alabama
I'm so excited to see my favorite band on hee haw
Feathered hair ❤
It's been said a country performance hasn't hit big time until they go on HeeHaw....fact.,
So glad i discoverd Alabama i first heard of them singing the closer you get like they say the rest is history I was hooked after hearing Randy awesome voice
If I'm not mistaken, Exile wrote that song.

Yes i guess it died like disco has so many years ago. Some changes good some bad..But i guess the new country we need to give them a chance
I grew up watching hee haw with grandmother and mom and then aunt when i lived with her
Believe it or not John 5 and Joe Bonamosa was inspired to play guitar watching Hee Haw 🎸😉
Saw them numerous times over the years and enjoyed every moment.Great band 🤠🎶
Great team singing together 💪😂
The boys are funny, also love this live performance of Love in The First Degree
I don’t care what Randy Jeff (RIP) and Teddy claim, Mark was 100% a member of the band.
Seems like Mark doesn't even get remember now and Mark was with the for over 20 years.
Another band broken up to Foolish Pride. Mark is in the Hall of Fame as the Alabama drummer and has a statue in Fort Payne. He has the last laugh.
❤❤❤❤
Meto ❤
I'm l nthefancalb
I love you Randy's I hope you have fun Sally hodgdon
They don't write stuff like this anymore. Classic country is the way to go . This band was the best
Poor ol Mark deserved a better ending tho
💯 but he has a statue in Fort Payne and is in the Country Music Hall of Fame as the Drummer of Alabama. That's a thorn in the side of their Foolish Pride.
I totally agree
Because of how they treated Mark I have lost a lot of respect for them.
What happened to the guy that's the drummer?
Mark Herndon. I think someone whispered in the other guy's ears that he never really was part of the band and wound up suing him for all royalties. Sad
.....I'm guilty, og love in tha first degree.....🫤
Back when Liberty overalls where still made in the US not Mexico.
What happened to mark?
No way!
Not too keen on them anymore since they dissed mark. Mark was in all the videos, went up with the rest to accept awards and more and they do what they did to mark! If he was bever part of the band like I'm guessing someone whispered in the others ears, they should've nipped it in the bud!

It's pretty crappy how they did Mark
